Finally got a chance to visit them after day from the boardwalk. Looking forward to some comfort food. We arrived early for their dinner switch while they were cleaning up from lunch. Got seated quickly. Ordered lengua, tokwa baboy, lumpia and other few items and drinks. The food and drinks came out quick. All well made and done. Not too many places servers this kind of lengua. I came on a Sunday night and it was not busy at all. They had a ton of takeout orders but no one was inside the restaurant eating. Nonetheless, the menu is a good size with plenty of options. Once we were seated, our server informed us that we have to put all our orders in because the kitchen closes at 8:30 pm. Oh. We ordered the following dishes: KARE-KARE- beef in peanut butter sauce CALDERETA- beef stew cooked in tomato sauce PORK & CHICKEN BBQ- we also ordered Java Rice to eat these with DINUGUAN- pork cooked in pig's blood CRISPY PATA- deep fried pig knuckles TURON- fried banana wrapped in a spring roll wrapper HALO HALO- crushed ice with evaporated milk, sweet beans and fruits All the dishes were delicious. They also came out at very reasonable wait times but since they were closing the kitchen once we got there, the desserts were served even before the main dishes came out. The ice cream scoops and crushed ice on the desserts we ordered have already melted once we ate them. I liked how well prepared and presented all the dishes were even if all of the staff were ready to go home, but we also felt rushed to finish our dinner right away. I saw this restaurant listed as participating on the Filipino restaurant week advertisement but after contacting them I was informed unfortunately they weren't participating this year. Anyway I still decided to check them out as my fiancé likes to have Filipino food on occasion and that's really not something we cook often at home. We started off with the Lumpiang Shanghai (Pork egg rolls) It was a nice sized portion fried Golden brown and crisp with a nice dipping sauce... nice start to dinner. For our entrees we had the Sizzling Pork Sisig, and the Lechon Kawali accompanied with a double portion of garlic fried rice with extra garlic. I tried a bite of the sisig and it was ok, I think it's more of an acquired taste and hard to describe. My fiancé loved it and said it was very good. I ate the lechon and the garlic rice. This is my dining experience at this restaurant after the pandemic. I was here several years ago and I then made an earlier review on Yelp on this restaurant. The food served here is still good, retaining the quality and size of servings as before. The few observations that I could comment on during this visit are as follows: 1) On the Calamari, it should be served without the mayonnaise already poured on it but instead placed on the side. This is to keep its crispiness and prevent it from getting soggy due to the sauce added on it. 2) The Lechon Kawali could be better presented if made from the same cut of pork and not mixed cuts, 3) the Pakbit was delicious with a good amount of fresh vegetables, 4) the Lumpiang Shanghai is a must order for appetizers, and is best eaten while hot, 5) the restaurant needs a refresh or at least a repainting. This includes the restroom. It is long overdue for an upgrade. It looks tired and worn out. Otherwise, I commend the good service of the staff. They were courteous and friendly. I'm posting because we like the food here, but the service is consistently bad, especially take out orders. We placed an order a few days, way in advanced but when the day came, they said the order was never taken. Mind you, they took down the credit card information and told us the pick up time. The worst is when we went there to pick up the "non-order" we wanted to speak to manager but apparently was in the back but did not want to come out to try to rectify the situation. It was later during the afternoon and we were told that due to staffing issues (only having 1 server, 1 receptionist, 1 chef) we have to order before 3 pm as staff takes a break before dinner service. I made a reservation for a specific time, but we were running late so I decided to call to let them know that we would be about half an hour late. The young lady who answered informed us that they were heavily understaffed and asked me if we would like to place order on the phone so that we wouldn't have to wait. When we got there, we rang the bell and we were greeted with the young lady whom I later discovered to be the hostess, waitress, food runner and bus girl. She promptly checked each of our temperatures before we were seated. She took our drink orders after which, I watched how she managed to care of three other tables that were enjoying their meals. After waiting for about 10 minutes, she came back with our drinks and took our orders. The menu was quite full but unfortunately, they didn't have the appetizer that we were all craving that evening (chicharon bulaklak.) We ordered an array of dishes and each and every one of them were delicious. They were portioned just right (maybe even larger) for a party of five. The flavors and the freshness of the ingredients were all there. Kudos to the chef who prepared them. The crispy pata were all kind of crispy and fatty in the best way. The bulalo took me back to Tagaytay. The pinakbet was made with fresh vegetables. The sisig and the pork BBQ made me want to take a shot with my barkada back home. And you can't have a proper Filipino dinner without rice; garlic fried rice that wast just comforting. I have to admit that I was very hesitant after I was told that they were understaffed, especially after she asked if she could take our orders over the phone before we even arrive. But I was shockingly surprised by how everything turned out and the quality of the food. Very impressed. Although they looked deep fried, the inside had a lightness to them and it came with a nice sweet orange dipping sauce. Would I order them again, probably not but now I can say I have tried this popular Filipino appetizer. When the chicken adobo arrived at the table, my tongue was drooling just from the smell of the fragrant garlic rice. A few pieces of the chicken were more on the dry side but the adobo sauce infused the meat beautifully and the taste was incredible. I even used some of the rice to sop up all the sauce. My husband enjoyed his beef dish. The beef was super tender and flavorful. He thought the meat portion was small, a couple of extra pieces would have been nice. His platter came with a bowl of consommé. I took a sip and did not care for it but he liked it. Their lunch menu is extensive. The pork bbq is delicious i just wish it comes with atchara instead of salad and spiced vinegar( the one i have in the picture is from the chicken skin i ordered. Made a reservation for 6pm and when we came only 2 tables were occupied. Placed our orders for appetizers and shortly after our entree. Appetizers came. An hour has passed and everyone was served their orders. We then asked the server where our food was and she said it goes by ticket and people pre ordered. How can she say pre ordered when we heard people place their orders only when they came. She asked if we added anything to our order.
