Yes, yes, yes!!! Come through La Prena! This was one of my favorite restaurants. The staff was nice and the food came quickly. My favorite is the spicy crab. I wanted to go back but hubby wanted to try something different since it was so many choices. I would definitely recommend. Im thinking about them little sandwiches right now. Love it
Never had an arepa in my life and now I crave them constantly. I found this spot down the street from where I was staying. My partner and I ordered the dominicana, tripleta, and the spicy crab. The best was the dominicana, the blend of the maduro with the queso frito and salami was a great mix. Staff was nice and attentive and gave great recommendations. Plenty of seating with shade too.
Loved this spot last time I was in PR and didn't disappoint on my next visit. The filling for the arepa was very flavorful and juicy, I could've eaten six by myself...but I shared with my kids. Speaking of kids, they have some sweet options for desert as well! My two got glazed arepas and a Nutella arepa. Reminded me of an elephant ear at the fair and delicious. Love the designs in the walls as well. Such a great atmosphere. The restaurant looks to be a repurposed warehouse container. It's really nice and also an outdoor but feels like indoor set up.
La Preña is the perfect place for a protein packed snack before a night of drinking. It's also the first stop my partner and I made after landing in Puerto Rico. The ambiance is casual and seating is outdoors. The place wasn't crowded and we were quickly seated despite it being a Friday night (probably because it was hot outside). Service was quick and friendly and we got our food quickly. My partner and I ordered the spicy crab, octopus, and triple meat arepas. The spicy crab and octopus are chilled and both had a lot of protein. The spicy crab was mild in terms of spice and had the signature sweetness of a good crab making it deliciously refreshing. The octopus is tender and covered in a tart and tasty aioli. The seafood arepas were nicely paired with a well seasoned, juicy, and piping hot trio of pernil, chicken, and beef in the triple meat arepa. Every arepa that came out had a lot of protein and the perfect ratio of bread to filling. For the price, taste, protein portions, and service, La Preña is hard to beat. Just make sure to come when it's not roasting outside since seating is outdoors.
Order every arepa your belly can fit. Your won't be disappointed. Make sure you try the pernil and the spicy crab, those are a must! Lol everything we ordered was so good. Ask them for the homemade hot sauce. It's sooooo flavorful. That was probably one of my favorite sauces I've tried tbh. The service is great too. The people here were very attentive and very kind. I love the outdoor vibe they have going on here too!
We went on an excursion today and our tour guide suggested this place. I'm not a big fan of arepas but O M G! This is the place to visit!! The arepas are like NO OTHER I have ever had!! Each one was stuffed!! We tried the ceviche Pulled chicken Tres golpes or triplet Dominican Spicy crab Pulled pork Shrimp Each one wAs just outstandingly delicious!! Tried their 32 oz mojito-just meh-nothing to rave about. Too much ice and just limy not much alcohol at all nor sweet.

I ordered a late night meal and this arrived in no time. I was shocked at first by the size. 3 of these looked like an appetizer. But after having two (the tripleta and queso y guayaba) I was full. I would recommend the tripleta and maybe add a spicy sauce if possible. The queso y guayaba did not deliver on the cheesy guava taste I wanted. read more

Im on board the La Prẽna train. Delicious go to for arepas. Very casual ambiance with great service. Will always hit this place up for a quick bite when im in PR. If you order fries better ask for ketchup or mayo ketchup for dipping read more

yummy overstuffed coconut-flour arepas.. we tried the camarón, ceviche, and ropa vieja and all were delicious. we ordered to go and ate them on a nearby beach. a little soggy after 10m of walking but that was to be expected. sauce was good, too. read more

Stop here if you want the most delicious arepas in Puerto Rico! My wife and I took our kids here while we were on vacation and even those picky eaters loved it! This is a nice local spot with great service and amazing food. Every time we come to PR, we stop in! read more

Besides the food, I really dig the vibe of this place! There's indooor/outdoor seating (really, both sections are open-air), with the front being a little more casual. I went for lunch, and the service is really fast. I ordered one spicy crab Arepa, and one shrimp one they were both excellent but I decided to make my third order another shrimp one because the spicy crab was a little messier, and everything everyone has said about the shrimp Arepa has been right - the flavor is just amazing. I don't think I've ever had Venezuelan Arepas, just Colombian, but I absolutely loved these. They were so fluffy and served warm. I can't say enough good things about the food here, or at least the arepas. I probably should have tried a different one for my third, but the shrimp one was so darn good I couldn't help myself Definitely check out this hidden gem on Calle Loiza the next time you are in San Juan. read more
This place looks like a little hole in the wall. It's open and you sit outside, but it's a neat atmosphere. The food was good and more filling than it looks. We tried arepas and fish tacos, along with tostones. It was all good. read more

I'm on the fence about La Prena. The ingredients were pretty good with lots of flavor, but the actual arepa did not taste fresh. It tasted a little bit stale and chewy like it had been made a while ago. Everyone in my group was in agreement that the food was a bit underwhelming compared to other options in San Juan. We probably would not return to La Prena. read more

The lines out of the door can be intimidating but once you bite into your Arepa you know why it's there. We called our order in ahead of time because we heard this can get busy fast. The young lady who took our order over the phone was patient and helpful. She made great suggestions for us and for this being my first Arepa ever. I 1000% will fly back to Puerto Rico just for this sandwich. The flavor is 10/10. Don't miss out if you are in the area. read more
Stunning! Incredibly flavorful. The ceviche here is incredibly zesty and satisfying. Know that the portions are inherently small and the service is slightly strained, but that it is SO worth coming here and giving a couple items a try. It's a cute spot to come grab a casual bite with friends. read more

Was gonna come in here and try the food but we end up just getting drinks. The piña colada was delicious. Waitstaff was incredible and very intensive and I love that they had local music in the background so it was an amazing vibe. The food looks incredible but unfortunately we did not get to try it but it is a great price for everything. read more
Fantastic little shop right off the road within walking distance of the Condado area hotels. Came here on a recommendation from a family member and so glad I did. The seating is a semi-covered patio that lets you enjoy the weather without having to be in the sun. The employees were very helpful when a few members of my party had questions about toppings on the arepas. We got the camarones and pollo arepas, chips de malanga, and mojito colada. It took about 5-10 mins to get the food after ordering but the arepas were very fresh - be careful eating them as they can be a little hot! The shrimp and chicken were both delicious. Absolutely loved the mojito colada - it is a perfect cool and minty drink to enjoy in the heat. Highly highly recommend if you find yourself in San Juan. Will definitely be returning to try more of the arepas. read more

A great fun place. I love the space and the art in the restaurant. Service was good- very helpful with what we should order for our first time. We ordered a bunch of arepas and shared to try the different meats/flavors. Bread was great. The options were delish! read more

Staff is friendly , environment is relaxing and they have great music. Food is average but for the price it's good - I tried the Ropa Vieja and it was tasty. For someone with a large appetite I recommend getting two sandwiches. Happy Hour specials every day except Tues and Wed read more

After a long travel day this was exactly what we were hoping to find. Unpretentious and delicious! We ordered the arepas in ceviche, chicken, and spicy crab. Our dinner & drinks were served in their little outdoor courtyard surrounded by twinkle lights in the trees & bright murals on the walls. The waitress was so friendly and the price was low. I've been here a couple times and I usually always get the arepas. My top 3 favorite arepas are mariscos, pulpo and shrimp. The shrimp is my all time favorite because of the flavor, and it comes fresh everytime! So be careful when you get shrimp, because it's usually super hot and delicious when you get it. The mariscos and pulpo are fresh and tastes amazing in the arepa! Honestly, Worth a try at this place! I would suggest having arepas as a snack, or an appetizer before going out to get a meal. Because as a meal, you'd have to order a lot to get full, in my opinion. The arepas are a little small, as big as an empanada, but way more delicious ! read more

Food is relatively inexpensive yet of good quality and taste compared to other restaurants in the area. Locals seem to patronize this establishment. I saw frequent pickups for DoorDash and Uber Eats (GrubHub is unavailable in PR). The servers are friendly and courteous. read more
