The deals on meats are amazing, especially on Tuesdays when they usually have sales going on. I come here at least once a month to make a big order of meats and produce. Because of that, I try to come prepared with a list to help things run smoother. I also understand how busy the meat department can get, and I respect the pressure employees are under during rush hours. Unfortunately, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at around 12:55 PM, I had a very disappointing experience. A female employee (bleached blonde hair, wearing a pink shirt) saw me waiting as I was first in line. I kindly asked her if she could take my order, even trying my best to speak in Spanish, though I'm not fluent. She responded in Spanish that she was not taking orders and that she was off the clock, and completely dismissed me. However, right after that, the man behind me asked her for help, and she told him, "Yes, of course I can assist you and take your order." This is not the first time I've felt uncomfortable with her. On a previous visit, I received negative looks from her when I struggled to pronounce "chicken thighs" in Spanish. As a customer, no one should feel judged or treated differently for not being fluent in a language. On a positive note, another employee (wearing a black sweater and black hat) stepped in and helped me without any issue. He was kind, respectful, and even recommended shrimp that was on sale. His attitude and customer service were greatly appreciated. I hope management can address this, because customers should feel welcomed and respected regardless of language barriers. I will continue to shop here, but I do hope to see improvement in how customers are treated. Dejo mi opinión honesta aquí. Realmente me gusta venir a La Perla Tapatía y comprar mis productos. Por eso trato de venir preparada con una lista para que todo sea más rápido. También entiendo que el departamento de carnes puede estar muy ocupado, y respeto la presión que tienen los empleados durante las horas pico. Una empleada (rubia, con una camiseta rosa) me vio esperando, ya que yo era la primera en la fila. Le pedí amablemente si podía tomar mi orden, incluso intentando hablar en español, aunque no lo hablo perfectamente. Ella me respondió en español que no estaba tomando órdenes, que estaba fuera de su horario, ignorando completamente mi petición. Sin embargo, justo después, el hombre detrás de mí le pidió ayuda y ella le respondió: "Sí, claro que puedo ayudarte y tomar tu orden." No es la primera vez que me siento incómoda con ella. I spent three weeks in Turlock in December 2022 with my wife and her family and La Perla was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. They have a wide selection of products, their staff were always friendly and helpful, the hot food was super tasty and I had probably 18 ( not kidding) of these pastries they make with fruit and cream cheese over the three weeks. my shopping was going so well I was getting my veggies..and as I made my way to the meat department the staff there ignored us standing there they where picking and choosing who to help when I was there first before the 2 customers got there...then I was checking out my groceries and the young lady behind the register seemed she wasn't having a good day because she was packing my groceries in a very sloppy manner she damage my onions when she threw them in the bag she was packing....will not be shopping there no more read more

I've been here a few times with my family that lives towards this area & each time we've shopped here there's always issues. On my most recent visit I came to buy tomatillos to make a green salsa & it was a disappointment to see so many of them were rotten. I was able to find a few good ones, but it's just so ridiculous to me that with so many employees that no one is looking through the produce & throwing out rotten products. It's more than just the tomatillos. I've seen onions, tomatoes, apples, bananas, etc rotten. The meat we've bought here is decent, but the pan dulce we've bought here has come out stale sometimes. As other reviewers have mentioned there are flies in the store, but I don't get as upset to see flies like hello you live in a rancho area it's to be expected just make sure you are thoroughly washing your produce. What I do take issue with is that there most definitely seems to be a lack of organization. Whoever is the manager needs some retraining or needs to be replaced. I love the burritos and tacos here. All of the meats are really good. Sometimes they have some chicken in a creamy chipotle sauce. Mmm Mmm Mmm. I like the cooked blood mix too. I don't know how to spell it but I think it's Sangré. They BBQ out side also. read more

My god father of my daughter had bought a gold bracelet from the ppl who sell gold there and they said if a piece were to fall off they would guarantee there item, well kids play a lot and the bracelet fell off one day, so we took it back and let her know that it was purchased from her, so she stood by her word, a month went by and no calls, so my wife called them and they said they had just gotten it in, well turns out they replace half of the bracelet for 3 golds mix and they never asked if they could, the owner said it was much more expensive then 14q, so half of her bracelet is crap and the other real, so watch out for these ppl, I'm never going to buy from them again, in my eyes they deserve a fat zero. read more

Ok great selection of Mexican products however if you don't mind all the damn flies in the bread section where you choose your delicious delights go there. In the back of the house the hot food department has flies wandering at times around the steam table. Staff at the meat department section wear gloves however when the put your meat in your bag and hand it to you they use the same bloody gloves that they handled the meat with to give you your bag of meat with. NOT SANITARY. I mentioned the fly problem to a manager they simply said they know but the owner would do anything BUT DAMN IT TRY. I really wanted this to be my go to place for the puppy business need for chew bones. As a business owner I make it a point to take customer service to a vip level for all clients. I am extremely disappointed. I was told to come back today. So I did. Only 2 customers in the store, 2 hrs before closing. I waited 12 minutes to be greeted and then shot down with "we don't have any". The butcher with the largest meat selection DOESN'T HAVE BONES???? Its not me ur letting down it's my pups. And that to me is un-nerving. they are like my children. The problem is the lack of customer service. What I have learned in business is that a little goes a long way. Obviously not important at this estavlishment. 2 trips my wasted time and gas 12 minute wait to be greeted ... then being told "sorry but we don't want to dirty our dirty machine to chop some bones while we are pre closing 2 hours early" & not in those words. Excellently made Mexican Food. I Had 3 Tacos, 1 Pastor, 1 Carnitas and 1 Carne Asada. Meat was cooked and seasoned properly.

Some of the employees dont even know english & are rude too you if you ask for help .. Really bad customer service here. I only go because there meat is really good other than that they need new staff. read more

Had to update this review as of lately I have noticed that their Mexican pastry is no longer as good as it used to be. Don't know if they got a new baker or it's the quality cuts the company have made but I'm definitely not buying their pastries anymore. Which is too bad cause so few places these days makes a good tasting Mexican pastry. Don Juan's does but living in Turlock it's not as convenient. read more

This store has made previous cakes for me in the past and I can say is been descent for the price, but I just picked up my baptism cake and I can say that is the worst cake I've ever seen. They did such a horrible job. No joke looks like a kid made this cake. So upset right now. But I'm here at the event and no time to take it back. read more

This has to be the most disgusting place I have ever had the misfortune to shop. I purchased a pound of ground beef for my dinner the following night and by the time I went to use it the meat had already went bad. I took it back to the store and everyone acted like I was trying to con them out of a hundred dollars. I had an urge to literally force feed it to the man that was defending the meat dept. If any of those IDIOTS would have stopped and listened for a second they would have understood that I was trying to bring the problem to their attention not get a refund!!!!!!
