Los Cuernos is an…read moreunassuming taqueria which after walking in, you'll discover it actually has a large dining area and an extensive menu of Mexican Classics. I visited recently to try their super breakfast burrito. The couple working here are extremely friendly and hard working people. So how was my burrito? It was ginormous, one of the biggest burritos I've seen in a long time. It was well balanced and all the ingredients were portioned properly. Maybe a little more meat would have been nice though. Overall a very solid Mexican spot in Daly City.

Not welcoming, not friendly, just straight attitude. That already set the tone. Now let's talk tacos. I'm from LA, so when it comes to street tacos, I know what's up. $5.99 for a regular street taco?? And $7.99 for lengua?? Be serious. That's gourmet pricing without gourmet quality. Especially after seeing their old menu prices went from $2.99 to $3.50 to $3.99... and now suddenly almost $6? That price evolution is wild. Respect to the man cooking, he was actually very nice. But kindness alone doesn't justify those prices. The quality just didn't match what they're charging. Inflation is real, but so is value. And this wasn't it.

The birria tacos came with 3 regular sized tacos and honestly each one is pretty dense with meat and cheese. The consome also had some meat although, I think it was beef and not goat. Everything was tender but the flavor was just ok for me. My mom wanted a carnitas super burrito and this was pretty good. Lots of meat and some bits were crispy just how I like it. I wouldn't mind getting it again but I do want to try their al pastor next time. Their fish plate was pretty good as well. Loved the crispness of the fish and it didn't feel greasy or heavy. It came with avocados, rice, beans, lettuce and 4 flour tortillas. I wouldn't mind getting this again. A basket of chips came for each person as soon as we sat down and there was a healthy selection of salsa. I didn't care for the chips itself as they were too salty for me. The ambiance is very festive and there were plenty of people coming in and out. We dined in and found myself wishing they gave real silverware rather than plastic. We were only give one real fork for the fish and it was difficult to break apart. Their plastic cutlery was also pretty flimsy so we mostly ate with our hands. Overall, I'd still come back and try other dishes.

The food looked delicious, eye candy. Parking is limited. It's a small place, but big enough to come in with a fairly large group. We walked in and sat down. I noticed a huge counter with a big television screen playing music videos of Latin music, jamming. There were a couple of tables and cultural decor. It was clean and inviting. The server greeted us and brought us chips and salsa verde. The salsa verde was to my liking, perfect amount of spicy. The server came back and took our orders: - Caldo de res (my order), came with rice, tortillas, and cilantro with onions - Grilled chicken tacos - Chicken quesadilla My caldo res was tasty and so good. I love the flavor of the broth. Big portion for me. I finished it though lol. I tasted hubby's tacos and quesadilla, also yummy. I love that they grilled the chicken, gives the flavor more depth. This will be one of our local spots. Thank you, El Taconazo for cooking for us.

The shrimp cocktail had a lot of shrimp, avocado, and cucumber which was delicious. But the actual cocktail juice was light in flavor. I also loved that they serve saltines with their shrimp cocktail because some places just give chips. The fried fish was delicious and unfortunately I wasn't able to try the aguachilles before they ran out which might mean they were good.

I came for lunch but they still had their breakfast menu and well, I am a sucker for breakfast foods. I had their poblano omelette with chorizo and it was so good! The menu offers a variety of items, and we decided on the elote tots (tater tots and elote street-style corn), an appetizer that sounded different, and for the main dishes, the nachos with added soy chorizo and the spaghetti with Poblano chili sauce, plus a side of soy chorizo. The food came quickly, and the elote tots were amazingly good! The combination of tater tots, the corn, and the cheeses (sauce and crumbled) was amazing mix of textures and flavors. The nachos were good, and the pasta with poblano sauce was also very good. The sauce was creamy, with a slight heat, and very different. The soy chorizo was not my favorite, and in the nachos, the crumbled form of the soy chorizo was better suited as an add than as a side to the pasta (maybe it was intended to be mixed in, but I wanted to eat it separately). Just too crumbled and a little dry for me. The service was great, and thanks to Dioscelyn for that. Overall, a very nice meal. We were not hurried and stayed at the table a bit to chat. A great place if you are in the area.

We got an order of quesobirria ($15 - comes with 3 tacos), and a few regular tacos to try - al pastor, chicken, shrimp ($3.50 each, shrimp is a little more like 3.80?). Their regular tacos are topped with cilantro, onion, + side of medium-spicy salsa, and for reference, their super taco $5.50 come w/ additional cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, avocado. Quesobirria tacos have stewed beef + cheese, and was grilled to perfection so there was some carmelized cheese crust (I requested less cheese but it was still cheesy lol). The consommé was flavorful (like actual stewed meat broth), not thin, and a good amount. Convenient location near 280 and on El Camino. Street parking was pretty easy. The menu outside the truck didn't list the price when I went, but service was friendly & they kindly answered my questions on pricing.

Loud, lively ambiance, warm from the open kitchen and gas lanterns lining the wall. Beautiful interior, with several tall trees in the center under the high peaked ceiling. Complimentary thin house tortilla chips and tasty slightly spicy roasted salsa. Delicious. Housemade tamale side was delicious, and I'd definitely get again. Esquites (street corn) was fresh off the cob which was nice, however it was in a soup of too much mayo--pass. Ceviche and octopus appetizers were delicious, and go well with the complimentary tortilla chips (I prefer thin over the thicker accompanying chips). Short rib was tender in a tasty mojo sauce and comes with warm tortillas so you can make your own little tacos. I still preferred the tamale though. Agua fresca good and horchata fresh, however definitely smaller than what you may be used to. Overall good visit. Will be back when we're in the mood for this type of Mexican food. Though having grown up in SoCal, college in SD, worked a bit in East LA...I generally prefer hole in the wall comfort Mexican food.
