With the variety of organic and vegan restaurants to choose from in Playa, this is a must try. They have an extensive menu of smoothies and salads, all of which are fantastic. The location is quite convenient as well located off the Main Street. I have tried the açaí smoothie, the guacamole, the spring rolls, and a couple other dishes. If you spend enough time down here as a tourist, you may well overindulge a night and feel a bit off the next morning. Or you may get tired of food options, which are often huge and opulent or cheap and quick, but in either event, not the healthiest of options. Or, like me, you may experience both. Well, if you do, keep this figuratively live-saving oasis in mind. Popped in here, shall we say, feeling a bit sluggish before a planned late afternoon snorkeling trip. One freshly made juice (carrot, apple, celery and ginger) and one incredibly tasty quinoa bowl (topped with a perfectly cooked poached egg) later, I felt completely invigorated and ready for action. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, and the poached egg running over the quinoa and vegetables was just a perfect mélange of flavors. My dish also came with a very tasty beet dip with carrot/celery sticks... a perfect little starter that tasted all the better for being free. In addition to basic indoor/outdoor seating for eating in, Bio-Natural features a full market area, so if you live here or are staying long-term and are enterprising enough to cook/prepare some dishes home, it is an excellent and--based on my experience--completely unique and indispensable place in this general area for healthy, vegetarian-based food options. read more

Interesting to find this place in the middle of so much carnivore culture, but everyone needs a alternative. Maria greeted us and handled our orders. She's very nice and attentive. She started us off with mango/orange/ginger shots. Omg they were so good . For appetizers we did the guacamole. For main dish, the Portobello Burger and Curry Veggies/Tofu over rice. The curry dish needed some flavor. It was missing something. Burger was proper. Came back the next day for the Nachos and the Falafel over Quinoa. Nachos we're good, Falafel was REALLY good. Perfect place for a post-workout meal and great if you're hungover after a night on 5th. Had the fitness breakfast - came with a 4 egg white scramble with vegetables and a salad. The dressing on the salad was so good, I asked the chef to buy some. Girlfriend had the Caribbean bowl and liked the açai and fruit mix in it. She tried a kombucha from the store inside and really enjoyed it. I was staying two blocks away from this lovely place, every time I went in especially towards the end of my trip I was recognized by name and had great conversations with the staff. There are two locations, and both have a great organic market with supplements, beauty products, water, kombucha and food/snacks. A lot of local products. That is what I look for when I'm traveling, that familiar friendly experience because solo travelling can be lonely at times. Let's talk about the food! If you like spicy ask for spicy if you don't it will be quite neutral. The vegan and gluten-free options are incredible, the fresh pressed juices are my favourite and it's really nice to grab a smoothie and go meditate on the beach (which is 2 minutes walk) in the morning. HORRIBLE Service... our party of six came in for breakfast and: 1) no one acknowledged us, we had to ask if it we sat ourselves, which was the case. 2) we were handed menus and English and Spanish (we are a group of blondes and brunettes) and then when the server figured out Some of us spoke Spanish, he came back and demanded (I mean DEMANDED) the menus in English back saying he needed them. Definitely come here! Locals and tourists alike visit this place to get away from all of the meat and fried food and recharge with loads of fruits and veggies. BIO-Natural carefully prepares each dish ensuring that it will be yummy! The juices are great (as are the smoothies); I highly recommend. My wife and I loved our omelettes. As good as my Pepper Omelette was, nothing can beat the incredible flavor of grilled corn and poblanos in her "omelette de rajas y elote." Great with bread or tortillas. The accompanying salads are lightly dressed and a refreshing accompaniment. A small plate of mixed fruit makes for a great appetizer or dessert! (by the way, this was our first full day in PDC, and we were worried about the ramifications of eating raw produce in Mexico, if you catch my drift... happy to report, no problems!) I've been here tons of times because I used to live around the corner and wanted to just grab a quick bite and since I'm trying to be vegan lately. I've been hooked on the prepared salads. Super fit @ Mucho Proteina are bomb! I also really love the cold pressed juices. The pitas are also very good && so are the veggie burgers. This is the place to go to when you want to eat clean in Playa! They have wonderful smoothies and a very extensive menu with vegetarian breakfast and lunch items. I love their quinoa bowls! I work for several mystery shopping companies so I'm going to give an honest review. I was not made to feel welcome from the second I walked into the restaurant because I stood for five minutes waiting at the counter for someone to acknowledge me but the staff were far too busy eating food and talking to each other at the front area of the restaurant. When a girl finally came to greet me I asked her for a table and her reply was "yeah do whatever you want" and then walked off and left me. I waited a further ten minutes to be even given a copy of the menu to see what they had on offer. The first waiter asked me what I wanted to drink and when I asked if they had cola he just walked off. Then an older woman with glasses came and said "what did you say to him?" and so I told her, then she abruptly told me that they do not sell any type of soda drinks. I ordered a tofu curry which was totally bland it was basically a curry soup with barely cooked hard vegetables and was served in one bowl and the rice was in a separate bowl and no plate was offered. How are you supposed to eat food like that? I thought that in the majority of the western world we eat with plates. The rice was hard and wet and didn't taste like rice at all, and I counted three pieces of tofu in their "curry". Their apple juice that was supposedly fresh pressed tasted like the apples were past their best before date and a little mouldy. The older lady with glasses was completely rude. Not once did she come and ask me how I was and didn't even come to ask if everything was OK with my food even though she walked past me several times. She was far more interested in checking on the man sat two tables away from me to make sure his food was OK and making conversation with him. She asked him if everything was good after each item she served him, but not one word to me. When I'd finished eating what I could the male waiter asked if I had finished. Not once did he ask me if the food was OK. I would have liked to try one of their deserts but because I was made to feel so unwelcome I don't see why I should put money in their pockets when they evidently don't possess and sort of customer service. I could easily have walked out of the restaurant without paying and they wouldn't have even noticed me as they were too busy talking and eating. What really annoyed me was when I asked for the bill it came with a suggested tip printed, circled and written on.like they actually felt like they even deserved one. I got up and left and not one of them said goodbye and.the older woman still didn't even acknowledge me. If you value good food and good customer service then this is definitely not the place to go. There are many more restaurants in PDC that offer good quality food for vegetarians and vegans. read more

Taking a wrong turn down the street turned out to be a happy accident. I spotted this place and my heart filled with joy, I walked up too the stand and glanced at the menu. The options were endless, there was plenty of vegan options to fill my soul. I decided to try the pancakes and my entourage tried the soy rizo chilaquiles. Everything was beautiful and delicious. There is a small market attached the the cafe, I bought some nopal chips from there also satisfying. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of organic/ healthy options in Playa del Carmen. Many more than in my hometown! This was our go to breakfast spot and we ate here several times. The pancakes were delicious and so filling we often would skip lunch. Both the original and berry pancakes were great. I also had the fruit bowl parfait with yogurt and granola and it was a huge size and delicious. I couldn't eat half of it so it is a great plate to share. Even the scrambled eggs were packed with flavor and better than the ones I usually order at home. We never spent more than $10 per visit. Everything is high quality and very fairly priced. When I lived in Playa del Carmen, this was just a little shop selling organic and healthy products around the corner from where I lived. Then they got a little cafe, that served healthy fresh organic and vegan/vegetarian fare and I used to go at least once a week. (being a long-time vegetarian). Finally I have returned to Playa and to my amazement have seen Bio-Natural grow into an AMAZING restaurant and shop, filled with all the healthy foods, organic & natural products, protein, apple cider vinegar, tofu burgers, raw foods, nuts and seeds...you name it. If you're health conscious or live a vegetarian lifestyle this is your place! I've been back in Playa about 2 months now and I'm pretty sure I'm here about 2x week at a minimum! Either shopping for goods or eating breakfast/lunch or dinner here! They get very busy now, so you may need to wait but it's worth it! Service staff is very nice they are always serving with a smile and ready to modify any dish to your liking as everything is made fresh to order. In fact, the wait staff got to know me quite well as I was always "the girl that can't eat cilantro nor onions!" And each and every time, they would modify my meal. I appreciated that very much. We saw this place as we were walking by and decided to grab a bite. The smoothies are excellent. They had run out of some of the ingredients for some menu items but it was Xmas day so possible they didn't get their supplies? My husbands falafel pita looked amazing. My fruit bowl with yogurt and granola was ok. We did notice a cookie scam when we were there. We watched a waitress go from table to table with a tray of small cookies offering them to patrons. Honestly they looked like samples. One couple who took a cookie was chased down the street and force to come back and pay for the cookie they ate. I've been avoiding corn and nowhere did it say that there was fresh corn mixed into the quinoa. When they brought it my only options were to pick out the corn or pay for another one. One of my favorite spot to go to in both playa del Carmen and Tulum, they have fantastic customer service and the food is superb. If you're gluten free, as I am because of an allergy, they take extra caution to make sure to keep you safe.
