Went here to grab lunch with a larger group and was very thankful for the patience of the woman taking our order. Very friendly and was helpful with recommendations. It's a small seating area, but we managed to find a spot that worked. We ordered three arepas, a cachapa, tequeyoyo, and a pastelito. To drink we got a tamarind beverage. The arepas were all very tasty and just what we were looking for. They had a good texture, were a decent size, and were stuffed with filling. The cachapa was something new for us. It was full of cheese and generously topped with chicken. The picture on the menu is very accurate. The sweetness of the cachapa provided a nice contrast to the savoryness of the chicken and chimichurri. The tequeyoyo was a great option to have for the kids as was the pastelito. All of the sauces paired well and we ended up mixing and matching. The tamarind drink was a real star and was a great tart contrast to all the food. I'm realizing more and more that I just want tamarind drinks. Overall, great experience and will definitely come back when I'm in the area! read more

Truly wonderful! Warmly greeted on entering both in Spanish and then English, probably because I looked at the Spanish. I do get mistaken for a Spanish speaker an awful lot. Freshly prepared food that the lady serving apologized for taking up to twenty minutes to make. Better fresh than buying off the shelf! Delicious! I got the cheese Arepo, and the tropical. For the same price as a subway, you got a whole lot more flavor and texture. The wife got the chicken and cheese, she declared then worthy of being on our rotation of places we go to. read more

What a fab addition to the Frederick food scene! I had no idea how much I would adore arepas before I tried them. Now, the plan is to work my way through all of their arepas. Today I had the Domino (seasoned black beans and feta cheese) and I ate every last morsel. Previously, on the advice of the super friendly man at the counter ( the owner?) I got the King and demolished it too. The King has plaintains, which I've never been a fan of, but wow, the way they prepare plantains makes them beyond delicious. Did I mention that all of the arepas are GF? So thrilling to go into a place and be able to enjoy much of the menu! (If you're celiac or have an intolerance to gluten, you'll know what I'm talking about. Pro tip: Get at least one extra sauce for your arepa. The Domino comes with one container of their avocado sauce, and remembering how I scraped out every morsel the last time, I ordered two. Two sauces got me through the arepa, but honestly, I could've enjoyed a third. read more

Came here on a visit to my sister in Maryland. Tried Arepa Queen which was a new spot in the area with some family. Had the cachapa which was super delicious with the chicharrónes. The perfect sweetness of the corn pancake of the cachapa to go along with the melted cheese and the chicharrónes brought great flavor. The chicharrónes were cooked just right and was tender and crunchy. Had the chicha to drink to go along with the food. Will come here again and highly recommend. This is my first time trying arepas and it was good! I got the veggie and tropical arepa as well as the cachapa classic. Veggie arepa had avocado, sweet plantains, and black beans ($8). Tropical arepa had avocado, sweet plantains, and fresh cheese ($8). They both came with a small green sauce which was a delicious combo. I liked the tropical over the veggie one since the black beans were overbearing. The cachapa classic tasted more like a sweet dessert and is big enough to share (if you're also eating other things). The service could have been better if they greeted customers first and offered some suggestions when knowing that it's a customer's first time there. The interior was colorful and clean. Arepa queen was a 10/10!!! If I could eat the pork belly appetizer every day I would! It was salty and crunchy and savory - perfection. The shredded chicken empanada was so flavorful and the king arepa was the perfect blend of sweet with the plantains and savory with the shredded beef and black beans. So so so delish!!! Been here a few times now - went back recently and I ordered the pork belly arepa (added plantain) and ate in person. So stunning! The chicharrones were so perfectly crispy and they are so generous with the filings. With the sauces too (especially the garlic sauce) it was absolutely amazing (PS not a clean eat - cannot put it down once you pick it up ha!) In the past, I got the tropical arepa as takeout and it was still just as great after the car ride home. Good amount of seating indoors and the decor is fun and colorful! Also some fun soda options to try - I got the Kolita which is a bubblegum cream soda and that was great! Can't wait to make a stop back here next time I'm in Frederick! read more

These arepas are wonderful, especially the queso de mano which is like a soft melty version of fresh mozzarella. We order online every couple weeks because it is about the same price as fast food but fresher and filling. I also love the tequenos. All of their juices are made fresh. The dining area is always clean. The staff are welcoming and are willing to explain the menu. I love supporting this business. read more

Arepa Queen started as a food truck, so we tried the store front location the other day. It was pretty busy, since there was a large crowd, but the service was quick and friendly. We ordered at the counter, and sat down at one of the many tables. The ambiance is casual, and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered a few items off the menu. We tried the catira arepa, which is filled with shredded chicken and cheese. My kids enjoyed it. Then we ordered the Pelua and the Queen arepa. The Pelua is shredded beef and cheese, and the Queen is chicken salad, avocado, and cheese. I highly recommend trying either of these too. Then we ordered two of the different types of the empanadas to try--the cheese and beef. Both were delicious, savory, and the pastry was flaky. My kids enjoyed them too. We definitely will add this to our dining rotation, since it's plenty of food and very affordable. It was less than $10 for a single arepa. There's also plenty of parking in the lot, and is located in the old Maytas location. read more

Some of the best arepas around! They are fresh and made with love you can tell. They stuff those babies at the right amount so the arepa still holds it shape with all the fillings and liquids that come with the meat (some). Smells amazing once you walk in, awesome decor and music; what's not to like? Fresh plants that make their wall art POP! The king is my number one: plantain, beef, cheese and that avocado sauce to drizzle on top! They're tequeñas are cheesy if you're feeling no meat and just something a little fried and to go. The restaurant itself is small but the arepas are good! Def stop by and check them out if you can. Staff is friendly.

When I picked up my food at the counter I was asked in front of a crowd if I wanted to leave a tip by the employee while she pointed to the $0.00 tip on the receipt. I put cash in the tip jar.
