Before bringing my 7-month-old Maltese in, I specifically called and spoke with Marcos. I explained that I wanted ONLY a cleanup of his face--nothing more. Marcos told me it would cost $15 and would only take a few minutes. At no point did I ask for my dog's eyelashes to be touched, trimmed, or shaved. When I dropped Pegasus off, he did have mild tear staining from allergies, which is something I've been actively managing. Instead of improving his appearance, I picked him up looking significantly worse. His eyelashes had been completely shaved off, the hair around both eyes had been clipped so closely that the skin was exposed, the redness around his eyes was noticeably worse than when I brought him in, and his left eye was squinting after the appointment. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there. When I got home, I gave Pegasus a bath and blow-dried him. That is when I discovered multiple red, raw-looking areas on his abdomen and groin that were not there before his appointment. I have included photos documenting his condition immediately after bringing him home. Looking back, I should have trusted my instincts the moment I walked into the shop. There was a strong, distinct odor of cat urine throughout the business, and there was a hairless cat freely roaming the grooming area. I ignored the red flags because I thought my puppy was only going in for a quick facial cleanup. I regret not turning around and walking right back out. Our pets are family. We trust groomers to listen to our instructions and care for our dogs as if they were their own. I gave clear instructions, and those instructions were not followed. I asked for ONLY a face cleanup, yet my puppy left without his eyelashes, with increased redness around his eyes, and with irritated areas on his body that I only discovered after getting him home. The attached before-and-after photos speak for themselves. I hope the owner takes this review seriously, addresses what happened, and improves the quality of care provided to clients' pets. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Peluche's Grooming Shop.
