    Burrito
    Michelle S.

My bf and I just needed something quick to take back to our hotel after a long day, so we stopped by La Piña Cantina. We got a burrito and the shrimp ceviche, and honestly... it was giving tourist pricing with not much to back it up The ceviche was fine, but super overpriced for the portion. The chips-to-ceviche ratio made zero sense--like we had way more chips than ceviche and ended up just eating plain chips lol. I get that it's a touristy area, but the value just wasn't there. The burrito was decent, but overall the food felt kind of meh for the price. Probably wouldn't go out of my way for it again, but it did the job ‍

We were looking for a laid-back spot with that chill Waikiki street vibe, and this place fit the bill. We ordered the three tacos and some calamari to share--just a light snack before heading back to the hotel to rest before dinner. The food was okay--nothing special, more of a quick fix if you're craving Mexican food. Service was decent, nothing to rave about but not bad either. What really made the stop worth it was the ambiance. Sitting out by the street, soaking in the Waikiki energy and people-watching, was exactly what we were in the mood for.

This place always comes through! Great experience every time we've come (which has been 5-6 times). Service is quick and the waiters are attentive. It's located in the Kūhiō food hall across from Kona coffee. Seating is by the street, so it's great for people watching. We've ordered almost everything on the menu, but our favorite is by far their nachos. They're huge! Definitely enough to share. We've had both their carne asada and shredded beef and both are delicious and flavorful. Their quesadillas and burritos are also great choices. Drinks are 10/10. We got their standard and spicy margaritas which were perfectly balanced. Definitely check this spot out if you're craving Mexican.

We stopped by La Pina on a Thursday night with my wife and family. The overall experience was a mixed bag. The staff was friendly, which was a definite plus, but they were a little slow--especially considering there were only about four occupied tables, including ours. For my main dish, I ordered the specialty shrimp tacos. I was pretty disappointed, as they were surprisingly bland given all the delicious ingredients listed, like pineapple, fried shrimp, cabbage, and sauce. My wife had an issue with her order; her al pastor tacos did not arrive with the rest of our food and came out much later. However, it wasn't all bad! My niece ordered the birria ramen, and she said the broth was rich and very good, so there's clearly some excellent cooking happening in the kitchen. If the speed and consistency can be improved, this place has potential. Outside seating was great for people watching.

Some of the best shrimp tacos I had in Hawaii. Wish I got 3 more. Can become busy with a line but they were quick and efficient. I also got a margarita and wish I had said a flavor cause it was a little strong. This is located at the international market place in the food court area. Pretty cool vibe and lots of seating everywhere.

Here for a wedding in Hawaii and I've been craving birria tacos! The only Birria tacos I ever tried was disneyland in California, and it's hard to find the right place for it. Thanks to Yelp I found a delicious birria spot here in Hawaii. There's a lot of restaurants on this strip and I'm glad I found this place. The meat is soft and flavorful! the tortilla is crunchy probably dipped in their birria sauce It comes in 3 with side of hot sauce and lime. I love spicy so this is perfect ! Not too spicy though 10/10

Had some great mexican food during my time in Honolulu! Got some delicious Birria Tacos, and chips/guac. If you're looking for something to have a on a night out on the street of Waikiki would definitely recommend. 8/10 recommend!

La pina cantina is located in the international marketplace food court and is a solid go to bar that's pretty much open whenever we're in the area. The cocktails are boozy, but nothing overly special--definitely targeted at tourists passing through. Bartenders are friendly enough, and for a food court, bar, we're happy with it every visit. Outside of the bar, there's occasionally live music in the food court area, so it's a fun spot for local entertainment.

Decent enough spot in a convenient food hall setting. The cashier did not greet me, just looked up after returning to the register from another task. They weren't rude, just phoning it in. The tacos were fine, but you could tell the rice was freezer burnt before cooking. If you're hungry, there's plenty of other options. If you must have Mexican food, this is an Ok choice, if a bit pricy, for cafeteria food,

I love Kuhio market and La Pina Cantina is one of the gems located at in this market. I ordered a margherita and the fish tacos. The fish was either marlin or Mahi. It was very good. It was moist and flavorful. The staff and bartenders were great. The food came out quick. The seating is open air but there is always an island breeze. I will definitely visit again.

Walked by this place and saw their loaded nachos, we knew we gotta make a stop before we headed back home. Let me tell you. It did not disappoint! They loaded the nachos with lots of toppings. They did not skimp on the meat. It was perfect with a cold beer. Also, they have patio sitting for you to people watch while sipping on a cold beer and tasty nachos. Highly recommend!

5 stars for the Fish Tacos!! Honestly the best I've ever had. For me it was an explosion of flavors meshed perfectly together with a freshly deep fried plump piece of fish. So good! I wish I had this near my house or actually maybe not or I would be in big trouble! lol I wish I was here long enough to try the shrimp tacos and sad I found this spot 2 days before we leave. I've had it twice! My only recommendation for them would be to make a 4 taco deal because 3 just isn't enough! I needed one more and they don't sell a la carte.

She made reservations for us, which is recommended. You check in on the first floor and are then escorted into the speakeasy. I won't share much more, as one should experience it themselves. But the ambiance is dim, semi-private, on-theme, and cozy yet lively. There's a bar area as well as the dining area where we sat. Service was fine. We were checked on periodically, but the food did take quite some time to come out. We shared some pupus, off their happy hour menu. We got the Smashed Cucumbers, House Karaage, and Sinigang Fries. The cucumbers weren't spicy, even though they were listed as spicy. It was more oily, but still crisp and refreshing. The fries were perfect for snacking on, with a nice sour-savory flavor from the sinigang. The karaage was extremely big! Not too crispy like usual, but still meaty. We also asked for six, but only received five pieces. My friend got the Lamb Ribs as well, which fell off the bone, and she seemed to enjoy them. My other friend and I shared the Ulu Taco Flight. We chose Suadero, Pork Belly, and Seafood as our protein. I enjoyed the seafood; it was lobster. It was sweet and mild but nicely cooked. The aioli was a nice addition. The pork belly was fine; it was quite spicy, which was a bit overpowering. My friend who had the beef taco said the wagyu was great but also quite spicy. The tacos themselves were quite small for the price. Overall, if you're into speakeasies or curious, Vintage Books is worth a visit at least once. The food is creative, and the drinks are good. Glad I could come and hang out with my friends. Find them on the ground floor. Parking is validated in the building; give your ticket to the host.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

For round two, the Espressing My Love was a great take on an espresso martini, and Michael built my wife a custom drink off her favorite flavors and nailed it again. We paired it with the smoked mozzarella and salami grilled cheese and Ho Farms tomato soup, and this is where it really hit.
