The flavor profile is a savory and comforting taste increased by the pieces of bone in the soup. You can tell the soup was slow cooked with the tender pieces of tripe so soft. The broth was mid-rich with pieces of yuca roots that slightly thickened it with its natural starches. What makes their version of tripe soup unique from other restaurants is the addition of coconut milk. It added a subtle but distinguishable coconut taste to it. First time ordering via Uber Eats and Honduras Kitchen's menu caught my attention. Decided on the Churrasco and Tripe Soup. Food arrived neatly packaged and still warm. Nice presentation of both items. Started with the Churrasco - good flavor throughout. As for the plantains, they were ok. I think they could've been cooked just a bit longer as some pieces were still a tad on the firm side. Read reviews that noted the Tripe Soup as a must, and I must say this was my fave. Never had it this way before - soup on the creamy side. That broth was so savory and yummy. Love the veggies in it and there were some bones with that meat and cartilage on it. So good. Only complaint was that I didn't have a whole lot of tripe pieces - would've liked more of the tripe. I never had Honduran food. So I Googled to see if there is any recommended Latin food and this came up from the research. I visited the place and it hella packed! A lot of people eat here during meal hours. The guy greeted me nicely when I came. Most Hispanics usually assume I'm also Latino but I tell them I speak poquito Español because I'm Filipino. The service is very nice and the food was very delicious. I noticed that in the neighborhood of Excelsior, there are few sketchy looking individuals. There was a customer who was wearing a ski-mask and his pants low. He looks like he was going to rob somebody. LOL! Tweezied food with flowers and gold flakes have their place but when I want humble, comfort food, gimme me the chow hall looking HK Baked Pork Chop. And gimme, Menudo full of tripe and pata. And, supposedly...they've been open for 7 years?! There's SO many mom and pop owned, Central American restaurants in The Mission, Bernal, Excelsior, and Crocker Amazon that doesn't get much love on Yelp which is sad. Honduras Kitchen def needs some love because the Mondongo is BOMB! I was working from home and couldn't get out so I ordered delivery via UberEats. My food arrived piping hot in about 40 minutes. My only feedback is to bag the soup container since there was leakage. F O O D * Regular Baleadas w/ refried beans, sour cream, cheese ($3.50) I didn't get to try it because it was missing from my order. * Cholutecana Baleadas w/ refried beans, sour cream, cheese, scrambled eggs, avocado ($4 each) The first time I tried Baleadas, I fell in love with this Honduran street food. Think, a huge soft breakfast taco made with a thick, handmade flour tortilla. They hella pack their baleadas with mashed beans, eggs, and avocado (a bit underripe) so one is enough for a meal. While good, I prefer the Baleadas at El Honduras in The Mission....their flour tortilla has more of that satisfying chew. * Mondongo: Tripe Soup w/ rice, handmade tortillas ($13): https://bit.ly/3EZ17bM I've tried Mondongo several times and it never quite hit like Menudo for me...until now. The Mondongo was chockfull of tender honeycomb tripe and meltingly soft pig's knuckles. It was too hot to handle but there was lots of collagen-rich goodness on the other side of bone in my pic. The broth was hella good...what makes it a little different than the others I've tried is the nutty creaminess from the coconut milk. There was also two pieces of sweet corn, carrots, and chayote (like a cross between a cucumber and squash). The rice was perfectly cooked, slick and chewy, not mushy. Handmade corn tortillas were thick, chewy, and pliable. Not only was this meal cheap and damn delicious....it lasted me 3.5 meals. Ok, so technically, it's not cheap after the service fees and tip but that's on me and the price of convenience. Honduras Kitchen was a nice introduction to Honduran cuisine. If you haven't had it before, it is similar to Salvadoran and Mexican, though more distantly. The food is hearty and feels homemade with love. The restaurant is very nice and seems almost like a fine dining establishment. But not at all stuffy and quiet. The portion sizes are large but not overwhelming. I would recommend this restaurant, especially if you are Honduran or want to try Honduran food. You do need some cultural capital to go. The waiters may speak to you in Spanish and even I was a little confused about how to eat the food. read more

Was in the city with my brother and we wanted to eat Honduran food. I mistook this place for "Honduran restaurant" which is on mission street as well. But being that we were hungry and were already here, we decided to give this place a try. Also, we hadn't been here before and we had found a parking spot super close by so we thought of giving this place a try. All I know is I wanted my tajadas con pollo And that's exactly what I ordered. My brother on the other hand ordered "Baleadas con Pollo" which have chicken, fried beans, cheese, sour cream, avocado and eggs according to the waiter. He ordered 3 of those and a "Pollo con tajadas" to go. For drinks I ordered an orchata and a coffee for my brother. The place seemed busy, lots of people in and out picking up ordered food. There were also about 4 tables with guests who were eating in just like us. Our drinks arrived first and I gave my orchata a huge sip and I'm not sure what face I made but my brother asked "what's wrong?" my orchata did not taste like an orchata. I actually had never tasted one like that and I have had my share of orchatas. I really can't describe the taste of it, I just know it tasted wrong and weird. My brother made a face as well when he tried it and he said that it seemed like they over burnt something or something like that. Well, the thing is that I did not drink it. I ended up asking for a banana soda. The food arrived shortly after the drinks. It was actually quite fast. I was super excited to dive in my dish but remembered that I had forgotten to say no onions on it but it was okay, I just removed them and put them on my brothers plate which my the way had 3 huge baleadas. The thing was that they didn't have any chicken or eggs in it. They were normal baleadas. Fried beans, sour cream and cheese. Which I did bring it up to the waiter if those were considered the normal baleadas because she noted down "baleadas con Pollo" and those cost a little more than the regular ones. So I wanted to make sure before my brother gobbled them down that she knew they were regular baleadas and not the other ones. She apologized and offered to give us the chicken ones but my brother said it was okay and to not worry about it. So she said she would put them down as regular. When I started to dig in into my dish (after removing all the onions) I put my fork in the chicken and that thing was hard! I mean it was super duper fried chicken but one of those old as hell chicken that has been repeatedly fried. That chicken even seemed hollow. It was just bad Again, my brother looks at me and looks at my plate and asks "what's wrong now?" and I just felt so bad because my brother lives so far away from the city and there are no Honduran restaurants near by where he lives that coming here was like a huge treat for him and to be able to eat the delicious Honduran food that we know it is delicious because we are from Honduras, this place was just not it. At least for our first time in it and our first experience trying it, the food I was served was unacceptable. Like really?? It just makes me think, do you really serve your clients on a regular basis old left over fried chicken and re-fry it? Or was it just me and it was like a one time type of thing? Anyway, I stopped picking at the chicken and just ate some of the fried bananas, which were the only thing on my plate that were eatable. My brother asked for the check, paid and we left. on our way to the car my brother told me he was worried that his chicken would be like mine that just thinking about that made him want to throw it away. I told him to let me know when he got home if it was the same. Come to think of it I still need to call him to see if it was eatable. Which I would have taken a picture to upload. I decided to give this place a try since I pass by it often and wow am I mad for not having done so sooner! I ordered for pick up right at opening time and everything was so fresh; even after my 15 minute walk home! The flavors were like a party in my mouth. Underrated Their burgers and fries was actually good better than the Mcdonald's burgers. Their fries was way better too. I came here not because it's my first time but it's the closest to my house. I love these type of foods and i might try most of them. Cons: Food is 10/10 the only cons is the looks and maybe the windows, also the decorations and furniture. It looks wear down and the glass door on the entrance is severely cracked. Not sure if that was vandalized, but first impressions i almost thought it was the wrong restaurant and i was about to walk passed it based off of appearance. Food was amazing. The masa for the Baleada is soft and airy, the frioles taste smoothe with a hint of salt, the huevo was fluffy and the crema was cold which gave a great balance from the heat of the food. 10 out of 10. I wish I had taken a picture but I could only use my hands to hold and pull apart the baleada. read more

The food is five stars the atmosphere is a 1. It's like a rave in there. You can't hear anything they blast the music so loud. The other day the cook had her boyfriend in the cooking station where she goods and they were all lovey dovey. It was strange, unsanitary in my opinion. I went out to eat lunch with some friends for the first time there. The place is small but comfortable.The food was decent, it had a good taste but the chicken and the meat was a little dry. The customer service was poorly. My friend needed to go because he had to go back to work, before he left , he explained the waitress that veryone was in a time limit and paid everything so we didn't have to worry about anything. It was really nice of him! I asked one of the waitress to please gave me a box to go. The guy complied, than he went inside the kitchen started talking to other workers and he kept looking at my table, the restaurant was not busy at all, there were other two clients waiting to be served which he definitely didn't served either. After 15 or 20 minutes of observing that he was still talking and not even doing anything I looked at my time and I decided to go up to the register and asked once again for my box. He ignored me twice and finally complied with my request. There waitress was rude, very unprofessional and for sure no consideration or empathy towards the client. read more
