Strangely my Indian family's go to spot…read more We tried pupusas for the first time during a trip and had to immediately find a local spot, and Que Chivo is for sure the one. The ambience is nice and homely, nothing too complicated but more than enough space for a family dinner. Beautiful decorations inside that celebrate El Salvador. Everyone who works there is super sweet and make sure all your needs are met and explain the menu very well. The pupusas are nuts and huge, stuffed to the brim overflowing with cheese and whatever topping you picked. They are so hot and fresh they could sear your lips off genuinely. You watch them cook it fresh on a large stove/ grill and bring it to you in baskets. The cheese they use is salty and delicious and we reallly enjoy the lorroco, jalapeños, and spinach add ins. Don't skip on the sides, their yuca fries are super crispy and thick and I love the crema and plantains. The plantains are almost caramelized and have a decadent sweetness to them that goes so well with the crema. The refried beans are also amazing! Definitely best pupusa spot in Frederick and they are so generous with the stuffing.

So, we wandered to Mayta's. Wow. 1. Not sure why in 3 years living near Frederick we had not gone before. (my bad) 2. wow The food is simply amazing. Everything from black beans to meat was prepared. The dipping sauces are traditional Peruvian, and were amazing. They are not only on my go back to again list, they are on my new go back to soon list.

We chose Mayta's largely based on location, being open for lunch and strong online reviews. We were quite happily unsurprised with the quality of its fare and its seeming value. Nestled into a quasi-upscale strip center on the western side of suburban Frederick, Mayta's presents an extensive and diverse menu, with helpful pictures and short narrative descriptions. Food is order-at-the-counter, either off of the lighted overhead menu or standard printed menus. The cuisine for both is the same. For dine-in, which is what we did, one need not pay upon ordering but we did so for our convenience and that of the staff. We both ordered off of the $20 lunch specials menu, for which you get one appetizer, one entree and one soft drink. We found the portions delicious and generous - both of us brought home considerable leftovers for lunch the next day. Each dish was well-seasoned and prepared without being too salty (a too common failing for international cuisine prepared for American consumers. While we also are intrigued by Mayta's neighbors in the strip center, we definitely would come back. There is nothing not to like here.

I saved the rice and beans afterwards because it was so good. And the Tacos al Carbon were amazing!! Literally the best we've ever had - including at some of the best NY restaurants. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that it took almost an hour to get our food. We came New Year's eve for lunch so it became busy, but I wish the management had planned better and not just had one server (later they added a second). Def eat here!

It was right when they had opened so that's the main reason for the little traffic. The decorations were nice and colorful and the music was perfect. It was a good mix of classical and modern day music. Everything was very clean. The food was fresh and delicious. My wife liked the idea that the lengua was cooked then grilled. The ceviche was very fresh. The cheese stayed melted and the "cheese pull" was a 9 out of 10. The steak was perfectly seasoned and super tender. The burrito filling was a good balance and stuffed with meat. This restaurant ensures that the protein out-weighs the veggies and not too many places do that. This was highly awesome and, not to mention, filling. We had a couple of cervesas but they didn't have it in a draft; bottle only. I also ordered the margarita w/ cononita and a passion fruit Mojito. The mojito was freshly made and strong . Just gotta drink it fast because of the paper straw . Overall, I will definitely be coming back for the amazing food... AND THE DRINKS!

It's a small seating area, but we managed to find a spot that worked. We ordered three arepas, a cachapa, tequeyoyo, and a pastelito. To drink we got a tamarind beverage. The arepas were all very tasty and just what we were looking for. They had a good texture, were a decent size, and were stuffed with filling. The cachapa was something new for us. It was full of cheese and generously topped with chicken. The picture on the menu is very accurate. The sweetness of the cachapa provided a nice contrast to the savoryness of the chicken and chimichurri. The tequeyoyo was a great option to have for the kids as was the pastelito. All of the sauces paired well and we ended up mixing and matching. The tamarind drink was a real star and was a great tart contrast to all the food. I'm realizing more and more that I just want tamarind drinks. Overall, great experience and will definitely come back when I'm in the area!

For the same price as a subway, you got a whole lot more flavor and texture. The wife got the chicken and cheese, she declared then worthy of being on our rotation of places we go to.
