    Ahhhhh, paletas!!!
    Mike D.

This place is a gem!!! They have the most amazing ice creams...flavors you're not gonna find anyplace else. The owner is actually from Michoacán I think. I've heard that people drive up from LA just for this ice cream. I believe it! You can get scoops, but the paletas are my fave. The chocolate is the Mexican kind, not the super sweet regular stuff. Strawberries and cream, watermelon, pistachio, mango chile...make sure you take some home. You can thank me later. (Please, no comments about the neighborhood, ok?) REALLY good! Go!

Such a Delicious refreshing treat! Best place with paletas and ice cream, aguas frescas, fresas con crema and díablitos. They have so many kinds of paletas, like tamarindo, mango, pico de gallo, corn, avocado which sound strange but are good. Mamey, nanche, coco, nuez,Jamaica, fresas con crema which is my favorite! Also the actual Fresas con creme is delicious.

Amazing place for paletas near Tower District (perfect for a thrift shop break). The shop is vibrant and clean. There is seating and a gorgeous mural. We enjoyed the cookies & cream, strawberry, and corn cream paletas. All were fantastic! The strawberry and corn had frozen chunks of the fruit/vegetable so just make sure you are okay with that! We loved them! They also have paletas made with water vs dairy if you have allergies or prefer the more "American" popsicle taste. On Thursdays they have them for $1 (regularly only $2).

My first time here I got some paletas and a chocolate covered banana. Everything was delicious seriously maybe delicious is an understatement! I will definitely be back to try a lot more on their menu.

I got the lime ice cream. It was pretty refreshing. I'd give it a 3.5 rating if possible. A little on the pricey side though.

    Line'm up!

A nice change of pace from the reqular ice cream and frogurt places. I've always wondered what the guys pushing the carts around were selling, now I know. I had the mexican guava palleta. The taste was pretty good, (I could really taste the fresh Guava in it), but I'm not a fan of the seeds in it. They are a little smaller than a lemon seed, and pretty hard to chew. There are so many flavors to choose from, I've got to get back there and get some more.

    Paletas!!

Any deals on a large order?

Depending on how many you want, it's worth asking ahead. I recall last summer getting a buy 5 get 1 free deal, but when I went in recently, they didn't mention it and I didn't see it on the board anywhere. The gentleman at the counter wasn't…

The location does have one restroom inside for customers and plenty of seating indoors and some outdoors too. Location and restroom were very clean and staff were very friendly! I decided to try two flavors since I was only passing through and couldn't easily come back to try it again. I got two of their monthly flavors, the sweet corn and the treasure chest. The sweet corn lacked flavor, you can only get a hint of it. There were a few corn pieces mixed in, but they were few and far between, plus they didn't have a strong corn flavor either. I loved the concept but execution was disappointing. The treasure chest was very good, though I personally wished there was a more even ratio of brown butter cookie to brownie. I can't recall if I even got any brownie pieces. Flavor was excellent otherwise. The other complaint that I have is that the scoop is small. As you can see from my photo, my two scoops looked like 1 scoop. Not worth the price. I know competitors like Han**ls, where I'm a regular at, have given bigger scoops. All in all, still a great quality ice cream.

We were in town the morning after seeing the Firefail. Finally success on the third visit attempt. Amongst other shops on the desolate street stood an unremarkable window front where the repeat button has remained on since the 60s. Within was an eclectic mix of Japanese American household fixtures and Americana. Rustic. Nothing like Benkyodo's proper shelf presentation - or a hamburga stand. Some Japanese goods were on offer, but you come here for something sweet. We got a couple of mochi and manju, traditional red bean flavors, because that's all that was left. Their manju, seeming to have a different "batter" and "panini"-grilled, had a crumbly texture. The mochi though... Have you seen that viral video of that slapping mochi shop in Nara? What about people enjoying it? How soft it was, leaving a vegan cheese pull with every bite? This was by far the softest mochi I've ever had, and I thoroughly enjoyed the soy dusted yomogi. The bigger size of the mochi also accentuated the softness of the mochi. The matcha, also green, had a distincting different flavor, just so you know that the shop wasn't cheating. My partner in crime loved the lima bean mochi. The red bean filling tasted homemade, good flavor but not too sweet - the best compliment you can give an Asian in a world that remains overrun by pollo ala naranja. We are proud* that such a heritage perseveres on, especially in a part of town that's honestly become quite desecrated of life. Call ahead to see if the shop is open, and try to come early. The shop is a one woman show, and if my first two visits say anything, this lady enjoys having a life. And yes, she does sell out. She was nearly sold out when we visited. And try to enjoy the mochi ASAP. The mochi will last in the fridge. The texture will not. If you come at the right time of the year, the shop will have mochi in different fruit and pie flavors, and even ice cream mochi. *OK, "I'm proud of you" might be a bigger compliment to an Asian. And yes, there's Fugetsu in LA, but I haven't been. Though if you need a reason to visit the Fresno, you can always take the 99 traveling between SoCal and NorCal... Just need to be early if much is desired. If you're interested in AYCEat mochi, staying healthy, working out for free, and have an eye for the art of making mochi, may I suggest asking the owner for an apprenticeship? The owner's mentioned on articles that there's no one to take over and you don't become a master overnight.

Parking was a bit crowded so since it was just around the lunch hour. The lady that helped us was very kind. I was with my husband along with my two littles and when we get ampersand together we normally get the flight sampler which comes in a square container with 4 scoops. It's perfect portion to share and try a few of their monthly flavors. They offer samples. My daughter wanted rocky road and as for the rest of the flavors we chose chocolate PB, brownies and caramel and raspberry beret. Each ice cream was perfectly scooped and so creamy. My favorite of all the flavors was raspberry beret, consisting of raspberry jam, vanilla ice cream and blondies. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the ice cream shop is clean. I was excited to try the Tomato & Sage but when I tasted it, it was a little too savory for me. I typically do love those savory ice creams, but this one didn't really hit the spot for me. I think from this month's flavors I liked the Oki Matcha and Peanut Butter and Jelly. The best classic flavors for me are definitely rocky road and whiskey caramel swirl. Service as usual is great! Staff is welcoming and friendly and allow you to sample what you want to try. The ambiance inside is nice. It gives a great hangout spot vibe and perfect for the summer time! There is a patio outside and when the sun is down it is great to sit out there. While the lines become somewhat long, you definitely aren't waiting for long. They keep the lines moving and the service rolling!
