    Conchitas for event

We called to make an order of pink/yellow/white/brown conchitas for about 150 people. They don't provide delivery service but we were able to pick up easily. The bakery is inside market and our guests from our event loved them!

Rosca de Reyes $25 and worth every penny.

Read an article in the San Fernando Sun Newspaper about a brother duo and their bakery. It's located inside a liquor store so I wasn't sure what to expect. Parking was atrocious but good thing someone drove me and waited for me in the car. The bakery portion is located to the left and I was greeted by the cashier. They had loads of boxes for roscas, definitely a good sign. A hello with the brothers that were working like busy bees and super friendly. Gave me a concha and it was so good! Ordered a rosca for about 20 people at $25, very fair and reasonable. It smelled wonderful. It had 4 babies and yay that I didn't get any. Everyone raved about it. Will have to stop by and try other pastries and pan dulce.

I love me some conchas and have found them to just be okay at local panaderias in the Sylmar and San Fernando area.

There's a self serving kiosk but I crashed at some point when we were looking through our choices. We ended up having the worker help us. They helped me choose my flavor because I was debating on either smores or banana. I'm glad I ended up with banana! Banana(8/10): The cake part basically tasted like banana bread and it was quite delicious! As much as I enjoyed it, I thought the frosting was overly sweet. I would still choose that flavor if I were to choose again! Protein(0/10): I thought the whole thing was very dry and it didn't help with the frosting being overly sweet. Definitely, will not be choosing this again. Service(10/10): They were kind and helpful! I accidentally dropped my cupcake and I was devastated! I asked if they were ok with switching it out and luckily they allowed it! I was very grateful for the worker that helped us! Overall, a place worth trying especially for their service!

And I know that vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting is pretty easy to make, but sometimes I'd rather just buy baked goods than make them for myself, especially when I'm driving past what I thought was a popular (and presumably good) bake shop. I expected a high-quality cupcake. The cupcakes looked cute, but they were as dry as the Sahara. They should have been labeled as white cupcakes as I didn't detect any vanilla in them. I suspect that the "buttercream" was made with milk and margarine and powdered sugar.....so much powdered sugar. It was sickeningly sweet, and it was dry too. And a true bettercream doesn't even use powdered sugar. So not only were the cupcakes terrible, they were not even what they purported to be. This is like calling a cut of meat a filet mignon and serving a hamburger. Von's, Ralphs and Albertson's make better cupcakes than this for a fraction of othe price.
