Food was great! Staff are friendly and attentive, a little cramped but it's nice to eat outside if the weathers good.

You will not find better pupusas around than at La Placita. I've tried them all and there's not a single one I don't recommend. A couple faves are cheese and habanero and the pork. Try to resist the urge to eat all of the cabbage slaw they bring out beforehand because you definitely want to put that on your pupusas. The guacamole is also super fresh and delicious!

Veggie pupusa, shredded beef tacos & a veggie taco.

My go to spot anytime I'm craving pupusas! Decided to try a cpl tacos today too & they did not disappoint! Courtesy chips/salsa bc they were extra busy during lunch Food still didn't take too long to hit my table. Always great service! Good selection of drinks & other goodies in the store. Inside seating w/ two picnic tables out front. Y'all go support this great local business!!

Don't sleep on this little hidden gem! Best papusas!! We always stop when we make it out this way.

While you wait for the homemade pupusas you will get a basket of chips, Salvadoran slaw and some hot sauces

Well, sorry yelpers in advance it's taken me two years of stopping in to finally write a review for this amazing place. I'm going to chalk it up to being selfish, as I wanted this place to be my hidden gem. I figured it's time to share with you guys. The staff always friendly, helpful and attentive. The owner always present and makes you feel as if you are coming into his house and he wants you there to enjoy his amazing food. Truly the most authentic Salvadoran pupusas you will have. After you place your order you will be brought a generous portion of Salvadoran slaw (amazing) with a big basket of chips and some specialty sauces with great flavor. (I could sit in this place for hours to take it all in and good people watching) Through the years of enjoying the food here, I've tried a variety of the pupusas and my go too will always be the bean and cheese. While your food is being made, enjoy all sorts of cool unique products to buy from South America and pick a few specialty drinks too from the cooler. I will continue to make this a priority stop when coming through Sherman. Advise - nothing - you are the best!!!

If you're looking for a cheap, unique, and delicious dining option, this El Salvadorian restaurant is the place to go. It's in an old mechanics garage and the main draw is a dish called pupusa. We've sampled every type of item on the menu and have enjoyed it all. This is a super unique dining experience and is really only known by the locals.

Don't be scared to try this place!! It's authentic and flavorful. Just ask the person taking your order what's best and they will help you out! Can't go wrong with the papusas though. Very very good. Put the slaw and salsa roja on your papusa and eat it like a taco that's the traditional way

I first heard about this spot from a BBQ server in Lewisville (food people know food, so I trust…read more'em). It's a bit of a trek from where we live, but worth the journey--plus, fun fact: they're building DFW's second Bojangles in the same strip mall. (Exciting times, people.) We hit up lunch, which seemed like a great deal. I had a fajita craving, so mixed chicken and steak it was, while hubby, a true Tex-Mex traditionalist, went for a chile relleno. But let's pause for a moment--why is finding real-deal Tex-Mex in DFW such a struggle? (I have questions.) Our waiter, Able, was warm, welcoming, and on it with drinks and a glorious chip trio featuring: A warm black bean dip (our fave) A fresh green salsa A smoky red salsa And then... my fajitas arrived, SIZZLING like they were trying to set off the fire alarm. Huge portion, served with all the fixings--rice, beans, tortillas (not house-made, but miles better than grocery store versions), sour cream, pico, lettuce, and cheese. I barely made a dent in 1/3 of it. Leftovers = tomorrow's best meal, confirmed. Can't wait to return and tackle their $7.99 enchilada plate on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Marking my calendar now. Bathrooms were clean. I would say the booths need to be recovered as some were duck-taped, and they were a little low for this shortie!

We ordered only pupusas, mixed with chicharron and cheese and although the size was generous the cheese was weird, like watery and it barely had chicharron. Repollo and salsa were fantastic, so were the beans and the salsas that came with the chips (not a fan of the dyed chips though). Service was very attentive. Overall not a fan.

I got a cubano, and it was a large portion that I was able to take home part of for another meal. I think the pickles could've been more pickle and less cucumber taste, but I loved the mustard and overall it was a fantastic sandwich. The guy who served us was kind and even made sure our drinks were cool for us. The less good: it's a bit of a run down vibe inside, and there were leaks and AC failings inside when we were there. The menu is a bit hard to discern if you're unfamiliar and only available on QR codes at the tables. My bf got a pork dish and mentioned that it was all kind of one note. His dish was more expensive than my sandwich by several dollars and you can see from my picture that he got much less food. Overall, I left feeling kind of wishy washy about this place. Perhaps it would be a great place to order unique delivery from rather than dining in, and I can appreciate the specialty food options overall.
