I went solo for Sunday breakfast at the Wildflower Grill. I ordered the full size version of their "French Toast with a Twist." Three double thick slices of their Wildflower bread with a small fruit garnish. (I was going to be hiking out to the God's Thumb and figured lots of carbs were in order.) The wait staff was friendly and I was seated right away. So why only four stars? [[HIGHLIGHT]]The building, actually a repurposed house has marvelous bones and the woodland setting out the back is dreamy but the interior decor takes little advantage of this and for this reason pulls down the ambience of the establishment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't get me wrong it's spacious, clean, and tidy, it could just use a little more decor that captures the setting and the cottage feel of the building, IMO.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Additionally the menu is a bit sparse for such a nice place that does its own baking. Incoming year for years with family at least 20 years or so and every time it's good the quality and the taste in the service has never left, but the waiting is a bit of annoyance but it's a busy place so come prepared to wait for a little bit. We love stopping at the Wildflower Grill on our visits to Lincoln City. The servers are always friendly, the cafe is always busy. The food is always fresh and tasty. We tried the pancakes this week and they were amazing and fluffy. My husband and I had omelets that were filled generously and not greasy. Hashbrowns were a little overcooked, but I loved the crunchy bits so mine were fine. We didn't love the coffee, a little bitter for us, but everything else was great. Great food! We stopped in for a quick lunch on our way through 101 and it didn't disappoint! My daughter had the PB&J on homemade bread, and ate it. I had the Philly, husband had the fish tacos and my mom had the ham and Swiss. 10/10. If I could give this a zero I would. This was my 2nd attempt to eat at this restaurant as it seems to always be busy and has decent reviews. Still, after the 2nd time, I have left before I even tried any food. The first time, I was told the wait would be extensive and I should go elsewhere for breakfast. The 2nd time, we waited 30 minutes to be seated. We were served water, and then didn't see a server for another 15 minutes. Meanwhile, they seated everyone else that came in and were cleaning tables all over the restaurant. After we asked for the server, he was there to take our food but was rushing us to order drinks and food at the same time. One of our party had not decided on food and he wouldn't skip around the table, was adamant about going left to right, and then just walked away. The service here may be the worst we've experienced. We waited over 30 minutes just to be seated, and during that time there was no effort to greet us or even offer coffee within the first 15 minutes of being sat. This was our second visit, and unfortunately the service was just as unfriendly as the first. An easy stop on the way in or out of Lincoln City, I have dropped by here twice. They have plenty of the parking. It overlooks a large marshy woody area that I watched several deer walk through during my last meal. It feels like a house walking inside with tables in different rooms. One of the worst dining experiences I've had -- thanks to the way this place is run. The host/waiter handling tables was downright disrespectful and discriminatory. Over the phone we were told the wait would be 30 minutes, but when we arrived he deliberately made us wait an hour while seating people who came after us. It felt intentional, discriminatory, and completely unprofessional. What makes it worse is that the manager seemed powerless to control her staff, which is unfair to her but an even bigger problem for the guests. We came here because previous reviews said it was vegan-friendly, but that was definitely not our experience. Two of us are vegan, and when I asked the waiter about vegan options, I was abruptly told there were none and that they would not accommodate us in any way. He then left the table for about 10 minutes before coming back to ask what we wanted to order. I ended up getting the spinach salad and had most of it removed just to make it work, but the walnut vinaigrette was far too sweet. The fries, which someone else ordered, were actually very good, so I ended up filling up on those. Had a brunch over the July 4th weekend here -- Yelp has this restaurant as the top spot for brunch in Lincoln City. After a long 45 wait outside we were seated...and the service was bare bones. The waiter almost seemed in a rush although they were a couple hours from closing. I went with a ham and cheddar and wife went with a crab cake benedict. Sides included potato's and bread. The potatoes were good and the house bread was very good. The omelette was very average at best. The wife thought the crab cake omelette was also just average. I was here the day the two other reviews are on here. 1st off, the place is small and they were a party of 8 (none of the areas that were open could accommodate this party). Second off they were rude, yelling, cursing and wouldn't leave when asked. Also, it got so aggressive by THEM , that I thought about calling the cops as many of the people were looking around nervous and scared. They finally left after 25 minutes of them being crazy. There was also plenty of multi racial, ethnic people in the restaurant as well. They should heed, "our kids were with us," with those same intentions. People should hear both sides of THIS story. The food was great! Great portions, bread was thick and soft, cooked amazing and service was decent (not overtly friendly, but not rude). I can't say enough good things about this place. Hands down my favorite place I ate during my week stay in depoe bay. I loved the fresh baked bread toast and homemade jam. I could sit here all day and relax. I loved the old house, the greenery surrounding it, just peaceful. We were seated right away at a table with views of the green space, you'd never guess the highway was on the other side, you couldn't even hear it. Another thing I loved was the simplicity of the menu, I hate being overwhelmed with choices. Everything looked delicious but what caught my eye was the seafood omelet . When we politely asked why, the server was openly rude, dismissive, and even laughed at us. He went so far as to tell us to 'Get Out' instead of addressing the issue, all while smirking like it was some kind of joke. This behavior was not only unprofessional but came across as discriminatory and racist, which was incredibly upsetting especially since we had kids with us. The manager did eventually apologize, but the server was never asked to, and it felt like the situation was brushed off instead of being handled seriously. Absolutely unacceptable treatment.
