On a shopping trip with my wife to Fetus, mo. So we came across Lachanga Mexican Resturant on S. Truman Blvd.ay crystal City, Mo. So we stopped in for lunch and was a excellent place to stop at. The resturant is very large all kind of seating large booths, lots of tables, beautifully decorated inside very confortable seating. We were greeted when we walked in and seated. Very quickly our waiter came to our drink order and gave us menue, lunch specials. We decided on a Chimi lunch,, flour torta grilled chicken, green peppers, onions and covered in caso, salard, rice and beans If your mouth is watering believe me it was simply fantastic, flavor, great presentation and smelled delicious. Our waiter was very nice his name was Robeli #11 He was excellent, very friendly,took excellent care of us and made our visit very nice and great service. To the managers, Owner you have a class A company and AA staff, GREAT BUSINESS KEEP IT UP. Well I was underwhelmed. Let me say, the food was good. The most disappointing part was the portion size.....food tasted great, but there wasn't a whole lot of it. I got the Pachanga fajita and added chorizo (again, surprised it didn't come on it) and the sizzling plate was even full. That's a first for me at any restaurant. There were about 3 overcooked medium sized shrimp in my whole meal. My wife said her burritos were disappointing and didn't have a whole lot of flavor. She did not like the hamburger and said it was weird. My daughter said her taco salad was really good but once again the shrimp was lacking. It was also supposed to have chopped tomatoes but she found an entire half slice in the salad lol. The service was just ok. The gentleman was super nice but we never got anymore chips once we finished them. Sure we could have asked, but honestly they didn't come around much and once they did we already had food. This was a bummer because the salsa was very good. Ambiance was relaxed. There is a ton of very cool artwork inside and it's a very well put together place. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend the place, and would honestly recommend driving a few more minutes. As far as recommending, unfortunately there are much better places I would recommend. Grand Slam Home Run! I went to this restaurant with the express purpose of trying the food and evaluating the service. There are two Mexican Restaurants in my area.This is the second one I have tried. Both restaurants performed excellently. I ordered the same meal fr both to make an honest and fair review. The meal I ordered was a steak burrito. Visually the only difference between the two restaurants was the shape of the plate. Portion are about the same. The plates were full and well cooked. The wait staff at La Pachanga were friendly and attentive. The food was served in a timely manor. Flavor was excellent. I am originally from Southern California where Mexican food is not only good it is a big part of what's for dinner. I recommend La pachanga for great service and delicious food at a reasonable price. I know one star!! But they have fallen since they have opened so many years ago. We rarely dine here anymore, because everything seems so precooked or microwaved to order. It's almost like TacoBell, but no drive through and alcohol. LaPas used to be the GoTo place for Mexican Cuisine, but not anymore. They expanded and I guess they got to busy for their business. Hopefully they can turn it around. It's hard out there in place where nobody wants to work, and you are constantly short staffed. But they do have some competition out there.. Gave this location a second chance after a less than stellar visit a year ago. The food isn't *terrible* but it is a far cry from some other Mexican restaurants we've been to. The fajita meat was tough and hard to chew. The rice is exceptionally bland and the beans are...interestingly smoky flavored. If that's your thing, by all means go here! BYOHS--bring your own hot sauce. The first time we were here, we waited A LONG TIME for bottles of sauce to be brought to our table. This time, they were completely "out" of hot sauce when we asked. Not sure how that happens at a Mexican restaurant. This last part of my review is a bit nit-picky, but I have to include it. The music that was playing was some kind of Mexican techno??? Not exactly sure what to call it, but it was CRAZY ANNOYING. I would literally rather hear the Mexican Hat Dance song on a loop than listen to that techno junk ever again. I admit that Mexican cuisine is about my least favorite; however I'm always prepared to go with something simple like cheese quesadillas if that's where we land. And that's what I chose. They were okay, but I prefer when they're crispier and not so dry. Margaritas are mostly ice. Beer usually tastes funny. Food is hit and miss. Be warned, if you ask your server if a dish has sour cream on it and they say yes even though it doesn't, you'll be charged extra for asking for that sour cream on the side. I'm a regular at Chipotle, and was hoping to find a similar burrito for take out. This restaurant is much better for dining in. The ambiance is festive, high-end furniture, very beautifully decorated. The atmosphere probably makes up for some of the mediocrity of the food. The burrito was decently delicious. Too sloppy for my taste, but filled with fresh ingredients. The chicken in the burrito is cooked just right, great flavor. The burrito tortilla is yummy and toasty. It wasn't folded very well, so very messy presentation and hard to eat with all the toppings coming out. I was disappointed in the chips and salsa. The corn chips are too thick and not a great flavor. I prefer thin, crispy chips that are well salted and maybe even lime flavored like at Chipotle. The salsa desperately needs improvement! It's watery, tastes only of tomato, and is too spicy. Spicy tomato liquid. The guacamole is better. I'd order that again. The small portion of guac is a great price for a good amount of guacomole to dip the chips. I just wish the chips were better. Thinner and saltier and a fresher taste. Service was fast and attentive. They said my takeout order would be ready in 10 min, and it came out all nicely packaged in less than 10. I will eat here again, but only for dine-in to enjoy the beautiful, Mexican themed atmosphere. The bar looked like a fun place to have drinks. Penny Wise and Pound Foolish! We stopped buying kids meals for our older kids years ago because they eat like more adults I know yet La Pachanga discriminates against them because of their age and their money doesn't count because they're kids. (How about that for an intro...it's probably a run on sentence as well.) Our family of 8 has been coming to this great local establishment since we moved back to MO in 2008. On Sundays they offer free kid's meals per one adult meal. My wife and I order a meal, my two older boys order an adult meal (because the kids meals aren't enough for them) and you would think that would get us four kids meals to cover the other 4 kids. NOPE! Because my older boys aren't officially "adults" the money doesn't count. When I pressed them on "how old one has to be for it to count," they couldn't tell me. Also, apps don't count toward this deal even though many apps are more than some "adult meals." They are penny wise and pound foolish or the Sunday staff lacks common sense...or a little of both. The food is great, but the service is what killed this review. I come in by myself to get food...but we know take our kids to other local establishments that doesn't discriminate against kids money, like Pasta House and Thai Rama. C'mon La Pachanga, you can do better. read more

I ordered take out here for dinner after a busy day of work. I ordered a small guacamole and the enchiladas rancheras which included 3 cheese enchiladas topped with beef and rice and beans. Chips and salsa came with it. The amount of food lasted me 2 dinners. The food was very tasty. Not outstanding Mexican food but I was very satisfied after a long day. Definitely worth it. We've eaten here many times (and had them cater our Holiday dinner once) and we've always had great experiences! The staff is friendly and while sometimes there is a slight language barrier, it's never been a problem for us. The place always appears clean (including the restrooms) and the food comes out hot and as ordered. They do a great business as any evening you drive by, the parking lot will be packed. And on this visit, we could see they've started work on an outdoor seating area. We will definitely try that come spring! read more

I avoid going to this location at all costs. Unless I'm with others who absolutely MUST eat here, I never stop by. For some reason, they can never seem to cook my food all the way. La Pachanga is decorated very festiv, and it reminds me of other Mexican restaurants. I liked the flavor of the salsa, and the service we received while eating there was great, and our server was very professional and continued to smile and be friendly and efficient, a quality not seen too often now days... Absolute favorite place. Ever. No better Mexican food can be found in the area. Service is excellent. Staff is great. Drink specials and good specials throughout the week. My kids don't understand why we can't eat here nightly. Pollo primavera is such a great dish and my what my family from out of town always looks forward to when they come to visit.
