I have a definite Pavlovian response to weather warming up because I grew up in Arizona. When it's warm/hot, I want Mexican food. This has been a little difficult in Oregon and even harder at the coast. It is not the same. We have been to the two other usual Mexican Lincoln City spots a few times over the years with my former in laws. They are ok. But not delicious, not really. Pretty gringo- ish. Which is so sad. The kid and his BF had gone to La Roca on a date recently after our Latina phlebotomist at Samaritan gave it a positive report. The kids liked it. So today on chemo day we kept breakfast light and picked up takeout after. The woman on the phone was efficient and promised 15 minutes for pickup! We were lucky and scored parking right in front. At 3pm it was busy. It is cute inside. Kid got fish tacos and a horchata. Why mess with perfection? he said. I didnt get to see him eat cuz I stepped out of the room for five min when we got home. INHALED ! I got a carne asada plate. Everything was delicious.The beans and rice were just right. There were 3 soft warm tortillas. It was not hella expensive like some (most) other coast places. In the bag we found tasty yummy red and hot green salsas, , chips, plasticware, napkins, and everything was packaged and plated well. Awesome. I am a very happy camper and we will do it again. A great, laidback little Mexican joint over on the Coast with excellent service and tasty food. Plenty of vegetarian options and portion sizes were large. I settled for the 2 item vegetarian combo with a bean burrito and a bean tostada, and everything was great. Food was fresh and came out quick, and the servers were extremely attentive. Yum! I've been eating La Roca since the 90s in Philomath, and I was so pleased to stop here in Lincoln City. My order used to be the super burrito split in half with my best friend. Today, I got a carne asada burrito covered in chili verde sauce. The flavors were just like I remembered and I enjoyed it very much. I brought half of it home and it was great the next day too! The green had a good kick to it, but just ok. I have not has mole in a long time. So I gave it a shot. It was just fine. Would not order again. Did nice have that deep rich flavor I was hoping for. The largest burrito consisting of 3 meats was surprisingly lacking flavor and tasted mostly of rice. The margaritas were made with plastic bottles of cheap premixed marg. Small dining room so a wait can develop easily. The staff were nice and the food arrived within 5 minutes of being ordered (this can be a positive or a negative depending on your point of view). Other reviews left me expecting good Mexican food but overall our party felt it was not up to caliber. The one highlight, however, were the fish tacos and tacos pastor. read more

Ordered take out last week and it was delicious food and portion sizes are quite generous. There are several vegetarian options to choose from which was amazing. We got the vegetarian burrito which is huge and the spinach quesadilla. They do give you a bag of fresh tortilla chips and salsa with your order also. Popped in our way to Depoe Bay, because the Autobon 101 was closed ...(Wanted German food!), read the reviews and was not as good as we hoped for! Was only 8 people in the place when seated....so not busy...chips came with 2 sauces.....dark was not good! The green was ok......order a CADILLAC margarita.....made it with Jose Quervo Gold....really? And shaken in a tumbler with the Grand Mariner combined... not floated.....am I getting picky?...lol....I have a 6 star home Mexican place we frequent, this was no where close! Fajitas for 2 chicken and steak, 4 times as much chicken....after my wife had 2 small tortillas of steak, it was gone...not much flavor....I had to add salt....the beans were very runny and a spoon of sour cream and guacamole.....for $36 I expected better!! Had to order a beer to get the "CADILLAC" taste outta my mouth...I appreciate that Lincoln City Oregon is not a hot bed for great food.....but wanted some home cooked Mexican! I really have no idea how they got 4.5 stars ‍ They were friendly and food was done fast we ordered takeout. The beans were extremely runny and rice didn't have flavor. Very small portions of both. The chips were not great at all not even my chip loving toddler would eat them lol and the salsa was very flavorless and no spice to it at all. It's like they water everything down to go a lot further or something yikes. Horchata was terrible. And I guess I'll save the worst for last, our churros we're so rock hard I couldn't break them in half let alone bite them they were completely fossilized! Made me think they tried to refry them to try and freshen them up for our order. One of our favorite restaurants to eat at. We love the food and it always is pretty busy. They were closed for renovations and we thought they were closed permanently and were so happy when they reopened. The waitresses are nice and friendly. Yum! We stopped by here for tacos and enchiladas and left full and happy. My partner enjoyed the cabeza and lengua tacos. I got the lunch-size chicken enchilada with red sauce and it was delicious (not spicy). It came with one enchilada and rice and beans, which ended up being enough food for dinner. Mexican food is my absolutely favorite food and I've traveled the world eating at all kinds of Mexican restaurants and food trucks. I also went to culinary school and owned my own restaurant for multiple years so I have pretty high standards. This is a must try place and we will definitely be back.
