It was a Friday after a long week, I needed some delicious mexican food. I went to Don Jose because they always make the best food. When I arrived, they were able to seat me rather quickly. I was met as soon as I got in the restaurant. The seat was in the middle of the restaurant and I was able to enjoy all of the vibes all around. I order the churi-pollo and it came out so good. My kids bought me dinner for my birthday. They asked what I wanted, and I said steak fajitas with rice and beans from Don Jose. It has been a while since I got this, but I really liked it. Tonight was very disappointing. The rice and beans were fine, but there was very little steak in the fajita. It was all vegetable with very little steak, compared to what I remember. Moreover, they did not include tortillas. Very disappointed in this meal. Edit: I found the tortillas in the Jeep this morning. Apparently they fell out of the bag. You know, looking at the name and the location of the place, exactly the sort of American Mexican this place is and it delivers. The salsa has a nice zip to it (they definitely make their own), the chips are hot, the portions are generous, the avocado is ripe, the sauces are delicious... Honestly you can't really go wrong. Everything we selected, our waiter eagerly approved of. Well... Almost everything. Mom ordered flan ( My favorite! Per the waiter). I wanted something a little different and inquired about my options. Which is better, the churros or the sopapillas? Ordered through Door Dash. 2.5 rounded up to 3 cause it's food..... heads up, don't get anything with ground beef. Ordered 1 temal, it was decent. Ordered churros it came with like 3 or 4 and they put whipped cream and chocolate sauce on it ad put it in the veg with the hot foods. Needless to say it was soup when I got it but still churros. Food came with 2 bags chips and salsa so that's a plus. HOWEVER, my chile relleno tasted like refrigerator/freezer and fabuloso. I understand with this corvid situation you gotta cut corners but nah. I can take lack luster everything else but I'll be d****d if I'm eating something that taste like somebody's house smells. Took 13 people there tonight. Excellent service and the food was great. I highly recommend.

Had dinner on a Wednesday evening with my daughter. The restaurants ambiance was pretty typical. Some of the tables were a little close together but it was fine. No wait to be seated, chips and salsa brought right to the table. We were also given cheese dip for free because it was the special that evening. And yes, this restaurant has the white sauce I got my usual (beef burrito, chicken enchilada and rice) and it was hot and yummy. Great service (fast and attentive). For a party our size, they made sure they moved effectively. The food is good but average. Atmosphere is good for small groups. I was a bit disappointed when I asked for a margarita in the rocks with salt and when I got it, I reminded the waitress that I asked for salt and she brought it back with salt practically everywhere except the rim. The glass was a mess and there was salt inside my glass at the bottom of my drink. The margarita was good but the salt at the end was an unpleasant surprise. read more
