Back in the age of dinosaurs, otherwise known as the 1980s, there used to be a smattering of El Locos around the San Gabriel Valley. And I have some genuine nostalgia for the place. When I was a little kid, my dad loved going to El Loco for the machaca burritos. I remember them being really good, although in fairness, my palate at the time was probably not exactly Michelin ready. So when I realized this El Loco was still around, I had to come check it out for old time's sake. I went with the chili relleno burrito, and I'm happy to report that it was delicious. And enormous. This thing was so big I could probably take a nap on it. It was cheesy, packed with flavor, and just plain old satisfying. There is one little caveat, though. I noticed the total seemed too high when I paid, and sure enough, I had been overcharged by about four bucks. I pointed it out, and the woman immediately apologized and said she'd made a mistake. I don't think there was anything nefarious going on, but it did leave me wondering how often a mistake like that goes unnoticed when someone isn't paying close attention. So, you know, maybe keep an eye on your receipt. Still, that's a relatively minor ding on what was otherwise a really good experience. The burrito was great, the nostalgia was strong, and I got to revisit a place that I remember from when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. And here's a fun little piece of movie trivia: Good Burger, starring Kenan Thompson, was filmed at this very location. So you can come here for a chili relleno burrito and get your Nickelodeon nostalgia on. That's a pretty solid afternoon. read more

Ordered to go i got two crunchy taco plate with rice and beans $15.99. Taco was still crunchy when i got home! Taco has a lot of shredded beef. They gave me a side of red and green salsa both were delicious. And a small bag of tortilla chips. Beans were good rice just ok. Will definitely go back and get this again. The prices aren't clear, they're super hard to see on the screen and even harder to capture in picture. - breakfast burrito with bacon: the ingredients were evenly distributed and I'm appreciative of that. But beans instead of potatoes makes me sad - carne asada fries: the fries work here! Even soggy they work! The protein was a bit lacking in quantity though. Drove by this place 1000 times. I had recently seen a review on TikTok and decided to give it a try. I'm always want to support local community business. Decided to order a taco for lunch and a burrito to take for dinner. Placed my order the staff was friendly. The place was clean however there were no prices on the outside menu in the patio. I paid $21? That seems a little steep for a Carnitas burrito and a shredded beef taco. The receipt that I got back only had the total charge didn't have a line item pricing. read more

Very nostalgic old school place with a cute small patio for eating here but I guess most get to-go. I got a couple huge stuffed hard shell tacos with shredded beef. Good but $6 each! The woman at the counter was very nice and cheerfully answered any questions I had. I will probably try something from here again. They have a big menu of Mexican and burgers but you can't really read the electronic screen or prices through the window, too reflective. The menu is on the patio but no prices. The bacon breakfast burritos and green salsa are very good but it seems the only put 2 pieces of bacon, but sometimes it doesn't even feel like that so that is the downfall, but they do give you a thing of chips so you can get full since you don't have bacon in your burrito lol but again it's a familiar flavor they have been here for years so I will continue to go and the staff is very nice. I guess I'll just have to pay for extra bacon but I think it's like three dollars or four dollars. I also like their fries good steak fries I think they are like $6 and the pic of the burrito in the reviews shows a nice cheesy burrito, but I've never had one that had that much cheese. The service and food here is amazing. The cashier (Fawnny or Fanny) probably butchering her name went above and beyond customer service, even offering me a complimentary water as she probably seen that i looked dehydrated as hell. Asada loco nachos are great whether you are sober or drunk. It could use a bit more asada, but the entire entree itself is very filling. Their green and red salsas are both good. The hard shell beef taco is good too. There's plenty of seating and plenty of food options. This place has been around for a long long time. I see other reviewers complaining about price or the $0.80 credit card charge. Look the world is changing... prices are going up everywhere. Get with the times or don't dine out. Simple math. Every time i come here i notice a trend of loyal customers who keep coming back and treating this as a local hidden gem. I will continue to eat here for many years to come. I've lived near this place my entire life and I've never visited. Well, I finally know why: it sucks. I was getting my tires rotated next door and decided on finally trying Peter's El Loco. I walked up and scanned the outdoor menu (which doesn't have prices) and decided on the El Loco specialty burrito ($17 - which I found was way too expensive for what you get). I ordered the entree and paid with card (they charge a card fee) and the burrito was ready in less than 10 minutes. Well, I wish they took a little longer because it was a mess. When I grabbed the burrito from the cardboard tray, I had to stabilize it because the burrito was gonna fall over. The burrito was essentially a sloppy soupy mess wrapped in a tortilla. Incredibly messy to eat. And frankly, it wasn't good. It tasted like a microwave burrito. I would never come back here. read more

I grew up in the area and I've lived nearby for the last 5 years but somehow I have never made it over to try Peter's El Loco until last night. I ordered their cheeseburger combo, my husband ordered their Loco cheeseburger combo (basically a larger cheeseburger on a torta type roll instead of a regular bun), and we got a couple hard shell tacos. The burger was good, maybe not the best I've had in the area but good. I definitely want to give them another try again, possibly eat there because I think the travel time may have impacted the quality. I loved their french fries and they have really good ranch. I left West Covina, CA in 1996, for the U.S. Army. It's now been nearly 29yrs!! I have to say, "today I was 1 day old and I just experienced my first plate of Asada Fries!!" It was delicious and only a walking distance from my child hood home. My mother has purchased the Tamales in the past but these Asada Fries called "LOCO FRIES" were delicious! I live to go to Peter's El Loco in West Covina. It's close to my house and the food is delicious. I went on Friday to have breakfast. I ordered a Machaca Burrito and it was good. It was big and had lots of meat beans and cheese. The service is always great and I enjoy eating it at one of the tables. It only has outdoor eating but it's nice. It's always clean and they keep it clean all day. They prefer cash but accept cards for a small fee. They have a large variety of food including hamburgers which was featured in the movie Good Burger. The tacos are amazing with lots of meat and cheese too. The salsa is good red and green. read more
