AVOID!!! Hiring LA Roofing Services was my first hard life lesson in really needing to do just a little bit of due diligence, not blindly trusting reviews, and going with the first available company (even if you are panicking seeing water fall from your ceiling). There's so much to say, but it tried to summarize the lowlights: 1) They completely ripped me off. They charged me $5500 to repair a roof leak. Subsequently I learned a complete roof replacement from reputable, licensed companies would be $5800-$6000 with permits. 2) They do shoddy work, and will not take accountability. The extremely expensive repair did not even last till the next storm. They did send workers out to fix it the first time. But sure enough, less than a year and just 2 storms later it leaked again. That's when I called again and they told me for the first time their repairs have no warranty and are expected to last as short as 3 months. 3) They were brazen enough to try to rip me off again. They offered me a credit me towards a roof replacement since the repair did not work. But all they did was give me another ridiculous quote, $12,000 for the roof replacement and first offered to credit me $4,000. 30 minutes later, they offered me the full $5,500 back in credit, which would still amount to $6,500 which is still more than two quotes from reputable, licensed companies. 4) Fake Reviews. One of the main reasons I selected this company was a friend of mine gave them a 5 star review here. I later found out she never used them for roofing (she doesn't own a home), but they offered her a discount for another service company she used to leave a review for the roofing company. You can also see Yelp has already flagged or removed numerous reviews from this page. If you look on Google, it's even more obvious by just clicking on their reviewers and seeing very suspect reviews (e.g., the same person reviewing multiple roofing companies in different states). 5) Check licenses. They claim here and on social media they are licensed, but I suggest you check (for any business you are considering hiring) on the California State Licensing Board website. Also, check on the City of Los Angeles Website to see if there is even any licensed business associated with the address listed. All of this could have been avoided if I trusted my instincts as well. Ozzy, who came out to give me the initial estimate, didn't even go on the roof to try to understand the problem, he just did a quick measurement of the area and gave me what I thought was quite a high price. How do you know if you could even fix it? Furthermore, the roofers did not show up at the agreed upon time, and it seemed like Ozzy had no idea where they were. When they showed up at the rescheduled time, it was clear they had absolutely no background or information on my job, I had to explain the issue to them. Needless to say, after uncovering all of this I recently asked for my money back, and they have just ignored me. So I just want to share my (real) experience here in the hopes it helps others avoid this fate with the big storms we have been having. I'll also be following up elsewhere, but lesson learned, if you just take a few minutes and do some due diligence, you will be so much better off. read more

Update to the below review. Customer Service has been awesome. They contacted me and apologized for the issues I had. They did give me a partial refund. They definitely did what they could to make me happy. From the start the Customer Service was good. I have adjusted my review from 1 star to 3 stars. Due to the way they handle my issues concerns. My suggestion; if you hire LA Roofing, take pictures of damage and be certain and clear what to workers are doing. I believe I may have just had some employees that failed to do what was told. What you're looking at is the area I paid your company to repair. Your workers seen this damage and failed to do what was paid for. Company stated a 10x10 area would be repaired and that did not occur. Instead they repaired under the damage area which would obviously leak again and it did. Please see pictures Services were performed however leak was not fixed. Leak is still present at same area. I am being charged for additional services to repair what I already paid $2,400 for. What steps do I need take to ensure my roof is repaired properly. Why am I being penalized for Services not performed? Area should have been tested before and after to ensure leak was properly repaired. I went with your company because I was assured to leak would be repaired. I was informed it will cost me an additional $5000 to repair exactly what I hired your company to do and paid $2,400. How is this right? You and your workers looked me in the eye and lied straight to my face. I just had another roofer inspect work and discovered the work was not done. See pictures. To start of these are 3 words that can describe this company: 1-Unprofessional 2-Shady 3-Dishonest They ask you for 10% deposit but when you schedule the work they never showed up You have to call them to their 1800# (Shady) and speak with some representative that will not provide much help. or when you call the person that you made the actual contract, they won't answer you. If you are looking for a roofing company but dont know who to go with. Just ask for Alan, these guys are TOTAL professionals and a great team. The job i was looking to have done was not big. It was my garage which was just shy off 500 sq ft of roof replacement. Nonetheless, first day of construction there were 6 people at my house ON TIME with masks to go over the details of the job one more time. Even the color of shingles was changed after the foreman looked over it. This would have been terrible if we went with original color but now it matches the rest of the house perfectly. This was a big plus!!!! Alan was the point person who i spoke to from start to finish. Great guy, not willing to compromise safety for aesthetics. He will be firm on details if it impacts code/safety and im glad because he was right about everything!!! Hard to negotiate with but still willing to work with me on the final cost of the project. Here is how i grade this job: 1) The crew - A. 2) workmanship- A. 3) Timeliness -A. 4) Negotiable - A. 5) Cleanliness - B ( wish they took the time to cover the effected area with drapes. After living in my home for about 17 years, the roof started to leak and some shingles started to fall off. I figured it was was time to replace the roof, although it was such a big project. I contacted two other roofing companies but ended up hiring LA Roofing Services to replace the roof. I actually had someone come twice to do some "repairs" but after a few months I ended up having the same issues. A crew of about 6 guys came in and completed the project in a day and a half. They removed about four layers of old shingles and installed new ones. When they told me the re-roofing would take at most 2 days, I was very happy. Everyone else told me it would take about a week. Just like the rest of you, I'm busy with work and work long hours. I couldn't take more than 2 days off waiting for the completion of the roof. The crew is very professional, knowledgeable and experienced. They took before and after pictures and provided detailed information anytime I had a question. Alan did a great job of replacing the roofs on my house and detached garage. The roofs were in terrible shape and caused leaks in my house when it rained. They also required some plywood patching and a layer of new OSB boards due to extensive water damage and old age of the wood. Alan came by on a Sunday for the inspection and estimate, and his team started the job early the next morning and got everything done by Saturday. They scheduled very quickly and Robert had come out to my property to assess the situation. He put a tarp on my roof right away to prevent from further damages and as soon as it stopped raining he came out and provided with an estimate for the repair of my tile roof. I scheduled an appointment to have someone come and look at the flashing for a Monday evening. The representative told me she would follow up on the Friday before to confirm the date but did not. Nobody showed up on at the scheduled time so I called, got their voicemail, and left a message. I took a day off to meet the rep so I was annoyed. The same rep I made the appointment with called me back on Tuesday and said she did not have a record of me calling or making an appointment. I asked her if I was speaking to *insert her name here* to which she said yes and then her tone changed. She apologized and agreed to send someone out that evening. Two individuals arrived at the scheduled time, one younger gentleman and another one who was slightly older. Now the salesmanship begins. The lead/older guy started cracking jokes and doing as much as he could to put me in a favorable place. I understand that is part of being a salesman but I all wanted was an estimate for what it would cost to have the flashing touched up. I told the rep I made the appointment with and I reiterated that to the salesman and his partner. After a 30 minute inspection, he asked if he could come inside so we could talk. I wasn't thrilled with that but ok. We sit down at my dining room table and he starts with a story of a car he had and loved but had to sell because he was putting $1,000 into it every month. Ok. Then he pulls out a piece of paper which is a photo copy of a certificate of insurance and starts talking about how his company is licensed and bonded and they have insurance. Ok. As my partner is walking by the table who he has not said a word to up to this point, he says "Ma'am do you want to sit down and be part of this conversation?" She obliges. Now on the surface, that might seem like a nice thing to do. What he was actually doing was trying to use her a weak point in the negotiation. I will come back to that in a second. He then asks me if I have ever heard of "Owens Corning." Of course I have. He goes on to tell me how his company is licensed to install their product and if an company is not, you do not get a warranty. At this point, we are 15 minutes in and he still has not give me a number. So I reiterate all I need is a number. Now he begins to show us photos of our roof and tell us what bad shape it is in. He is directing every negative comment toward my partner hoping to scare her. The only time he looks at me is when I say something to him or the comment he is making is neutral or positive. My partner gets up from the table leaving the three of us. 20 minutes in he is still showing me photos and videos and is now showing me examples of his company's work. "I need a number. What is it going to cost to have the flashing repaired." He smiles and goes on to say we need a new roof. We purchased the home in July and during the inspection, the inspector said we needed to have the flashing touched up but the roof was overall in ok shape. I also had another company come out on Monday to get an estimate and he echoed the same sentiments regarding the roof. So I ask him why we need a new roof give what the inspector said and he goes on to tell me there are two layers of shingles, which there are, and the roof is 50 years old. I asked him how he arrived at that number and he said "Well the first layer lasts for 20 years and the second last for 20 years so what's 20 + 20?" "That would be 40, not 50 and I do not think you calculate the age of a roof buy adding up the life expectancy of the shingles. Even if you did, your math is wrong as 20 + 20 is 40 not 50 AND, I have documentation that shows the roof has been serviced since the 80s. He smiles and said "I did not say the roof was 50 years old." Ok, so now I am hearing things. At this point I know he is full of it but I want to see how far he is going to go. He next pulls out a book of shingle samples and asks me which one I like. I point to one and say "I would like a quote for a new roof with this one." He sends a text to someone and says how he works for a large company, "We have over 60 employees" and they do large jobs so he may be able to get me a better price on a different shingle. "I do not want the other shingle; I would like a price on that one" again pointing to the one I initially asked about. He smiles "You don't like the other one?" "No." He finally gives me a number for the replacement of the roof which, as far as I know, does not need to be replaced. He asks me what I think of the number and I tell him I think it is high. We start going back and forth and among other things, he tells me the inspector "lied," he feels like I don't trust him (I do not), and wants me to "show him" the research I have done on roof maintenance/replacement so I can prove his number is high. Bottom line, the company sent an untrustworthy salesman who did everything he could to "scare" me into getting a new roof from him using slimy tactics. DON'T FALL FOR IT! read more

They came on a Sunday and I agreed to have the service done for the following Friday so the sales person immediately asked me for a deposit, which I did, and promised me that I would have the contract the same day. Well, two days and many phone call later, I finally got a copy of a half edited contract. Did not contain warranty nor dates of services. Friday came and after many phone calls to enquire the ETA, someone called me with some lame excuse to tell me that they were not coming that day and I had to reschedule for Monday. I called the office and spoke to Katie and told me that she was going to call a different crew to come and do the work the same day. The other crew arrived at 4PM!! Only to find out that they had the wrong materials. I'd noticed a leak in the roof of my house about a year ago but forgot about it the minute it stopped raining and summer arrived. Out of sight, out of mind, right? This past March, though, during a spell of heavy rain, around the time the coronavirus started appearing and there was early talk of sheltering in place, the roof leak intensified. And with more rain being predicted, I couldn't ignore it any longer. I did some digging, requested some quotes, and Alan from L.A. Roofing was the first person to reach out. It was almost immediate, as if he was just waiting for my message. He came out the next day, took a look, and gave me some very sobering news about the (bad) status of my roof. With so much rain in the forecast and the impending lock down of businesses and, well, everything going down because of Covid-19, Alan's swift, bright temporary solution was to put up a weather sealed tarp. The very next day, his guys were at my house, tarp ready, and they installed it, and the rains came, and there were no leaks! One of the coolest things Alan did was he'd take the time to call me now and again over the next two months just to check and see how the tarp was holding up. "Good," I'd say. "No leaks. I will want a new roof eventually," I'd say. He'd always reply, "Whenever you are ready. I just want to make sure the tarp is holding up ok." There was never any pressure on his part, never the hard sell. Alan would just call now and again to say hello and to see if the tarp was ok. Finally, after I took care of some other home improvement matters, I had some money, and Alan happened to call. We scheduled an appointment, Alan came out, showed me some options and pricing, and we agreed to get started immediately. Turns out once the tiles were ripped off and the underlying wood was exposed, we discovered that it was old and damaged (my house was built in 1937). Alan's team installed new plywood then got to work with replacing the tiles. The end result is GORGEOUS. I couldn't be happier. Alan was responsive, communicative, and great to work with. He explained EVERYTHING to me, gave me options, and I never felt "pressured" or "swayed" into making a particular decision. His crew of workers were efficient, hard working, respectful, and funny. They left everything clean and organized. Oh, and Alan deducted the price of the tarp (a pretty hefty chunk of $$$) from my final tally! I cannot speak to the quality of the work but I can speak to my experience trying to get a technician to my home to locate a leak and help me discuss options to fix it. During the time frame the technician was supposed to arrive for his appointment, he called me to ask what the problem was. -I said I have some sort of water leak from the roof that I would like him to locate so we can see how bad it is and what my options are. -He proceeds to tell me that probably I just need a new roof so why just repair the leak? -I said fair enough maybe I'll replace the roof soon but it's been raining so I want the leak at least temporarily fixed ASAP. -He said the minimum job he would do would be to replace my entire roof and that he would not even come to my house and look at my roof leak and discuss options after all. -I said I called your company to come out and locate a leak and discuss options to fix it. They agreed to send you to do that. Now you won't even come until I commit to replacing my entire roof? I said how can you know how much to fix the leak or the roof until you see it and examine it? -Then he hung up and wouldn't answer the phone when I called back multiple times. *These people are lazy, sales oriented, not customer-centric at all, and practically dishonest with a bait and switch approach to selling services. We got multiple quotes, LA Roofing's quote quote was competitive but not the lowest. The reason we went with this company was because Alan was the only guy who spent more than two minutes looking at our roof before he gave us the estimate. Our house is only 850 sq/ft and he must've spent a half hour measuring everything and talking us through the costs. Once we signed the paperwork all the guys came and worked their asses off. They were fast, friendly, and cleaned everything up well. One night they even stayed until 3 hours past sunset to finish sealing everything because they were worried it was going to rain the next day. Last thing - somehow during the process a beam in our attic pressed down through our ceiling. I was worried it was going to be an additional cost to repair, but extra money didn't even come up. I took a picture and sent it to Alan, he had a guy come over the next day who did an amazing job replacing the beam and patching the ceiling. Good guys, hard workers. read more
