Came here Saturday morning they had just opened and people were already sat in the restaurant. I was greeted fairly fast and ordered to go. I ordered 2 bean and cheese, 3 pork and cheese papusas and an order of maduros. The wait wasn't too long and the food was so hot and fresh! I haven't had papusas in such a long time and they definitely didn't disappoint! $24 for 5 papusas and an order of maduros. Portions are generous and would definitely come back! read more

The server (older lady) was very sweet, but kind of slow. When I came in, I sat myself and the table I sat at was kind of dirty. She came over and was apologetic about the dirtiness. She then proceeded to clean the table. I was able to order (mostly à la carte items) First plate came out I devoured the plantains (maduro) with the salad and fried cheese (yummy.) Then came the pupusa. This was okay. I ordered the revuelta ( oro & cheese) but it appeared it did not have any cheese. I have been here many times before, and the pupusas have been cheesy, so not sure what happened yesterday. I hope the next time I go, it is more cheesy. read more

Family dinner with mom and mom didn't want to go out. Brother Gilbert and his wife, Annie, suggested Al Fin which features Latin Cuisine, primarily Nicaraguan, which we have never had before. Gilbert was familiar with it so we asked him to take charge. And take charge he did! We had so much food. Wherever he could, he ordered Combination Plates which added Plantain, Fried Cheese, Gallo Pinto (Seasoned Rice and Beans with some veg) and Cabbage Salad for $3 over the price of the Ala Carte menu. We had Chile Relleno, Steak Quesadilla, Nacatamal, Carne Asada, Lengua en Salsa Roja, Churrasco, Chancho con Yuca Frita, and Pupusas - Queso, Queso con Suquini, Queso con Pollo. We may have had other items as well. I tried to get photos of everything but the table that seats 10 was covered with clamshells and other containers and I know I missed some. We liked most of the items but some flavors were definitely better than others. I've always been a fan of good Chile Relleno and what I had was pretty good. The sauce also made the rice delicious. The Lengua was also quite tasty and added to the rice as well. We would definitely be game to order some of the items we liked and also try some other flavors. read more

The food was not very good. The carne asada was okay, the maduros, and gallo pinto were okay. I only liked the ensalada. The pitalla drink tasted like just lemonade as opposed to dragonfruit drink. The place itself was nice and clean. The service was not great, the male server gave no eye contact and would angle his body away from you when talking. I don't write negative stuff but I like to write what is not up to what is offered. In this case from our experience, most of the items we ordered were overpriced and not close to having Nicoya flavors at all. we ordered nacatamal (not even close to being), a combo plate with chancho frito(cold, gallo pinto no flavor chancho not seasoned), vigoron (awful, cabbage yuca no flavor), we asked for something spicy they brought us some vinegar with carrots and no chiles in it, for a sauce they offered us Tapatio (chilorio was not in the picture), for drinks we ordered cacao which was from a bag, not real cacao. bottom line is that an improvement is a must to be an authentic Nicaraguan food. read more

I'm sorry but this restaurant is getting worst by the day. I bought a nacatamal and it was awful. It was watery inside and the masa was between cooked and raw the potatoes was burnt on one half didn't taste or smell like nacatamal and the pork was a little weird. Also bought a Baho and that was nasty there's water underneath the meat, yuca and the maduro was smashed like mashed potatoes no flavor. I don't know but it seems like the way they cook their Baho is they boil the maduro and yuca in water first and the meat probably in some pressure cooker. The Baho is supposed to be cooked in vapor with the banana leaf and i think that the nacatamal is not wrapped tightly and water sips in making clumsy. I ordered a Indio viejo many months ago and it was more of the same and I didn't want to leave a bad review because sometimes you can have an off day but this place is having too many bad day's and their food is extremely inconsistent. The angle this is in the steak looks thick but it was thin and small- there's more plantains on the plate than steak for it being a "steak" meal. Really disappointed. We have been here before a couple of times. I love Nicaraguan food...having grown up with it, I have some personal favorites but it always goes down to the traditional, gallo pinto, platanos...cacao. This place has great cacao! My sister and mom always just drive to get the cacao if we are in the area. That was delicious! I ordered the gallo pinto with chicken thighs, platanos, queso, and cabbage salad. The dish was very underwhelming, unfortunately. The platanos and queso were great. The gallo pinto was not seasoned so well and I felt the proportions of beans to rice was just too much. The chicken thighs (the star of the plate) were not seasoned at all and was very dry. I was surprised to how little flavor it had and was just plain. I've had pollo asado in Nicaragua and it's delicious! Even in little fritanga places. So for the $14.99 price tag, this place didn't hit the mark. My mom's sopa the res was good, and the beef was tender. I would probably try that next time. read more
