Stayed here two nights to visit Spokane with a friend. Stay was July 2-4, one king sized bed with a couch. I had one dog with me. I arrived very late (maybe 11pm-ish) from driving immediately after work. I was tired and check in was quick. The guy who checked me in (the name escapes me) was extremely nice and upbeat. He offered me a cookie but I am trying to limit my sugar. Lobby was gorgeous, warm and inviting. Exercise room was amazing...lots of new equipment with add ons including weight balls and floor pads. Those little things go a long way. Pool room was nice but a little small. We used the hot tub one time and tried to play a card game while in there but the room was so small...the kids who were playing in the pool had their yells echoing so it was futile to play the game. No big deal. Room I had was very large, corner of the hotel, on the first floor near an exit (bonus!) and quiet. The first night was bliss...slept well. Second night, not nearly as well since the people above me kept stomping around till 3 am!!! I thought maybe there were kids but now that I think back, it may have been dogs running back and forth. Lesson learned: do not request room on first floor anymore. Room had all brand new furnishings and appliances. All new smells mixed together created a rather odd smell in the room...think new carpet, new paint, new furnishings, new fridge, new sheets, etc all mixed together. Just a little too overwhelming for my taste. I got over it though. Bed was overwhelmingly comfortable. Couch was one of those microfiber ones. I grabbed some wrapped muffins on the way out but did not try the rest of the options (I bring my own food). Fridge was waist height and nice. Normal microwave. I don't drink coffee but I think there was a Keurig knock off in the room. Plenty of outlets near the bed for phones and lap tops. One odd thing for a one bed room...two TV's. One in front of the couch and the other in front of the bed. There was no wall separation of the couch area to the bed so if you had two different channels on at once, I would assume it would be annoying. Maybe people don't want to watch the TV by the bed if they eat at the couch? An unnecessary luxury for myself...but first world problems. All in all, I would definitely stay again. If I end up in the area, I will choose this LQ first. It was cheaper than the others in the area but I think those prices will soon inflate once people see how nice it is... Also, they give treats and pick-up bags to the dog owners at check in. A nice touch most other LQ's do not provide. My dog is in kidney failure, so she only ate one of the treats, but we appreciated the gesture. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g58759-d111017-r289624135-La_Quinta_Inn_Suites_Spokane_North-Spokane_Washington.html#

AWESOME! We stayed here for five nights to prepare our daughter's move-in to Whitworth University (they have a discounted rate for Whitworth families). The location is absolutely perfect, just a couple minutes away from campus. Dorm/clothes shopping can be done within a 10-15 minute radius, and there are lots of places to eat. We were impressed by the modern decor and cozy feeling of the lobby and rooms. Beautiful framed photographs of Riverfront Park and Riverside National Park created a gallery in the hallway. Our room on the first floor was spacious, comfortable, and rather quiet on the opposite end from the pool. The necessities are provided: free WiFi, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator (no freezer!), tv, washing machine & dryer access, and computer/printer access. The bed lamp had built-in USB ports and the alarm clock had various cables attached. It was nice to plug the audio cable into my phone to play our own music. Also, they have a little store in the lobby that stocks snacks and a small variety of items. Customer service is excellent. Their friendly staff made us feel right at home. Armando at the front desk was helpful and accommodating, a really great guy. He really took care of us after our long flight from Hawaii and got us comfortably settled in our room. The nice lady who set up the breakfast items every morning kept everything filled. We were so thankful for the full breakfast they provided - it saved us a lot of time and money so that we could focus on our mission. Very highly recommend. We will be staying here whenever we go to Whitworth.

Unfortunately, their experience was genuinely awful. They dropped off their luggage and went out with friends. When they returned later that night and pulled back the sheets to get into bed, they found pubic hair on the bedding. They immediately called the front desk to report it. They were told someone would come up with fresh sheets. When staff finally arrived, all they brought was a single top sheet -- wet and smelling strongly of bleach. The employee left before my parents could say anything else, and no additional bedding was provided. They had no choice but to put the damp, bleach‑smelling sheet on the bed and try to sleep. My mom ended up with a rash that lasted four days from that sheet. They have tried calling multiple times since to speak with someone about the situation, but no one has returned their calls.

Our room was on the 11th floor overlooking downtown. The room was spacious and had all the basic amenities. I really liked the bench deck right by the window over the AC unit. The room also had a decent-sized workstation and a spacious closet. The hotel featured a very well-equipped gym, plus a vending machine on the same floor stocked with water, other beverages, and first-aid or wellness essentials (deodorant, shaving foam, etc.). The hotel also had an in-house spa as well. The in-house cafe called Espresso offered some really good coffee. The in-house dining was also quite good. We opted for room service twice, and it was a great experience both times!

Located on the south side of the river and what appears to be the heart of downtown, it was relatively easy to get to, and literally across the street from where we were seeing a show. The place is really large with something like 14 or 15 levels, and a room that we very much enjoyed! The beds were large, the mattresses were really nice and the view was lovely! The shower was also quite solid. It was one that did not have a door, but was fashioned such that you didn't get water all over the bathroom floor. It also had one of the best showerheads we've ever experienced! It was like getting sprayed off with a warm hose. It was a bummer that they didn't have a pool and hot tub here, but the workout facilities were really nice, and if you are looking for a pool, staying here, you get access to the pool and hot tub at the sister hotel downtown. We didn't make use of it, but it's a nice offer. We were about five minutes from downtown, and walked to a couple of restaurants for both dinner and breakfast. Parking was easy with an option for self parking or valet. The parking garage was connected to the building, and overall made things very easy. I really went back-and-forth between a four and five on this property, but overall it was a really nice spot with nice amenities and the pool was really the only thing that was lacking. It gets the five star bump!

Bummer about the crowdedness and the busyness. Very cool about the gorgeous hotel, the premium lobby with the most delicious lemonade water we have ever had, and free cookies, the comfy room with a sliding door onto the grass so we could easily walk the dog. We heard rumors about this being one of Spokane's most haunted hotels and I can see how one might get a vibe that there's presence in the hotel. It was built in 1899, was abandoned for decades, and renovated. They did a beautiful job keeping up the historic aspects of the furnishings, and even the music in the halls was a little spooky. But rest assured, there were no spirits haunting our unit! Our room was adjacent to the Events Center and the building is structured such that we didn't hear the noise from the event going on at the time unless we put our ear to their door down the hall. It is easy to get lost because our room was in the 300's numbers but on the second floor, while other rooms in the 300's are on the third floor. There are two sets of elevators that take you to different parts of the connected buildings. If you're looking for the fitness center in the basement, don't use the elevator from the lobby or that will put you into the restaurant below. The amenities were great. It was like an entire apartment with a full kitchen and all the kitchenware to make it feel like home, plus it had a walk-in pantry. There was a big screen TV in every room and it was easy to hook up our own Firestick. I wished it had a second bathroom, and more hangers, as it does accommodate 4 people. The shower could use a shelf -- you have to put your bath toiletries on the floor of the shower. Bath robes and decor throughout made it cozy. The water vapor electric fireplace was a nice touch in the living room and we had a north facing view of the city surroundings. There was a dedicated room for washer and dryer, and they provide the detergents. The parking lot is small (about 15 spaces), and there's an overflow lot further away. There are several entry/exit doors on both First Av and Monroe St so that's a little confusing, but load in at the front entrance. The ambiance of the hotel is impressive, particularly if you have an interest in architecture from the early 20th century. If you have a car that is valued to you, you'll want to spend the extra $30 per night for valet parking in a parking garage that is close to the hotel. Most everything downtown is well within walking distance, however, so that can be easier than getting the valet to retrieve your car more than once per day. As for the noise, the hotel is right next door to train tracks, and despite being on the third floor, we could hear most car and people traffic originating in the streets around the hotel. That was mostly eliminated as an issue with the use of good earplugs and/or background noise generating app on the iPhone. We were surprised to find that, despite the descriptions we had seen for the hotel, there was a small refrigerator included in the room. With relatively few meal alternatives in the area, it would have been nice to have a continental breakfast option available. But if you are willing to have a more traditional breakfast, the hotel's restaurant is easily accessible on the first floor.
