I was on my way back from a trip to SoCal headed to Arizona. It was a 5.75 hrs trip. About 2 hours into the trip, I started craving Mexican, so my partner was co-pilot and was searching Mexican restaurants close to the I-10. Several popped up but this one stood out so we took a chance and ordered to go. When I got there the food was ready. I loaded up on salsa and some pickled jalapeño and carrots. I looked into the bag and said to myself. This burrito is huge!!!! I ordered a Cali burrito and she ordered a breakfast potatoes, egg and cheese burrito. Because I was driving, I decided to devour this beast in the parking lot. I was probably the best burrito I've ever had in my life. La Paloma Mexican Food is a pretty authentic spot tucked right next to the Terra Lago golf course. It's not really close to much else, and honestly, in that little strip mall it's basically your only food option, but thankfully, it's a good one. The food is standard and very straightforward, in a way that feels genuinely authentic rather than overdone or trendy. Very large servings. The menu has pretty much everything you'd expect, and you can grab a beer to go with your meal. The salsa bar is a big highlight. The fire salsa is no joke. My lips are still burning. It's a small shop and "original " feel, the kind where locals stop in during a break to get a solid, satisfying meal. Ordering was quick and easy, though it did take a while for the food to come out after that. (a little too long in my opinion.) The main downside was cleanliness. The place wasn't the cleanest overall, and the soda machine jammed while I was there and kept spilling, which was a bit of a turnoff and kind of embarrassing. All that said, if you're in the area and want authentic Mexican food, La Paloma is worth stopping at with a large selection , a legit salsa bar, and a real local feel, even if there's a little room for improvement. read more

My wife went for the Chile Verde, but it turned out to be a bit too spicy for her (and she can usually handle some heat). She tapped out and switched to two chicken enchiladas, which were absolutely superb--cheesy and saucy. No regrets there. One thing I noticed? This was a neat find when I stopped in Indio on the way home to PHX from Orange County. I wanted dinner, and the reviews were good. The food was great, the tacos are HUGE! We stopped in with the sole intent of getting breakfast burritos. We heard they were huge. Hubs had a bacon burrito and I shared a sausage burrito. They were indeed huge. Nice, crisped tortilla, filled with potato, egg and meat of choice. They came piping hot off the grill. Very filling. They have a salsa bar inside, with levels of spiciness. I ate there 3 weeks ago and the food was very delicious lots of flavor. I got a carnitas sope' with rice and bean to dine in and cheese burrito to go. I have never been disappointed with the food here. The burritos are enough to feed you for two meals. The bean and cheese burrito is so simple but so delicious. The nachos are amazing. Normally I get the same thing every time I go to a restaurant but I make it a point to try something new here and have never regretted my decision. Always great service! We stopped here on our way home for breakfast burritos. They were really, really big and pretty good. The young lady at the counter, taking our order was very friendly and efficient. The place was clean and the salsa bar was well stocked and spotless. My husband had one with egg, cheese, and sausage and it was packed with meat. I got the egg, potato, cheese, and bacon and it was mainly potatoes. After seeing the difference, unless you want a lot of potato and lessof the other ingredients, skip the potato.
