So you drive up and it apparently used to be a Burger a King. Instead of Home of the Whopper, it says Home of the Taco.... Needless to say it made us go HMM but the reviews looked good on Google my wife picked it and we are always open for something new. The food is AMaAZING! India and Mexican fusion, what what?? Didn't get a picture of it but the chicken tandoori nachos were fabulous... Lots of those red flavorful nuggets of chicken, with I assume white cheese sauce / queso blanco and refried beans all on top of tortilla chips. We were basically full after this Wife got a quesabirria (with a ton of refried beans - I'm a big fan of) and I got a quesadilla Texana - we barely were able to eat it and had a ton of leftovers. Quick service but place was far from busy; I can only assume the owner came over to check on how the food is and what we thought - he is Indian and wife is Mexican which site makes sense for the fusion cuisine. Highly recommended! Bit out of our way but whenever we are going south on 95 and hungry, we will def check it back out. My wife wanted to try something involving the butter chicken. Decided to get out & try LaLoteria for a change. Our luck they were having HVAC issues the day we visited & we almost didn't stay. The staff was quick to greet us & take us to a table. They were extremely attentive & friendly. Menu options vary slightly from other restaurants which was refreshing. Our food was delivered piping hot & looked good. Flavor & seasoning were on point too. I approached another couple who seemed like regulars & they assured us the temperature in the restaurant that day was out of the ordinary. Bottom line, I'm glad we stayed & I look forward to another visit. read more

Customer service... OUTSTANDING!!! Flavor... AMAZING... will we be back? Absolutely. I couldn't believe how empty it was at lunch time and the only thing I could think is... it's because people don't know about it... i mean it was a Burger King for a very long time... then it was shut down for a while... but now, it's a delicious Mexican place. They didn't have any to go menus because the woman said they were about to change the menu. The only thing I would have changed is the dryness of the chicken in the chimichanga... it needed some sauce or something... but other than that, it's so good and we will be back!! read more

Ok so boom.... We have a concert to go to at VSU. We're searching for where to go eat prior. La Loteria pops up. Over 4.5 stars on Yelp and Google. We both love Mexican... it's like a no brainer. Why did all these reviews LIE to me like this lol but no really.. one of the worst Mexican places I've ever been too. Their margaritas are $12... but we got them on happy hour for $5.99. I would've been extra mad if they were full price. They also tasted nothing like a margarita which was strange. Food wise, I got the sampler. It said chicken nachos, chicken quesadillas, and wings. It was chips with cheese sauce and chicken lol, a basic plain quesadillas, 2 pieces.... And 2 wings that I'm pretty sure are Tyson wings. Even better - there was a hair in my food. It happens. Guy said everyone in the back wears hairnets. Guess what - we went to pay for our food and you could see in the back. Not a single person with a hair net I'm assuming the owner was the one serving us. Super nice guy but a lot needs to happen for that place to be remotely good. read more

I love the hospitality by all employees. And the food is excellent. They serve great drinks and cocktails.

Let's start off by saying the tortillas are hand made that never happens and I'm really happy about that . I had the carne asada tacos . They were delicious. It was a good serving size and it came with rice and refried beans. Also a side of chips with red and white sauce . The salsa verde was perfect and the salsa roja was very spicy . It was delicious. There's not alot of places to eat down in Ettrick. This is definitely what we needed down here. read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Tucked away on a back road close to VSU in what used to be an old Burger King. Don't let the outside fool you. When you walk in, it's warm and inviting, the staff is kind, friendly and helpful. I love that they utilize the old drive through window as a pick up window for to go orders. So convenient. The Tandoori Nachos are out of this world. The Guacamole will change your life. Some of our favorites from the menu are the Birria Quesadilla, the Quesadilla Texana, Tandoori Tacos and the Arroz con Pollo. I hope this restaurant is able to do well and stay in business, one of the best Mexican restaurant's in the area. read more

There's a new restaurant in town so I had to come and try it!! We walked in the door and was immediately greeted by the hostess and our waitress, Mak. Mak was quick with our drink order, chips and salsa. She also gave us some recommendations. I came in saying I would not get Birria, that I would try something else...I still got Birria!!! I got the quesabirra and it was so good. The beef was juicy and I almost didn't need the consumé. The rice and beans were very flavorful (a friend of the owner even let me try the fresh made salsas..which was delish). We also got a chicken quesadilla which was stuffed with chicken, onions, peppers and cheese (hold the tomatoes). The chicken was grilled and tender. I'm getting that next time!!! Mak checked on us often and made sure we were set with to-go items. There is music and a tv for dining ambiance. They are set up to have a bar area, just waiting on their license. The only thing I would suggest is to put up a frosted window film at the tables that connect to the store. There was a gentleman that was playing a "casino" game and looking directly at us the whole time. It was a little awkward but once my food came out, I quickly forgot about him (sorta). I will return because the food is good, the service is awesome and there are other things on the menu that I need to try!!! read more

A hidden jem in colonial heights! I have been passing by this place for a little while and today I decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed at all! Food was great! We got Chori Pollo, Tandoori Tacos, and Cochinita Pibil Tacos. All were very tasty, as advertised, and arrived at the table quickly and fresh. Plates were all hot. Rice and beans came with all entrees and were pretty standard. Service was excellent! Our server was friendly and helpful and kept up well with the needs of our table. Refills could maybe be handled a little better--perhaps bring a new glass first and then take the old one so customers aren't without a drink at any point. Atmosphere was chill. It's a converted Burger King restaurant, so it definitely still has that feel. Everything was clean. The first table we sat at was wobbly, but we were moved and everything was fine. read more
