Been here a few times. They do a great job love the fresh salsa bar. One time there were some ingredients missing on my burrito that already barely had anything since I don't eat meat & cheese. That was a bummer but still didn't waste much of it. I definitely love coming here (:

I returned here tonight. I am revisiting my review as well, awarding 4 stars. I found the tacos more moist and flavorful tonight than on my previous visit. I wholeheartedly recommend you come here for tacos, along with their other menu offerings.

Nice little spot in Thousand Oaks. Got the breakfast burrito with steak and bacon and it hit the spot. Tortillas warmed and cooked properly (no microwave bs). Just the right amount of each ingredient in the burrito!! I tried 3 of their salsa's from the salsa bar and all three were very good. None of them watered down. Great flavors. Might favorite was their habanero salsa. Legit hot. I am good with heat, but this gave me the nice little forehead sweats from how spicy it was. Horchata was delicious! The guys behind the counter were nice and helpful with my order. All around great spot. I will be visiting this place often.

Pretty darn good and open late... had the lengua burrito and it was full of flavor. Service is super quick. They offer the option of homemade corn tortillas for the tacos. Will be back to see if there's consistency. Another customer had ordered mulitas with sautéed onions... that's what I'm having next time!

Asada Burrito is delicious especially with their habenro sauce so good!

I been ordering lunch from La Poblana atleast twice a week for last like 2 months and its definitely the real deal. The Asada Burrito is and they have good quality steak. But what always is a make or break for me is the hot sauces and La Poblana got it down there green sauce is really good butttt the habenro sauce is freaking delicious if your in the area this is a must try I highly recommend for sure

I love these tacos. Al Pastor and Carne Asada are both truly divine. The Habanero Salsa is unique (the bright Orange one in the salsa bar) that will melt your face and your worries right away. This place is popular and always has people coming through, and service is still quick and welcoming. It's a nice, happenin taco shop. I go for the Tacos but I had a Burrito once and it was one of the best burritos that I have ever had. I've brought folks here who have confirmed that the burrito is unrivaled. Enjoy La Poblana!!

First time here and I'll be back. I think this may be my new spot for Mexican food. Hubby and I both orderrd a dry chicken burrito with whole beans, 2 shrimp tacos, 1 pastor taco, and a side of beans & rice for $38. Everything tasted great and I love that they added grilled onion on each taco. The salsa bar is well stocked and fresh. Chips are available for you to serve up. I'm excited to try all their tacos, breakfast burrito, and maybe a sandwich in the future. I'm so glad I finally tried this spot.

~ SOLID GRAB AND GO SPOT FOR TACOS ~ A friend suggested La Poblana Mexican Grill for a late night snack, and I feel like that's just what it's perfect for... a grab and go to satisfy a craving. I would rate the experience overall as a 3.5. The vibe is relaxed, the inside is clean, and the staff are friendly. I love that they bring your to-go orders to your table instead of making you walk back to the counter. Now, onto the food. I tried the pastor and asada tacos. The pastor was pretty solid, with good flavor, tender meat, and nice grilled onions, but when I asked if there were pinapples in it, I was told no - just marinated in the juice. However, when I took a bite, I definitely got a chunk of pineapple that I was trying to avoid. The asada was alright--pretty average. The tacos are handmade but a bit small, and for $3.50 each, I expected a little more bang for my buck. I don't think I'll keep it in my regular taco rotation, but I'm curious to see how they improve as they settle in-- I'd recommend it as a spot to try if you're in the area.

My friend recommended this place and I think the experience overall depends on what you get and also likely might be even better if you eat it there vs to go. I'm still undecided if my meal changed a lot since I had it to go vs if I would have eaten it there fresh because my review for now is that this spot food wise is more a 3.5 but bumping up because the service was so lovely. This new casual Mexican dining spot is located in Thousand Oaks off Moorpark Rd. It was easy to find and while they only have like 6 parking spots I was able to get a spot in front no problem. The outside looked nice and when I walked in it was definitely inviting. The inside was clearly remodeled. Looked wonderful inside and very clean. They have some tables inside and like two outside, but for lunch it was nice that there were seats left as it did get busy. The staff here are lovely. The gal who took my order was super nice and friendly. Definitely service here rocks. She was very welcoming and took my order no problem. I also appreciate that vs calling my number to walk back up to the counter, one of the girls brought my to go bag to where I was sitting. Super nice. I'd definitely say friendless and service were easily 5 stars. Prices kind of depend on what you're getting. I felt $3.50 for the quality of tacos I got was a little too steep. They weren't super fabulous BUT when I think about the fact that I got two tacos, a massive burrito, and chips/salsa for $20 that doesn't seem bad either. I guess I just didn't love the tacos completely or some of the meats so that's where I'm torn. My pastor taco was a solid 4/5. However the carnitas and asada were mid. Didn't taste like good quality meat. The asada was dry and chewy. The carnitas were average - for me it's a preference thing, I like mine fatty but with a little crisp. These weren't that way, so I wouldn't say they were cooked wrong but not my style. The best bite was the pastor. Unfortunately my pastor was a little overcooked but the marinade was delicious, loved the grilled onions and small pineapple pieces. I'd come back for the pastor tacos and I'd eat them there so they are fresher. The rest of the proteins I wasn't in love with. A solid 3.5 quick Mexican spot in town but not up there in my top favorites. Maybe they need more time since they are new. At least I can say the interior was very nice for a casual place, you'd feel comfortable dining in and the service was super hospitable and on it. So that's a plus.

La Poblana Mexican Grill... The newest Mexican spot in Thousand Oaks, CA. It is also the second Mexican spot in town (at least that I'm aware of) that started as a Food Truck within the city limits and has grown to serving its customers in a brick & mortar store front. To that, I say Congratulations! Your perseverance and determination to grow your business model has paid off and I commend all of your efforts. Although I had never eaten at the former food truck, I was excited to try this place out when I saw it being advertised on an IG account that I follow which showcases new and upcoming businesses within the surrounding Conejo Valley. ------------------------- When it comes to Mexican food, I have very high standards. There is no hiding, no ducking and no faking Good, Quality tasting Mexican food. You either have it, or you don't. But sometimes, there is a little bit of wiggle room for the in-between (the gray area if you will). Let's come back to this in a bit. --------------------- Last month, after taking my daughter to her soccer practice, I decided to just pick up dinner. I remembered that La Poblana had recently opened so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to not have to cook and to try out the newest Mexican spot that I had seen advertised on Instagram. Upon walking in, I was graciously greeted and given the time to look over the menu. Me personally, I'm for sure a taco guy. My wife, she's hands down a burrito girl. That's ok, more tacos in the world for me ;) As for our kids... They are Team Taco!! Being that it was my first time, I went a little wild to really get a feel for the place. A couple of Pastor Tacos, 3 Asada Tacos, A chicken taco, a shrimp taco, Arroz y Frijoles (rice & beans), a carne asada burrito, & 2 Mexican cokes! And while I waited for the food to be prepared, I went to town at their self service salsa bar. Salsa Verde, Avocado salsa, pickled onions with habanero, jalapeño's, & limes... Ya, Like I said... I. Went. To. Town. =) Once the food was ready, I loaded it into the car and went straight home to get my tacos on! -----The Presentation----- Everything looked normal, appetizing and had all the regulars you'd expect along with a few bonuses. My tacos had... -onions (Check) -cilantro (Check) -limes (Check) -Sautéed Onion petals & sliced cucumber on the side??... Interesting! I did upgrade my shrimp taco to a homemade corn tortilla instead of their "store bought" corn tortillas that I kept on my other tacos... Honestly, I couldn't really tell the difference. -----Quality----- To be fair and perfectly honest, the tacos overall are very far from the worst tacos that I've ever had, but not close to being the best tacos that I've ever had either. (This is the gray area I mentioned earlier). Although not bad, something was just a miss in my humble opinion. At the end of the day... I take everything into consideration, weigh all of the facts and then determine a fair rating. Considering they are fairly new to the brick & mortar location, I definitely think there's some kinks that need to be worked out until they find their groove. -The use of handwritten signs at the register and the salsa bar... This is a no-go and not a great look. -The option of having homemade corn tortillas for .75 cents more versus non-homemade corn tortillas for no extra charge when you can't tell the difference... I say pick one or the other. My vote is to stick with store bought. -The higher priced "premium" items that don't really need to be that high priced (i.e. enchiladas for $16.95, shrimp quesadillas for $16.95 when the shrimp used are the small, basic, probably frozen kind... Chicken Enchiladas for $17 bucks??? Yikes! And tacos ranging from $3.50-3.75 to even $4.25-4.50 by upgrading to a handmade tortilla won't do well by your local based clientele, especially the Hispanic customers who know a tacos value & worth... These prices, individually are one thing, but everyone knows tacos are ordered at a minimum of 3, up to 4-6 on average per person. Do the math! That's not sustainable for your repeat local customers who again, know the value & worth of a good tasting taco. These are all clear signs which separate a well oiled machine of a restaurant to a brand new, out of the box start up restaurant/business model. Kinks can be fixed, kinks can be ironed out, and I hope for La Poblana sake, they do. I'll definitely give them a second shot, and I can only hope you give them your business as well. Best of Luck & Welcome to the neighborhood.

And in a way, that's exactly what El Sancho Cantina is: an escape. A secret. A little taste of something else. Whether you slide in for lunch, happy hour, or dinner, El Sancho is where you come to cheat on your routine. Tucked into Thousand Oaks, it's a getaway hidden in plain sight. Sit at the bar, let the cool breeze drift through, and allow the Spanish ballads to work their magic. For a moment, you'll forget where you are--and believe you've wandered into a dreamy cantina somewhere deep in Mexico. Start with the "El Viejo"--their riff on an Old Fashioned. Let the applewood smoke swirl above the glass as you lean in. The aroma hits first, then the deep flavors of añejo tequila and Mexican whiskey settle in with smooth confidence. Sip slow. This isn't a race--it's a seduction. If you're looking for something a little lighter--a healthy balance between indulgence and intention--try the two taco plate with the green salad substitution. I went for one Potato taco, one Shredded Chicken taco, and swapped out the rice and beans for a salad of mixed greens and cucumber, dressed with balsamic vinaigrette and a squeeze of fresh lime. The flavors were bright, clean, and satisfying. I walked away full--but not heavy. If I was meeting my Sancha after, I could've easily gone for a stroll. Maybe even dessert. But don't let me lead you down the wrong path--the tacos and cocktails are already all the temptation you need. And if that post-lunch lull starts to creep in, fight back with the "El Cafecito"--a soulful wake-up call of Licor 43, Kahlúa, cold brew coffee, and chocolate bitters. My personal pick over an espresso martini--bold, smooth, and unapologetically delicious. So yes, you might be cheating on SoCal for an hour with Mexico vibes, but El Sancho doesn't judge. In fact, it invites you back--with open arms, a strong pour, and just the right amount of trouble.

I ordered the rojo chilaquiles, no meat, with an over-medium egg and this dish was a 10/10. The red sauce (almost orange) was packed with flavor without being spicy (a kindness I appreciated at 10am), and the tortilla chips somehow stayed perfectly crunchy. Texturally? A dream. This was one of the best chilaquiles dishes I've had in a very long time, especially in the 805 so I'll definitely be back for these again soon. Portions were perfect and while the dish was simple, it was well executed. I washed it all down with a refreshing jamaica agua fresca. Last note: don't skip the dessert counter. I left with a flan cake, and next time I'm trying their chocoflan hybrid (highly recommended by the staff). This spot is a great local establishment and I really hope more people check them out.
