I am glad I was able to check out one of PDC vegan restaurants. @falafelnessya , located 2 blocks away from the 5th Ave. meet s nice young German vegan couple dinning there , 15 years vegans. By the look of their tan seemed to be there a while. Asked them, if you only had one night in PDC. Which restaurant would you absolutely hit? They said Nessya! I talked to the cook, he said the owner is French. Interesting. The whole restaurant is falafel based. Hence the name. They have pitas. Plates. Hummus. And even a falafel burger. The pita sandwich and the hummus was so good! They also have Mexican aguas de sabores or sweet waters, I got the tamarind flavor. Definitely a recommended spot of a delicious lunch read more

This is a small falafel joint nestled into a densely populated tourist side street. I ordered the combo plate to taste a bit of everything. The plate comes with falafel, hummus, fries, pita, and chopped salad. The salad I didn't like. The elements (cabbages and lettuce) were too raw and crunchy. And there wasn't a ton of flavor too it. Parsley was not enough in this case. The hummus and falafel were tasty, but quite crude. The texture was rough on the palate in both cases. However, the flavors were well balanced enough. We went here for lunch and it was a nice break from tacos and guacamole every day. This is an extremely casual and small place (5 tables) that is super laid back and operates on manana time. I got the falafel platter that supposedly comes with "homemade chips." In fact the chips are fries (British usage) and they come frozen from a bag. It was a good falafel though, very light. The falafel here was no joke!!! It's in an area that has 4-5 different Kosher restaurants, which was great since I have Halal/Kosher dietary restrictions. I had falafel at several spots and this was hands down the best falafel out of any of the spots. The falafel were roughly $5 MXN each and they are quite small so I recommend getting 5-10 of them. I didn't have them in a sandwich, just the falafel by themselves but I'm sure a falafel sandwich would be delicious from here. I highly recommend checking this spot out! read more

I keep going back to this place because it's got a really nice vibe! The food is fresh! The guy that works there always remembers what I like for my order! They play cool music that's not too loud! I've eaten here at least twice a year ago and again today for lunch and every time the food has been consistently fresh and fantastic. We each got the pita falafel and absolutely loved them. It is great value for $ as it is a filling lunch. This place insists on providing you with a receipt (f they don't, the food is free they indicate) so they care about integrity. The lone server/preparer was pleasant. This is a tiny place with about six little tables so it can get busy but the food is worth it if you have to wait - which today we didn't at all. This is one of the few restaurants I've been to that lives up to the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence rating/seal on the window. I tend to trust Yelp reviews more. A must if you're in Playa del Carmen! I've been 3 times. My first time I went with my dog and ordered the complete plate with homemade chips, hummus, falafel, salad, and a pita. Every single thing is delicious. I went back the next day with a new friend I met on a colectivo and it was his first time eating Mediterranean food, hummus, and falafel. He loved it too. I went again today for the third time and took my dog. I did work on my laptop using the really good WIFI and checked in on Yelp to receive a free drink. I ordered the same thing every time because it is everything you need in 1 and is so good. I cannot get myself to try any place new because the food is so good, filling, and 100% vegetarian. I'm not vegetarian but I like to eat plant based as much as possible when possible. Regardless meat lovers won't regret this choice. It is VERY filling and satisfying. A must try read more

When I read about this place I had to try it when visiting PDC this July. Anyone who has visited PDC know the restaurants on Avenida Quinta are overpriced and quality of food is not worth it. I'm a vegetarian and I read a few good reviews about this place and then by chance just STUMBLED upon it! It's a tiny Falafel place that packs a big punch! I got the Falafel burger and my boyfriend got the falafel pita. BOTH great, but the falafel burger to me, was out of this world. First it was freshly made and it was HUGE! It also came with a heap o' fries, and the sesame bun that it came on was fresh. They have a salsa stand also there to put whatever kind of salsa or sauce or peppers, etc. that you want on your burger. The guy serving us could've smiled once or twice...but whatever, I'm rating the food here mainly and he did a great job preparing it. She and her husband are super sweet and fed my friend and I the best two meals that we ate in Playa del Carmen!
