First I had issues with scheduling : I bought a Groupon for tattoo removal and immediately had issues trying to book an appointment. I called and was told everything had to be scheduled online, so I submitted a booking request. The first time, I was told to choose another time slot. After that, I submitted two more requests over the course of two weeks and received absolutely no response or confirmation. At this point, I already paid for the service, so I kept trying. Then they said the machine was broken and needed repair so I had to wait even longer. As for the actual tattoo removal experience, I would not recommend going here. I'm only sharing my experience so others can make a more informed decision. I had two sessions done and was given very little aftercare information other than to avoid sun and soap. I later found out icing the area is also important, but that was never mentioned to me. I had very bad blistering! I never went back for my third session even though it was already paid for. After my treatments, I developed severe scarring. I now have a permanent scar in the exact shape of the tattoo lettering, which means the tattoo can never be fully removed. Because of the damage, I stopped treatments and spent over a year trying to heal the area. After 2 years the scar is still very noticeable. I will say all the staff here were very friendly and professional. Just don't come here for tattoo removal. read more

I purchased a groupon for eyelash extensions. The groupon stated that it was valid with stylist Katyln, which I admittedly missed and booked online with Linda. However, when you book the appointment it has to be approved by the salon. I stated in the appointment notes I would be using a groupon and included the number in the reservation details. The salon approved my appointment. If they couldn't honor the voucher, they should have denied the appointment. I also got multiple reminders about the appointment and told me about the issue after I arrived. Linda was rude! She said she couldn't honor it and after some back-and-forth, she agreed to do the service. Linda was distracted during the application and making phone calls and texting during the process. I feel this is unprofessional. At checkout I redeemed my voucher in front of Linda. I swiped and it said "redeemed" on the bottom left. However, Linda didn't trust it and said it is usually stamped "redeemed." She told me to take a snap-shot of the voucher and text it to her phone. I didn't want her personal number on my phone. I asked her why can't she just take a photo of it with her own device. She said her daughter had her phone and then she literally snatched my phone out of my hand, took the screenshot herself and texted it to her number. This is downright rude! This place is such a SCAM! GO ELSEWHERE!!! I received a Groupon for tattoo removal. It was for 3 sessions on 1 SQUARE INCH area. For reference: The formula to calculate square inches is length times width. The tattoo is 1.25" x 0.5"= 0.625 square inch. I called to schedule an appointment and the owner asked me to text photos of my tattoo showing the measurements. She told me that it was over 1 square inch. I explained that the tattoo was not over one square inch based on the tattoo measurements and square inch formula. She told me that's not how they calculate. I asked how they calculate square inches and never received a response. A few days later I sent a follow up text and was ignored. At that point I should have cut my losses, but since the gifted Groupon was expiring I thought I'd call. I called and spoke with someone and told her about my tattoo and was able to book an appointment. After that I thought everything was all set. On the day of the appointment I drove a little over an hour just for the owner to measure my tattoo and tell me that my tattoo was over one square inch by .25''. I told her it was in fact under one square inch and showed her the formula. She said that is not how they calculate, it is 1" x 1". One square inch and 1" by 1" are NOT the same. She would NOT honor my Groupon and told me it would be an additional $75. Since I was not willing to pay extra for HER LISTING MISTAKE she said she would only do 1 session. I agreed because I didn't want to long drive to be a waste. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND GO TO A BETTER BUSINESS!!! If I could give zero stars, I would!! read more

Long story short: bedside manner could use a lot of improvement, and work is only okay. Although Linda has a nice eye for eyebrows, my experience there is of being verbally abused. When I mentioned that I had previously had my eyebrows done because of chemotherapy causing my eyebrows to fall out, she first said, "awww," and then tried to sell me on life insurance. This was ridiculously inappropriate for a session that was about eyebrows and asking what I wanted. She asked about following the original hairline, which I asked her to do, and then... She didn't follow the hairline. She plucked out the tail end of my eyebrows instead in order to draw a line. The end result isn't bad (see before/after photo), but it's going to be a pain to maintain, and I'm going to have to go to someone else to fix it. When I flinched because of the pain of the eyebrow process, she called me a "big baby." Now, this might have been meant as a joke, but it is completely unprofessional in that it ignores power differentials-- when you are holding a tattoo gun, someone is completely at your mercy. Calling your customer names, even as a joke, is bullying behavior. Small pluses-- she did check her work and catch that one eyebrow was a little too short. The place was clean. But... I was belittled, bullied, the result was not what I asked for, and also she answered the phone three times during the session. Run away, folks; you deserve better. read more

I decided to try the "fly" technique which is like nano blading where each hair is carefully and accurately drawn in. This is a very time consuming process that Linda does like an expert. She shows you along the way, so there are no surprises! I highly recommend Linda Phong, as she is a master in her craft. It is worth the time and money. Never coming here again. This place used to be very neat, clean and quiet. I scheduled an eyebrow wax, (I'm sure this service is small to them since they do a lot more with eyebrows) I called to speak with someone last night, 01/10/24 but there was no answer. On the voicemail it says you can schedule an appointment online, great! Scheduled my appointment with Linda and the confirmation of your request says you must wait for a confirmation from the owner of your appointment. Done got both confirmations, scheduled it for today at 5:30 PM. I walk in a little after 5:20 PM, there are employees assisting some clients. I ring the bell since no one seems to care that I walked in. Even after I ring the "someone's here" bell, one of the employees I think, looks at me and then continues on with her client. I say I think because she was helping a client but didn't care to help me. I don't know if this place rents out booths/stalls for independent beauticians but that's the vibe I got. It's about to be my appointment time and the beautician that noticed me walks out with her client, okay, no problem. I walk to the back which is the nail salon and ask if Linda is here. The woman tells me Linda left... I know an eyebrow wax is probably not racking in a lot of income but if you are going to confirm an appointment, you should probably be there or call and say you have to reschedule. It's my second time going to La Princesse for Permanent Eye liner. Both times I picked Linda to do it. She takes her job seriously and does it efficiently and with pride. I was recommended to go by a friend who did it with Linda and I liked how it looked. I had never gotten a tattoo and the thought of messing up my eyes with a tattoo was pretty scary. It was great to see her work on someone I trusted. The appointment is supposed to be 2 hours. She had me draw on what I wanted it to look like before and I showed her some photos to give her an idea of what I wanted. You get a cream to numb your eyes, then wait 20 minutes. Linda sets a timer and I was expecting to wait past, but she came right in exactly as the timer went off and started right away. It doesn't hurt. But she was so focused and steady. I didn't talk because i was worried about moving. She had me check a few times and took care to get both sides to look the same. After she told me how to care for it. I got a Groupon the first time, so you can check there and see if they can match which I think is better than buying direct from Groupon. Lots of people are always there getting mircroblading brows. I've been here three times now and every single time they are running late. The quality of the work was good with the lady I saw (though my sister had some not so great experiences). They charge you extra if you pay with credit card ... is that even legal? The 2nd time I was here, they ran late for my appointment ... no one was manning the front desk so I just stood around for 15 minutes. I totally understand when appointments run over, but you should at least have someone working the front desk? And stop texting me reminders if you're the one who can't be on time? I came here to get my lashes done on Saturday 5/4. I will never go back again. First of all, I was ridiculed for using the Groupon. But isn't the exact reason for having a Groupon is to gain next customers? Well I was told I shouldn't have used it, and I should have gone directly to the company first. Oh ok...next time I'll know. NOT! I purchased the classic mink lashes and paid an extra $20 for volume and let me tell you, there's nothing volume about these lashes. I have my appointment today at 10am. I came in early, to fill out paperwork. The numbing cream was placed at 945am, and was told it had to stay on for 30min. Procedure started at 1030.. a little late bc she double booked, but all is well she was fast. Tattoo Artist: Linda did my tattoo, and she did great! She said she's been doing makeup since 1985! When she did my brows, she did it in these steps... 1. Numbing 2. You pick a design shape 3. She draws it in 4. Tattoo starts. 5. More numbing cream 6. Final touches 7. Follow up for touch up in 2months It feels like a getting a bunch of paper cuts when the numbing goes away, but not too too bad. She'll give you suggestions and let you know what looks good.. Tip: Breathe constantly during the procedure If you're buying from Groupon, do her a favor, just like All businesses in Groupon.. ask her if she would match the price that way she doesn't lose money. read more

I always buy groupons for other people for pedicures but found a great deal on groupon for a mani-pedi here and decided to use it for myself for New Year's Eve! I always try to give a place a chance and I was looking forward to getting a mani-pedi. I've had a problem with in-grown toe nails in the past so I wanted to make sure they were able to help me alleviate a problem with my left big toe. I parked on the street, came into the shop, but wasn't welcomed right away and someone told me to have a seat. Hanna was to be the nail technician for the groupon. She was a bit reserved but opened up later at the end. The soaking and washing of my feet went fine but when it came to cutting my toe nails, it was rather painful on at least two of my left toes! Now two days later, my second toe is a bit tender and swollen so I am taking Aleve, applying Neosporin and/or hydrogen peroxide to ease the tenderness and swelling. Also, I soaked my toes in hot water with epson salt. Hopefully, the swelling will go down as tonight as my New Year's Eve dinner dance. read more

My review is based on laser hair removal treatment. I was interested in trying laser hair removal because shaving can be such a chore. This place is super close to where I am, so I decided to give it a shot. TBH, I didn't expect much from a small little salon in Alameda, but the groupon price was just too good to resist. This is a no-frills salon that offers a several different services at a very reasonable price, with or without the groupon. Skylar is the on-site registered nurse who assists clients with the medical procedures. The treatment took place in a back room that is very small, but very clean and comfortable (which is always a plus). Skylar is super nice and professional. She is always happy to help you and is very patient. She's also very efficient, and my appointments never exceed 30 minutes (which is important for me). Now, the burning question of does this treatment actually work? For reference, I chose to test out my underarm area (medium-sized). I'm happy to report that I started seeing results after two treatments! I'm so excited I don't have to shave this area anymore. This saves me SO much hassle and time. I was so impressed and happy that I added another treatment area at the regular rate (which is very reasonable once you factor in the razors and creams you won't have to buy anymore) Scheduling can be confusing at times, but it's not a deal breaker. Right off the bat, there's hair and other debris all over the floor in the waiting area (see photos), which is no where near a station. It's pretty clear no one is bothering to keep things clean which is concerning. The receptionist is super friendly but wet-coughing up a lung. She says she's been doing so for weeks. I understand, but maybe some discretion and hand sanitizer is in order? Maybe I'm just nitpicking there. I arrived 5 minutes early, but Katlyn didn't come out until 20+ minutes after my appointment. Discussing what style I wanted was challenging because they had no visuals or references at all. As this is a 2+ hour procedure my appointment ran late into the next. Katlyn told me she would do a better job next time but had to stop now because we were out of time? Wtf? How am I the one losing out -- I was on time! Once I saw my lashes I felt better about it because they look amazing! I left a little annoyed but overall pleased and brought the star review back up. Alas, by the time I went to bed I looked in the mirror and found SIX lashes fell out and stuck to my face. Less than 8 hours later and my lash extensions were falling out? Excuse me? Goodbye stars. I had been here before for my micro blading by Linda, so I decided to get my hair cut by Jessica, after reading reviews and because she has a Groupon deal for haircut, style and deep conditioning $34 ($70 value, but she told me when it was time to pay the normal fee was $35, wth?!). Although, Jessica was nice and made conversation, I was not too happy with the service. I believe she used conditioner, after the wash, but I don't think it was considered deep conditioning, the haircut was just a trim and the style was just a blow dry, even though I showed her pics of how I usually do my hair and how I'd like my hair. After the blow dry, she did cut a little more and asked if it was cut enough, but I was already leery, so didn't want to chance her cutting off too much, in case I decided to go elsewhere, after I styled it myself... Permanent Eyebrow Makeup/Tattoo: I LOVE MY EYEBROWS!!! First of all, I was so nervous and worried about how my eyebrows would look. I had been wanting to get my eyebrows tattooed for years but was too scared to get them done. So I did some yelp research and read all the reviews on Groupon and decided to go ahead and purchase. I got an amazing deal on tattooed eyebrows retail $300+ and paid only $119. So the process was fairly easy and painless. My appointment was at 8:30 am, Linda was very nice and sweet. She had me sign a waiver and then put the numbing gel on my face right away. I sat with the numbing gel on my forehead for about 1 hour before she came back. As I sat down, I was seated next to another lady who was getting a touch up of her eyebrows. They looked really good, so I got less nervous. Before, she did my eyebrows, Linda took a picture of my eyebrows before she tattooed. I had gotten my eyebrows done the night before and tried to draw in the shape that I would like as much as possible. Linda came and took me to the back she filled in my eyebrows in some more and then asked me if I liked them. We then discussed what color and she stated she never uses black. Linda used a chocolate brown ink on my eyebrows. The process: The eyebrow tattoo part was not that painful but it did hurt a little bit, as she was outlining my eyebrows. We then took a break for 15 mins while she put more numbing gel on her my eyebrows. She then went back to my eyebrows and deposited the color onto my eyebrows. It took about 20 mins to finish both eyebrows and I did not feel anything this time around. She finished and gave me some after care, I saw my eyebrows and I LOVED IT! They look so beautiful and natural, you can't even really tell that they are tattooed. I have another appointment in 2 months to get them touched up. Linda is a liar and I can't believe a business women would behave like this. I went into the salon in January and talked to Linda. We booked an appt on 2/11 for tattoo eyebrows. I asked if my appt was with her and she said yes and that only she does eyebrows there. Then, on 2/9, Linda text messages me: "Hi this is Linda from La princesse, I saw you book with Katlyn for microblading, just let you know only Linda give the service microblading, see will see you Monday that ok? Please let me know Thanks" I replied, reminding her that she booked my appt and that my appt was with her for tattoo eyebrows, not microblading and that we specifically discussed why microblading wouldn't be good for my skin type when booking the appt. And I work on Monday. To which she replied, "So sorry, I'm out of town will come back Sunday, would you like to some Sunday evening? Or any day after Monday?" So basically, instead of just explaining she was going to be out of town and needed to reschedule, she lied, saying I booked with someone else that doesn't do microblading. First of all, she told me she was the only person that does eyebrows there, so why would I book with another person? Second, I confirmed with her that my appt was with her. Third, I booked for tattoo eyebrow, not microblading. So shady! I cancelled. I have a massage Sunday evening in SF, I can't do weekdays and I would need to schedule a month later for a Saturday; I was hoping to get this done in February. In addition, I also had a manicure done here years ago just before a business trip. I brought my own bottle of OPI nail polish. They dropped my bottle of nail polish and it cracked. They apologized and I said it's fine but asked them to refund me $12.50 as I just purchase that bottle the day before and they said no. And my nails looked awful! I wish I had taken a picture. I had to redo them myself that evening. I gave this place a 2nd chance because I really wanted to like them, especially since they're in my neighborhood but after 2 awful experiences, I will not be returning again.
