POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Due to the LACK OF COMMON SENSE, the clerk put my order (2 cookies for $6) in a plastic container that was made for ONE COOKIE. Therefore the lid was hanging open with the cookies exposed. Of course they never made it home. Due to the POOR DECISION of the clerk using the WRONG container and not CARING enough to keep the cookies safe, both cookies fell out of the UNCLOSED, WAY TOO SMALL PLASTIC CONTAINER. $6 for two cookies is a little steep (but when NO PRICES ARE POSTED, you pay whatever price you are told) But $6 for NO COOKIES IS RIDICULOUS! They would NEVER have fallen on the dirty floor if the clerk used the right size container or bag. PLEASE TRAIN your employees better! There were flies inside the cases of glass all over the bread. When I told the owner that flies got in the case, she said she "doesn't care" and if I don't want the bread to not buy it. I also saw the cashier drop a piece of bread in the floor and put it back on the tray. I was gonna buy a dozen pieces of bread but was so disgusted by their actions and the flies. I just bought a drink and they were short on my change. Then they had the audacity to get annoyed when I corrected them. Never coming back here again. read more

In case it's a scam: I have been a loyal customer for almost a year and would come at least once a week. I work nearby so would take my lunch breaks there or buy bread for a snack. I liked the bread and the ambiance. BUT I just went again after a month of not going and the worker told me that she didn't charge me correctly last time and that I knew I was being charged incorrectly. She showed me 2 receipts on her phone , one showing 7.50 and the other showing 2.50 and told me that I needed to pay those $5. That was not fair because the receipts do not show what was bought and they were not physical receipts. Also she said that because she recognized me and accused me of running out on her when I come frequently. And if I was charged incorrectly a month ago then again it was not my responsibility to pay that now when it was her mistake. I told her to charge me and it's fine but I will not be returning. I got 1 of each Concha. And an empanada with Vanilla Cream. I was excited to try and I was disappointed. I did not like the taste of their concha Mexican bread. La Colmena is still my go to in North Hollywood/Sun Valley area off of Sherman Way. The Palma's concha are soft and got them straight out of the oven. But the taste and texture was not enjoyable. To my surprise, LaPalma Bakery still makes the same recipe and this place still maintains the home-style quality. The workers are amazing and so kind. Total cost $7.15, but my credit card was charged $717.15! Talk about overcharging. I informed the lady at the counter, and instead of acknowledging her mistake, she had the audacity to say that it was my fault because I asked her for an extra bag! To make matters worse, she did not know how to issue a refund and took over 10 minutes to reach the owner. Waited another 8 minutes for the owner to arrive so she can issue the refund. I wanted to like this place, but I ended up being disappointed. This is the sweetest pan dulce I've had in my life, and not in a good way type of sweet. It has a homemade taste to it, but way too sweet. Some of the pastries I got were very grainy and/or might've been sitting there long enough to not taste fresh anymore. They were out of some pan dulce, but I won't necessarily hold that against them...not sure if it was the time or the holiday season demand. Prices were very reasonable. She tossed it so hard that one even came out. I told her I didn't want the concha that fell and she gave me ATTITUDE and raised her voice and said "well I don't care I will take it back and still CHARGE you. I then said "why if I'm not taking it"with EVEN MORE ATTITUDE she said "I'm not going to sell you nothing, get out" and threw me the card. We woke up extra early to go to this bakery. We were really excited to try it. And when we arrived we waited in line. Which was not a big deal. When it was our turn a lady helped us. But she was in a bad mood. We were selecting the breads and by the time we got to selecting the 5th or so bread she says, ok it's $$$ and we said, oh we are still getting a few more. And she rolls her eyes and then turns around. We are not sure what upset her. But we thought it was rude when she rolled her eyes.
