    Tierra Y mar

We stopped in after work. It's near to a few hotels in the Chester area. It felt like we were just there a really long time. Drink sizes seemed to increase without an increase in alcohol, was unclear where our appetizers were even after ordering entrees. Food was good, I enjoyed everything I ate. A Tierra Y Mar and a sangria. They had free parking and were easy to access. There were graduation decorations up, which was funny. Music was loud in there. The experience was fine, and to be fair we were a bigger group on a Monday.

So nice and close to Hampton /95. Per Yelp only decent place close by. Ordered and I based what to order on other reviews. He got chicken fajitas, so enjoyed. I got shrimp burrito was good. The house margaritas needed more umph had it upgrades to an ultimate. Place is not the cleanest ..busy staff is attentive, friendly.

Horrible I ordered the Carnitas tacos. I got them. They were soggy and cold. The meat had no flavor and there was lettuce and cheese on my tacos where as Carnitas tacos have onion and cilantro they looked nothing like the tacos on the website. Do not order them.

First visit to La Raina. Not sure what was here before, but from the outside and inside it gives the vibe of a diner. I was warmly greeted and was provided a menu. After a minute settled on a settled on a burrito loco. It was incredibly good and supplants another area restaurant as my favorite for a burrito. The salsas that came with the chips were also very good, but the chips themselves were just ok.. Based on only this dish, I highly recommend!

Conveniently located beside the hotel I where I was staying, this little gem has good food and drinks. This was my second visit and I believe the management has changed since the last time. I had the shrimp burrito with grilled onions, peppers and covered in queso and it was delicious. I also had a pineapple margarita on the rocks that I couldn't finish but you can take it with you as they allow cocktails to go which is a plus.

If you guys haven't been here, you're really missing out. The food is quick. It's hot and it's good. The margaritas are so good so strong and quick. I love this place. I'll be coming here a lot.

This is a review for a visit on 10/14/2024, on what is now called indigenous peoples day. We were off that day and my real live adult son (a built-in designated driver) took me out for what was supposed to be breakfast but turned out to be brunch. I ordered the Carnitas. It came with beans and rice. My boy ordered the usual, which was a burrito. Came with the usual chips and salsa and that southern white sauce that tastes like "cool ranch". But what I definitely liked was that the complementary chips came with a bean dip/refried bean dip. I ordered a margarita. At my old big age I know what a margarita is. I just wanted a standard, you know, lime salt, or sugar rimmed but they gave me some kind of pineapple margarita with fruit. I brought this up. They said it was a regular margarita, whatever I ain't finna argue about no booze. Long story short the Carnitas were delicious. They were the most moistest and freshest Carnitas that I've ever had at a restaurant in this area. The chips were hot. The salsa was delicious. And all of that pineapple whatever kind of margarita got your girl drunk off that one drink, and It wasn't even 1pm yet. The day was lost. But whatever. Someone there said that they have burritos de desayunos and I'm definitely gonna have to try that. I recommend.

Chicken Tamales... what's left at least

I really enjoyed coming here today. My little fella and I stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and there were only 2 other tables with guests, so we were seated immediately. The service was top notch! Not sure if it was because they weren't super busy, but the gentleman helping us was so attentive. The decor is pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant, but with a modern twist (Frida Kahlo, but holding some... "fresh herbs" shall we say.) Not generally my vibe, but I did think it was a nice play on the generic hacienda scenes you normally see. The food was very good. My big guy always orders the same thing: French fries and Queso and he said it was delicious. I had a chicken tamale and the birria ramen and the birria was soooooooo tender. I had to use a spoon for some of it because it kept falling apart on my chopsticks. It was THAT tender. The broth was good - definitely not traditional ramen broth but was feeling it! A nice hefty squeeze of lime and it was awesome! The tamale was good too, not at all dry which tends to be my biggest complaint with them. They served it with some verde and some Queso for dipping. Yum! I also LOVED that they served a little bowl of beans alongside the salsa and white sauce. THIS is what I want to dip my chips in! It was very good and creamy, but also... what an awesome perk! I have never been to another restaurant that does that, but you better believe this will now be my go-to restaurant because of it. We also ordered some churros and they were really good! So crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. I also really liked that they have a picture menu on each table that lists their drinks, desserts, cocktails, etc. No guessing what kind of desserts they have, or how the drinks look. The attention to detail here really makes these place stand out in my opinion. This will definitely be our new place going forward!

This is the best Mexican and TexMex in the Richmond VA region. The service can be a bit lacking but the food makes up for it.

When I visit a Mexican restaurant, I always get a hard shell taco. I love the ability to compare a basic food item to other places. Theirs was very good - ample meat. For my main, I can't remember what it was called but it was a trio of meats - steak, chicken and shrimp - grilled, with mixed veggies. I asked for only grilled onions and they did not disappoint!! Excellent!! The server was very attentive throughout the meal then disappeared on us when we needed the check. But not bad. But the funny part, we sat there for a long while after we got the bill not realizing we were supposed to pay up front. lol. Highly recommend!

The highlight was definitely the tacos, but the refried beans were the best I've ever had from a Mexican restaurant. Very rich and filling. If you're tired of paying an arm and a leg for mediocre tacos, this is the place for you. It was well worth what I paid. The Texas margarita was a great and had a nice zip. Not too sweet and a generous pour. Ambiance was typical of this type of joint. There is neat lighting behind the bar. I highly recommend!
