They did have lots of options but no visible prices, strike 2. The items did look good and lots of fun options but looking at the actual food being delivered to customers I decided to pass. They have the dreaded tip option at check out-that I'm really just sick of seeing from places that aren't serving me anything and are just making people uncomfortable-Strike 3. Customer service was average to below average. My wife actually did like her raspado but said she definitely wouldn't return. My son ordered chocolate covered banana and he liked it but he pretty much likes anything sweet. Wonderful food! Ive been here a few times now, the customer service has improved significantly since i started going, they have both Spanish and English speakers, with quick service! They also offer samples and pretty good prices! Some things i recommend are the corn cups, cookies and cream ice cream, and the caramel ice cream pop! They're all hits in my household! The Fruit treys are wonderful! And they don't skip out to, the fruit with cream is sooooo good! I like to try new things each time i go! The restaurant aesthetic is similar to that of an older ice cream shop bringing me back to childhood memories! The snacks are also really good!! Definitely worth the try! My wife had the mango con Chile that had real mango pieces in it . As soon as I bit into the coconut paleta I was in heaven.I shared the coconut one with my wife and she loved it as well. Next was the Tamarindo con Chile that brought back child hood memories of the hot summer days in the 805 when the paletero would pass by ringing the bells on the cart.I was about to leave and noticed the fresh fruit cups in the fridge, so I got one to go for lunch the next day. Came for some dessert and was not disappointed. I ordered a scoop of mango and fresa ice cream and they were both good. The strawberry ice cream was super creamy and the mango was tangy and icy. 2nd time coming and I'm not disappointed at all... The palletas takes me back to my childhood in the streets of Delano/Earlimart when people would come around the block w a pushcart full of popcicles aka la rosa bars. The only thing different is that the la rosa bars were not as memorable as the popcicles here. The fresh fruits that they use are incredible!!! Will I be back? Of course I will!! Hey have two cases FULL of popsicles. Some are fruit based and some are fruit and milk based. They also have a case of ice cream as well as frozen chocolate covered bananas and boba drinks. On their food menu they have a few things I had never heard of, but I know a cup of corn when I see it! I ordered their corn, which comes with mayo, butter, and cheese. You can add lemon and chili powder yourself at the counter. They also carry those awesome nachos that you make in a chip bag and you just pour hot lava cheese on top. There is also a container full of jalapeños at the counter so you can add as many as your heart desires. Additionally, they can make quesadillas, tortas, tostadas, and nachos. Selfishly, I have not written a review for my favorite ice cream shop in Bakersfield. Paleteria y Neveria la Nueva Michoacana is not fancy. Basically, it is a little hole in the wall shop. Find them in the strip mall on the corner of Hughes Rd. and White Lane. This little plaza gets packed and parking could be a problem sometimes. The shop is tiny with just a few tables. We have always had helpful and friendly service here. The ice cream flavors and the paletas (Popsicles) are yummy! I believe the make all their ice cream flavors and paletas at one of their other locations. They also have other food and drinks such as agua fresca and fruit mixta available. Ice cream is yummy and affordable! $4.75 for four scoops of homemade ice cream, Two scoops for $3.00, or 3 scoops for $4. They give good portions too. Currently, my favorite flavors are Chongos, Fresca y crema, Pistachio, and Fresca y queso. They are creamy deliciousness! Mango is more of a sorbet. Still good, though. Paletas are $1.50 each. The exceptions are the chocolate dipped paletas. Those are priced higher. Some paletas are water based, and some are milk creme based. They are all tasting good to very good! Have tried over half their choices of which there are many. My personal favorite is the Nuez. If you Iike ice cream and Popsicles, then head on over here. Paletas....I believe that is the correct spelling. Refreshing and lovely is what I have experienced here so far. I have tried a few of the choices like Chile Mango, Chile Pina and Chicle! All are so addicting and provides some childhood flashback memories for me. The ladies here are very nice and welcoming, which makes a world of a difference when trying a new place. They do offer other things like tortas, nachos and traditional ice cream as well as milkshakes & smoothies. Why 4 stars and not 5? Yes, the parking is terrible, but it is WELL worth the struggle. I had the queso fresas (cheese and strawberry, I know!) ice cream and it was out of this world delicious. Cool ice cream joint in Bako if you're craving fruity stuff! Not too hard to find, it's in the in-shape plaza on white and Stine. Plenty of parking space in the parking lot. The sign is pretty big, hard to miss and it's the south corner of the plaza. Walking in, it's this colorful place with bunch of large colorful signs of what they offer. Gotta say, there's a huge variety a flavor. All the flavors are either ice cream style (with milk) or popsicle (with water). The ladies at the cash register are nice. Again lots of flavor to try. For us, we ended up with the guava ice cream and coconut ice cream. Both are pretty tasty and flavorful. The one thing that I was disappointed with in mine was the guava seeds were all mixed in and I had to keep spitting the seeds out. Coconut ice cream was actually really good. Lots of coconut chunks too. Overall, I'd give this place 4/5 stars. Friendly service, although they didn't speak much English so brush up on your Spanish but it's not too bad, just point to what you want. Flavor choices are huge, and definitely tasty in terms of the flavors. But it's too fresh that the seeds are still in. But I would def go back to try other flavors. Okay let me just tell you I am obsessed with their ice cream! They have a large selection to choose from. They have a variety of popsicles and also ice cream scoops. Along with food items. My personal favorite are the fruit cream popsicles. I have been back several times trying different flavors each time and I have yet to be disappointed. I have tried the coconut, strawberry cream, vanilla strawberry, and mixed fruit and cream. They all taste fresh instead of tasting like they've been frozen for ever. My absolute favorite was the vanilla strawberry. It had vanilla ice cream on the outside and the inside was an iced strawberry ice cream. It reminded me of the strawberry shortcake Good Humour bars. I love that smell!! haha This place sparkled literally in my face. I went there and got a vanilla ice cream bar dipped in chocolate with almonds. You could tell the vanilla was real vanilla and not processed at all. The taste was perfect and you can taste the true taste of each flavor on the ice cream bar. It had a good amount of seating and I loved the look of the layout as well. You could see in the back the machines where they make the ice cream maybe?! IDK but it was a cool visual aspect. This place is just awesome if you like ice cream or ice cream bars. It is a hole in the wall place in a shopping center across the street from a former Wal-Mart, but don't let that sway you. All of their ice cream bars are freshly made. They have normal flavors, fruit flavors with fresh fruit, some are chocolate covered, and others are chocolate covered with different types of nuts. I got a strawberry bar, covered in chocolate, and then covered in walnuts. It was the best bar I've ever had in my life! The thing was completely covered in great tasting chocolate and then 100% covered in large, fresh walnuts. Every bite was consistent with all three flavors. I also got a homemade horchata. I love horchata and this was one of the top 3 that I've ever had. Light and refreshing, not too heavy or sweet. My only complaint is that I didn't have more room for another serving. This place was small with just a few tables but the choices were plentiful. They offered samples of anything which was nice since my kids were curious about a few ice cream flavors. They each decided to be boring and one got chocolate and the other got vanilla but they were both flavored well as I enjoyed a bite of each. My hubby got the strawberry paleta dipped in chocolate and covered in pecans and a glass of horchata both he raved about. I finally decided on the strawberries and cream paleta and was not disappointed. It was delicious and the chunks of strawberries really made it awesome. I'm only kicking myself that I didn't have a cooler to take some home in because I really want to try more flavors but in this heat they would have been soup by the time we got home. They had other items that looked very tasty, including scoopable ice creams, smoothies, sandwiches, salads, and tostilocos. Everything looked delicious to me. The place having over 20 kinds to choose from ranging in various fruit and milk flavors. The best part is that all the paletas have real fruit mixed in for the fruit flavors. The milk having there base ingredient mixed for example cookies and cream chunks of Oreos mixed in.
