    a child eating chips

Stopped on our way home from Dallas and was very surprised! Awesome food! Chips and salsa were fresh and the food was great! It's hard for me to find these in a Mexican Resturant where I like them all. The margaritas were amazing!! Service was perfect! We will definitely be stopping again on our next trip through.

Most the chips were broke tiny pieces & some pretty greasy

Food was not great! Service was okay! Very quiet and empty at lunch time. Ordered the fajitas and enchiladas.

Yummy Mexican food. It has a loyal local following and I know why. I've never had a bad meal there. Gracias La Pradera!

And whenever we take a drive like that, we make it our mission to find a highly rated local lunch spot. This one was on the way home and looked promising, so in we went. I will say this for Texas. Onion rings are everywhere here, far more than when I lived in California. I will happily take that as a win, because the heat for about nine months of the year is not my jam. Sadly, the onion rings were not listed as one of the many sides (so we couldn't get them as a side with our meal), but we ordered them as an appetizer ($8.99 I think) with blue cheese dressing. I am not a ranch girlie, and I stand by that choice. The blue cheese had huge chunks in it, which makes me think it might be house made (bonus point!). Now, the rings. I am firmly Team "Battered" Onion Ring over Team "Breaded", and these absolutely delivered on the team battered. They were almost chicken-fried, -- super craggly, crispy, and deeply satisfying. These were the star of the meal, so do yourself a favor and order them - but you need a friend to share them with, its a heavy portion. They also have great lunch specials, most around eleven dollars. I got the pot roast with two sides, refried beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. After indulging in the onion rings, I was not exactly starving, so I ended up with enough leftovers for another full meal. The pot roast was nicely shredded and tender, and the gravy was rich, flavorful, and worth every calorie. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, (he's obviously on a diet!), with fried okra and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was forgettable, but everything else on his plate was solid. Service was friendly and efficient, and this place definitely fills up at lunch, so plan accordingly. A very good roadside stop, and proof that sometimes the best meals happen when you are just out running errands.

Came for breakfast for the first time today and life CHANGED…read more If you've ever been confused by the question of what you'd pick as your last meal, look no further than the sourdough breakfast panini. The amount of flavor in that sandwich from the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, to the shredded Gouda, grilled sourdough bread, tomatoes slices, and arugula will blow. Your. Mind. And once it's blown, you'll then get to pop one of the maple waffle fries that come with it in your mouth (and completely remind me of funnel cake!) and you will feel like life is complete, you have no regrets, and if it all ended today you would be able to die a happy human. Finding flavor like this (which I've only found in a few local spots like Zanatas or Fable and Fire in Rockwall) is an absolute diamond in the rough find for Fate! And after meeting the chef, Michael Shelley (who worked previously at a five star restaurant in Cali and has quite the illustrious history - go look him up!), you'll understand why flavors that you'd only expect to find down in Dallas are blowing your mind sitting at Red Dirt Social in Fate. (He also shared with us that the panini is a special recipe he created while working as a a private chef for a family and they would order it just about every other day. Trust me, I now know completely why.) My partner got the breakfast tacos and they were a totally different and just as delicious flavor palette. Packed with eggs, potatoes, bacon, veggies, and pepper jack cheese. The portions are HUGE. Where else can you find this much flavor in this much food?! I love the great seating options and the lowkey setup of picking your own table, ordering at the front when you're ready, and having it brought out to your table. Only complaint was on my partner's double chai latte where the beans were painfully over roasted and the smoky flavor overpowered the chai entirely, but some extra barista lessons needed aside, we're IN. This will for sure be our new breakfast spot (let's get honest, there aren't that many truly unique and good ones out this way if you want more than your typical diner style eggs, bacon, and pancakes) and we'll be bringing friends from out of town here as well! What a gem!

We sat down at our table at Red Dirt Social to visit for 10 minutes - and the manager (or owner maybe?) commented how his space was built just for this reason - to relax and enjoy time. We never felt rushed, or felt like they wanted our table. That was refreshing! The space is lovely - truly! It was bright, open, minimal decor and it all worked beautifully together. Someone out real thought into decorating this space for people to gather and relax, and it showed. I ordered the pats (oatmeal) with fresh fruit and it was perfect! All the fruit blended well together for my oatmeal. I enjoyed every bite. I cannot wait to bring my husband back to see how much Fate has grown and to eat here once more. It's worth it!
