I brought my wife to Spokane on a business trip here and we decided to make a romantic weekend out…read moreof it complete with the Bed and Breakfast. This was a wonderful choice. This beautifully restored Victorian Mansion was our best B&B experience yet. The room are tastefully decorated in Victorian antiques. Everything from the claw-footed tub in the bathroom to the ornate chandelier in the dining room made us feel like we had stepped back in time. We would love to come back for one of their Victorian high teas. Every course of the full service breakfast was delicious, especially the dutch babies. The staff was great. Heather, the daughter of the owner, is an excellent cook. She made us feel comfortable and welcome. Looking forward to staying here again.

We scheduled an event here, paying with 3 separate checks. We were told the deposit was refundable…read more Then, after paying were were told there was a tax on the deposit. We had asked about it several times before, and the amount were were told hadn't changed, nor had it included tax. Their website didn't (and still doesn't) include the tax. When we called the event off, one of the parties received $800 (50% of the total, but $200 more than their deposit) and the other two parties received nothing. Denise (in charge of the mansion events) told us only half of the deposit was refundable. It has now been months, and I still don't have my share back, and the other party only got $200 back from the extra $200 they were sent. Don't trust these people under any circumstances. They deceive, lie, and won't even refund people that write them checks.

First, I will start with the lovely staff, there was a little bit of a mixup with our reservation,…read morebut they worked tirelessly to make it right. They are very quick to communicate and on top of everything! The house itself is absolutely stunning with incredible detail blending historic details with modern amenities. The rooms are beautiful and inviting. The main area is ready to host any event and well laid out. Speaking of events, their expert team was setting up for an indoor wedding and it was so beautiful. There are extras such as a pool table, games and a hot tub; all ready for their guests to enjoy. The breakfast offered a variety of breakfast items, meeting the needs of any picky eater. I highly recommend The Blackwell for your stay and even though we are local to it, are planning our next stay!

Really wondered why this place is so highly rated. The place is marketed as a 4* hotel and highly…read morerated. Reality is that - 1st, there is no staff available to check in... (all remote & one needs to register on line to check in). Currently, the place is torn up (that is unexpected but OK). The issues were 1) room is quite dirty, 2) very noisy as there were work with plumbing and there is a new condo building next door, 3) the breakfast does not start until 9:00 AM... and only was comprised scrambled eggs with some sort of cheese and sausage and soggy potatoes. The only saving grace is that the lady at the place was friendly and location is near walkable area to the business district. Be aware that there is no A/C here (as it is an older facility). They provide a couple of heaters - one in the main room and one in the bathroom... It does take time for the one in the main room to warm up... Super cold when it was about 40ish outside...

The house and grounds are magnificent, the service warm but discrete. Items that in name brand properties you get charged for are gratis here, without asking. Bottled water and ice in the fridge, Keurig machine and selection in the room, wonderful home-made short cookies on a plate, chips and breakfast bars in a basket in the room, and the best part, their own breakfast blend of coffee already for you to brew loaded up in the coffee machine. It is so nice to wake up to a flavorful strong cup of coffee in the morning, this makes the stay worth it right there. The beds are big, comfortable with high end linen. The bathrooms are big, huge, with terrycloth robes and Egyptian towels. Wifi is great with very good speed (35Mb/s avg.). I've stayed in three different rooms and all had their own warm personality and classic touches. I really like the Mountain penthouse room with the small private deck. They know I'm a smoker and always have an ashtray out there waiting. When I come in the door I'm welcomed by name. So nice after a long drive or flight. When I walk in I know that I don't have to worry about anything, it's already taken care of.

This bed and breakfast is one of the higher class at a very affordable price. Breakfast served hot…read moreto our room. Fresh orange juice, fruit accompanied our breakfast. One of the best features is a fan located in the room that I used since I love to sleep with a fan blowing directly on me at night. What a wonderful stay..
