Very surprised with this place we were craving a lobster roll And this place was the only place we could find that had one and it was a special. We saw a lot of reviews talk about how good the Ramen was so we decided to try it and honestly didn't have very high expectations due to a small town The meal blew us away. The lobster roll was delicious but did wish the lobster pieces had more coating of sauce. When eating the bit with the greens it was delish. The lobster portion was pretty good compared to other rolls we've had. The spicy crab ramen was definitely the star. The broth was spicy and flavorful, but not too spicy, and there was a pretty decent portion of Dungeness crab, which we were surprised because we were expecting a little spec. There was lots of fixing steaks cooked perfectly and lots of noodles. we will definitely stop here every time we come back to Lincoln city now for that Ramen. read more

We went to the food pod just for Rook and Larder. We were there right at 11 am on Saturday because we knew that he sold out. We were impressed with the menu but ultimately were there for the Ramen!!! We did the spicy crab and the pork Ramen. We were super impressed with the quality of food. The soy eggs in my opinion were the winners! They were cooked to perfections and just make the meal. The spicy crab was a little warm for me but the flavor was amazing!! The owner was friendly and kind plus made recommendations on which Ramen to try. Was not expecting to find an auteur food cart out in Lincoln City but I was pleasantly surprised by the ambition on display here. Bold flavors and a unique vision combine to create visually stunning dishes. Honestly, going to the beach became an after thought. If I'd driven home after a stop to Rook and Larder, my trip would have felt complete. The Japanese Street Corn could have been roasted a bit more, but the dry toppings and creamy sauce underneath made for a delicious flavor explosion with every bite. The Dungeness Crab Ramen was just the right amount of ocean flavor paired with a broth that can really kick! I was happy to find a good amount of crab chunks and noodles with the perfect texture. Prices are absolutely fair for the quantity of food you get. Beach pricing can be a bit absurd but for such a gourmet menu, we're being spoiled getting it out of a food cart no less. Okay, I was almost disappointed because this was the, out of many, suggested on yelp that I wanted to try around the location we were visiting for a few hours. We arrived at an odd hour and after inquiring about their items I was interested in I stated I would check what else was available as this is in a food truck court. We had not visited this location so checked the other vendors and decided I knew I wanted the Lobster roll. I came back with a sign saying they were on a break... I felt, wow my luck didn't come around today.. I told my husband I may just wait because I was so excited to try it. So I did... and wow am I happy I did. I had food poisoning earlier this week but said f*ck it, risk it all for the plot. The crab roll: the HOUSEMADE brioche bun-- to die for the crab- fresh as f*ck the fennel and arugula salad-- drool so good the cool sauce-- sir, you are the sauce! And it came with a side salad of arugula and spicy pickled zucchini. I've never in my life... how have I never had pickled zucchini?! 10/10 do recommend The lemon pound cake: Cake-- yes, yes, yes! Lemony, not too sweet, dense and spongy at the same time. My mind is blown. BlackBerry compote-- the freshest berries in a slurp worthy bath Topped with homemade whip cream with FREAKIN LEMON ZEST shavings. If you've had good Nashville hot chicken, I wouldn't bother. Luckily, the WCIPA beer from Vin & Beau was decent to kill the flavor. The menu was beautiful, and it's always good when it's hard to make a decision. I ended up going for the Spicy Crab Ramen, because who wouldn't? It was delicious, spiced perfectly, and could easily compete with some higher-end ramen I've eaten in big cities. Hard to believe this was executed in such a small food truck. 3.5 stars I had the 50/50 crab and shrimp roll. The house made bread was very nice and the seafood good, but not memorable. There was just a major lack of flavor. What was (surprisingly) memorable was the house pickled veggies that came on the side. They were amazing. I would buy a cupful of just those if they were offered. So much flavor. It might because the veggies were so good that the seafood roll got lost-- I don't know. it just didn't have the same umph. It was fine, but just bland (and pricey). I'm not going to order one again. They were very slow the day we were there and so we were left waiting quite awhile. Last time I tried to come here they were closed, so I'm glad I finally got to try this cart. I ordered the salmon belly ramen from the summer menu and a mini classic tillamook Mac & cheese. The Mac and cheese had a nice thick cheese flavor, sadly no cheese pull but still delicious! The salmon belly ramen was my favorite, it was so refreshing. The broth tasted clean, a sweet citrus broth with a slight kick from the chili crisps. The noodles were perfect. The salmon melts in your mouth and I loved the crispy salmon piece was the perfect salty texture. I could eat this everyday if I could and I will be recommending this to everyone I know. Located at The Pines food truck complex. Really nice menu from po boys to ramen to salads. More than you'd expect from such a tiny trailer. Good service. Went with the blackened rockfish po boy. 12" sandwich, a real meal. Took about ten minutes to get. Awesome bread, lightly toasted, felt more like a panini. Lots of fresh, thoughtful ingredients. Not sure they all blended together well but it definitely wakes up the tastebuds. They are making some of the best food on this stretch of the coast, just as good if not better than most of the higher priced sea food restaurants in the area. The food is creative, fresh, beautifully presented and most importantly delicious and generously portioned. Is it priced like a food cart? No. It is priced according to the food you are getting and it's some damn fine food. The crab sandwich is of mammoth proportions and the quality and quality of crab will not leave you wanting unlike so many other sea food restaurants that skimp on the crab and shrimp. Did I mention chefs here is making his own bread? No? Well they are. Before I forget, they also make some wonderful salads and soups, including a French onion soup and a seafood chowder that is East coast chowder fan approved. The ingredients are fresh and many of them local as well, which is always appreciated. We got the chicken sandwich, salad, corn, and BBQ mac & cheese. Everything was delicious except the mac & cheese, which was totally flavorless with overcooked noodles and too much liquid. My girlfriend called it the worst mac & cheese she had ever had. I ended up taking it home, cooking off the excess liquid, and adding onion, garlic, and salt to it, plus a little extra meat and toasted bread crumbs. It was finally decent. The pickled veggies added so much flavor to the sandwich. The service was friendly, and the turnaround time was only about 15 minutes, which was suitable for the level of food we received. I had the blackened rock fish. Wonderful! The bread (focaccia?) cut narrow and thoughtfully wrapped with paper so you can unwrap w/o all the good stuff falling out. Rook & Larder is the gourmet food of food trucks. My first time trying out Rook & Larder I ordered the vegan grain bowl. Wow! I've had similar grain bowls before, but this was hands down the best ever. So many delicious flavors worked together to make for a spectacular taste buds treat. The second time I ordered the beet and cheese salad. Usually I'm not a big fan of beets, having grown up eating the canned variety. But these yellow beets were fresh and tasty. Paired with arugula, a local soft cheese, pistachios, and a creamy sauce, the beet and cheese salad far exceeded my expectations. With excellent service, high quality ingredients, and a creative menu, Rook & Larder has become my new favorite dining out experience in Lincoln City! read more
