I have fine, thinning hair, and she did such a beautiful job styling it -- it looked full, soft, and romantic. Today was my first visit to this hair salon. Teresa Hernandez just moved to this salon, and she was my cosmetologist for several years when I lived in Ventura County. Since I am in town, I made a special effort to go see her today. If you are looking for a talented and wonderful cosmetologist, look no further! Teresa is such a kind person and really listens to her clients. Her prices are very reasonable as well. The salon is very clean and has a comfortable waiting area. Safe spot to get a cut! Since salons were just given the green light to reopen it was nice to see how smoothly the La Rouge team handled the new restrictions. Called to let the salon know I arrived, everyone was wearing masks, signed a waiver and was asked to wash my hands. As for the haircut: I came in with almost 6 month since my last cut. Got a trim with Rachel. We had a great chat, she kept the length, fixed my quarantine unblended bangs, and now my hair looks so healthy! 10/10 would recommend. Glad I found my new spot. read more

Love this new salon! So bright and open and the decor is so cute! Coffee and refreshment bar along with a fun hand crafted table to sit and mingle while you wait (the owner and her husband did a beautiful job making most if not all the wood furniture, how cool is that?) Previously I lived in Santa Barbara and just recently moved back down to Simi Valley and I will continue to travel out to Ventura to have Camden do my hair. I am so excited to see La Rouge expanding their business into Nevada! Our family has used Rachel and Chaney for a number of events and the service and results are always fantastic. Our most recent event was for a relatives wedding. My hair and makeup stayed all day--well into the evening and looked amazing in pictures. I don't normally wear makeup and I was nervous about using fake lashes. However, the individual lashes they put on me were weightless and made my eyes really stand out. One day I was at a nail salon at the Ventura Marina getting a pedicure when I overheard one of the nail technicians talking to her client about how great Kristen at La Rouge Salon was. I made a mental note of the salon and the name of the woman she spoke of. A few weeks later I decided to look up the salon. I called and asked for Kristen. She was so nice on the phone and asked what I'd like done. She suggested I send some pictures of what I had in mind. Then she booked a large timeframe for me and my wants. When I walked into the salon it was spacious and decorated nicely. Kristen was inviting and upbeat. We talked a little more about what worked for my budget. She offered me a beverage and got to work transforming my hair into something much more than I expected. The highlights, the protein conditioning treatment, the scalp massage, the cut and blowout was such a treat besides the interesting conversation we had. She is such a professional and really knows her stuff. I was just there again a few days ago and I'm in love with my hair! The highlights and the cut makes me look 10 years younger. I like that she wasn't trying to up-sell me anything but she'll give doable suggestions and tips (I have drier medium-coarse hair and we were talking about ways to smooth it and keep it hydrated). Firstly , I would never go back to that stylist ever again. A hairstylist should understand the customer's needs and be mindful and the same time be skillfull. I have gotten bad haircuts before. I would tell the hairstylist what kind of a hairstyle I want. The outcome would be a Bob hair cut. I would be thinking, how did layering lead to a bloody short bob?! But coming back to what I was saying, I would definitely ask for my money back and let the hairstylist know that he or she did a sucky job. We are the paying customer, we have the upper hand. I always belief that as a paying customer, we should be know what is our money's worth. If they are mean or rude. Too bad, just write a bad review about them and they would go bust! 5 stars ISNT ENOUGH!!!! Christel is an absolute master of her craft. I walked in with a dead, dried out, frizzy mop and walked out with Golden, super model, flowing locks made for a runway. On top of the absolute magic she worked on my super thick, very long hair she showed me how to style it (I'm more of an air dry and go kinda gal) so that I can make everyday and everywhere I go my cat walk. I cannot recommend her enough!! I showed her 100 Pinterest pics of what I wanted and she interpreted my contradictory statements of what I wanted and ultimately I told her to do what she thinks would be best, and for the first time my smile, praise and repeated thanks were heartfelt instead of just trying to just get out of the chair. She made me feel super comfortable, I could feel her ease and confidence, and she is just a radiant woman in general. The entire experience from start to finish was pleasant; the salon is beautiful, the staff is kind and that head massage with the shampoo almost put me asleep. I'm a lifer now, if she ever moves I'll be flying to wherever she goes. read more

Camden is a color genius. Period. Go see her for any balayage, ombré, tortoise shell--you name it, she does it with a true gift. This review is long overdue. I have been going to Camden for over 3 years and she always comes through on whatever ridiculous Pinterest request I text her, tempered with managing my expectations with patience when I ask her for feedback on how something will look/is achievable based on the prevalent undertones and texture of my hair. She always takes the time to do the job right, never gives you the slightest sense she is annoyed or tired even when your appointment is a 4+ hours long endeavor (if your hair is thick or plentiful like mine) and is just a wonderful human being. In a little over a year, my hair has gone from a copper brown melt with serious ombré to a bleached strawberry blonde to a single process deep burgundy red and back today to what I'm calling a rose gold violet brown balayage and it stays remarkably undamaged because she knows what she is doing! Camden does a great cut, too, and is extremely reasonably priced for what you get. Go see her! read more
