Stopped by La Poblana on Sunday morning and it was busy. After eating there, I could tell why it is so popular. Our server, Ruby was very attentive and welcoming. We alstarted with the tortillas and cheese. The tortillas were so soft and had the most perfect flavor. The menudo was packed with meat and hominy. The menudo had great flavor and the broth was clean. The sope was very crispy and soft on the inside. The asada was nicely seasoned and cooked. I wanted to update my review for this restaurant, and it is strictly for the tamales. I recently drove by and decided to stop in and grab a few tamales to go. I got one jalapeno and cheese, one chicken, and one pork tamale. I don't know if they have new staff or what happened, but the tamales were TERRIBLE!! I ate the jalapeno and cheese tamale as soon as I got home, as that is my favorite type. It was awful! The cheese was hard and so was the masa. I forgot to take a picture, but I couldn't even finish it. It was that bad! I tried the chicken tamale next. The chicken was flavorful, but the masa was hard and dry. The last tamale I tried was the pork. It was the best out of the three. However, the masa was hard and dry. I am really disappointed because they always had the best tamales in my area. I was very disappointed with today's food. We got the chilaquiles plate, the server made it seem like the plate came with sour cream and avocado, we requested it on the side, but there was an additional cost. I got a hard shell beef taco, the lettuce was from a bag, not fresh which made the taco taste terrible. I paid with a credit card and was charged an additional fee. The prices are high and the food is not very good. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

Little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. I was hoping to truly love this establishment but the service was pretty harsh. It was't busy and the restaurant was pretty empty aside from us and two other tables being served The woman attending us seemed to be in a rush to get our order and would cut me off by turning around to walk away before I could finish verbally completing what I wanted to order. I ordered the mole poblano, the flavors in the sauce were there but the chicken was microwaved. It was overcooked and hard. Their tortillas are mediocre, I was hoping to really be pleased with the experience but unfortunately I was not. What a little gem! Came for a birthday breakfast with the family on a Friday and it was not very busy, seated right away. The service was great for our large party and the cafe de la olla was AMAZING!! no need for sugar cream or anything, perfect. All the tortillas were made by hand and the flour was my favorite. Everyone loved their dishes. We enjoyed Chilaquiles Con Huevo, Huevos Divorciados, Huevos Rancheros, Desayuno Macho (stuffed pepper, not spicy and not battered like how chile rellenos are). This is such a little hidden gem. I came with a friend just for a small bite and to try their cafe de olla and it was amazing. They serve it in those cute clay mugs, which are adorable. We ordered the queso fresco with tortillas (both flour and corn) and they are handmade so imagine how delicious they were. They bring chips and salsa, so I tried a piece of queso fresco with some salsa in the tortillas and omg it was so amazing. They kept refilling the coffee and I enjoyed every sip of it. The service was great. We weren't planning on ordering any big plate since we were mostly there for coffee but the queso fresco was a nice treat. The servers were attentive and just asked if we wanted to order anything else to just let her know and we didn't feel rushed. Definitely coming back and will take some tortillas to go. read more

Came here on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. Entered the establishment and they had a violinist playing famous Spanish songs to a backing track on a boom box attached to his hip. It sounded great and we recognized each song. Our waitress was very polite and kind as was every staff member we spoke with. We ordered cafe de olla which was very sweet and hot - delicious and served in traditional painted clay mugs. The main dish we shared was huevos divorciados which had red and green chilis on top of the eggs and served with an enchilada de queso and rice and beans. As an appetizer we got the queso fundido which was amazing topped with chorizo and nice and crispy at the bottom where the cheese meets the hot tray. Everything was delicious. But the highlight of the meal definitely was the queso fresco that they make in house, served with fresh handmade tortillas. We got corn and flour and the queso complimented each one perfectly. Adding a dash of salt and some of the green salsa they serve with the chips was a huge plus. read more

This has to be one of the worst restaurants I've been to. Absolutely terrible food, the food had no flavor or was either too salty. The wait was absolutely ridiculous I felt like I was waiting in a top tier restaurant just for the food to be absolutely terrible. If you go I only recommend the cafe de olla and that's about it. Definitely a hidden gem- been coming to this location for quite sometime and had several of their other dishes except for the menudo- yesterday my friend and I decided to share a bowl- (I eat like a kid) very little- the menudo was delicious! Clean, right sized bites, flavorful- a little on the thick side but not greasy like other places. This will definitely be my go to spot when I crave menudo again. I also had an aqua de pepino it was super delicious served fresh and over ice in a large mason jar! with chia seeds. I definitely recommend this spot or their second location on Nelson. Inside the restaurant can use a little updating however it is very clean. Staff was friendly yesterday professional and won't rush you to leave like other restaurants. read more

The food is good, been going for a few years, but today was very disappointing. The food quantity has decreased & today I paid $80 for 3 people; simple chilaquiles, chorizo with egg, a cocido & 3 cafes de olla. The server never showed me the receipt only the total. Menudo and Tamales is my go to for this place.. Family restaurant, great customer service, great food and great portions. This place has it's own parking lot that fits about 12 parking spaces and two handicap spaces. There is also parking on the street. Horchata is good here too if anyone is asking. I am a little disappointed I haven't been to this place in year's. I ordered a red chili burrito, I didn't like. It was very small for 14 dollars for me it was tasteless.
