We stopped for dinner after doing some shopping nearby and were very impressed. This is a little pricier than most of the Mexican places in Springfield (though not really all that pricey by any measure), and worth every penny. The service was fabulous. Their food was delicious. This restaurant has the best nachos in Springfield! Both the fajita nachos and the pork nachos are excellent! I suggest asking for them spicier than they usually make them since that way they're even better than they are otherwise. But I understand that not everyone likes spicy food and the way they are regularly prepared is not at all bland. This restaurant has a convenient location on E. Sunshine Avenue. It's set a bit off the road, but it's right behind the more visible Braum's Ice Cream Shop & Burger Restaurant. There's plenty of convenient parking either right next to the restaurant or in the parking lot of the adjacent strip mall. This is a popular restaurant, but I've never had to wait to be seated. The hostess is friendly and welcoming. The waiters and waitresses help to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I recommend this to anyone who loves good nachos. I've never had a bad experience with their other dishes, and many of them are also good, but it's the nachos that set them above and beyond their competition. read more

Pretty good place. It has a typical Mexican menu, but the food is very well seasoned. Also, the guacamole is made table side, which is also a nice touch. For Springfield, La Paloma is a hidden gem in a fine food desert. Overall, the dining experience was fun, quaint, reasonably priced, abs delicious. The La Paloma salad was a savory delight with perfectly cooked chichen and shrimp. The fresh made-at-your-table guacamole was amusing. Having REAL mole at a Springfield restaurant was great. Minor issues - Although very fresh, the guacamole would have benefited from some cumin and some time to mellow the flavors together. The mole here was really too sweet for my tastes and I would have preferred a more savory style, but this is just personal preference. This was our first visit here and based on all of the positive reviews and menu we were expecting some exceptional food. Unfortunately our experience wasn't 5 star review worthy. We ordered the table side guacamole which was put together behind us. Avocado was not fully ripe and hard and our server put in way too much lime juice. We ended up mashing the guacamole as best we could and added salt to cut the lime and the un ripe flavor of the avocado. Definitely not worth the 7.99. I had a chimichanga which was ok but nothing special. Chicken in it was moist and well seasoned. Rice was bland as were the beans. Wife had a tamale and taco. She said taco was good but wasn't crazy about the sauce on tamale. A friend had vegetarian enchiladas. Looked really good and she said tasted good. It was just an underwhelming experience. Not bad but not what I was expecting. My guess is that we will go back to our go to spot (not the local chain) which is weekly. Place was very busy so must be very well liked. Manager did stop by and ask how the meal was and did let him know about the guacamole. He said thanks for the feedback. read more

We stopped to eat lunch at La Paloma by chance driving back from Branson to Tulsa and I'm SO glad we did! The customer service was top notch. Food was amazing! Really impressed by the presentation, definitely fine-dining worthy! Table side fresh guacamole is a MUST! I had their Tacos de Carne Asada and they did not disappoint! Absolutely delectable! Average prices of $10-$12/meal and well worth every penny! We will be making a point to stop here on our next drive through! read more

I have lived in Springfield for 3 years now and could not find a Mexican restaurant that I like. There's a place back in my hometown called La Pachangas that I had come to love. This food reminds me just of! The salsa had a good taste, it wasn't bland. The staff was very attentive and the food was fantastic! It's a more modern, classy Mexican restaurant. In town on business, and always try a new place when I am here. Usually places with good yelp reviews are good. This place not so much, the staff are not very friendly and attentive. I will say the chips and salsa were good, and the Margarita was very strong! I got the mole , it was very sweet I am use to a good mix between spicy and sweet, the chicken had no flavor. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but the wait staff could use some cheering up for sure! read more

We have eaten here several times over the last couple of years, and I'm afraid it's gone way downhill...and it's not like it was all that amazing to begin with. The last time I went, I ordered chicken enchiladas that literally were just shredded chicken wrapped in a corn tortilla, smothered in salty sauce, and nothing else. They were DRY AS A BONE inside and almost no flavor on top. My husband had ordered beef enchiladas and it was just beef inside. It's like they're just throwing whatever meat you order inside an enchilada, topping it with generic sauce, and microwaving the whole thing. No cheese, no herbs or spices, nothing to bind the ingredients in the enchilada...just plain steamed meat. I have had Hungry Man frozen enchiladas that tasted better. I have also been when they are mopping the floor right next to the table with very noxious-smelling cleaners and ignoring our calls for service. I wish they could get their act together. It used to be better. Now it's turned into overpriced and underwhelming bland food. read more

La Paloma has the nicest environment of any Mexican restaurant I've been to. The only problem is you pay for the "experience". Unfortunately the combo 3 I ordered tasted bland and I even ended up throwing it up an hour later. Meals here are minimum of 10 dollars and if you order a soda and cheese dip expect almost 20 dollars per person. Unfortunately the nice setting of the restaurant does not make up for the average quality Mexican food you can find anywhere else in Springfield for a better price.
