Booking and check in were easy. Gina called us before the check in time and we were in our unit early (probably wouldn't have been the case during the busier season, but this was most welcome to get our two year old down for a nap on time)! The unit was clean and had everything we needed for our three days on the key: beach chairs, dishwasher and laundry soap (!), A beach umbrella, a cart to haul beach gear the short walk to the beach. We bought our child a sand bucket at Publix then found there was even one of these available in the unit! It's not fancy and the view on one side is the back of a commercial strip, but the location, convenience, and amenities definitely overshadow this. Id definitely recommend the management provide a drying rack or line for beach gear, but not a big deal. We very much enjoyed our stay and are happy we booked.

Problems with our first stay with BM (2019, 4 day stay): unacceptable pull out bed, inoperable wall clock, unable to have clean linens, and information/assets listed in the contract not provided) so we went to the office to inquire. No resolution offered. Emailed the office once home, owner responded indicating he would allow a "discount" on our next reservation due to problems/dissatisfaction. After a month of back and forth phone calls with office staff to try to find a suitable place, for desired option of dates, no discount provided on any unit under $300 a night (our original booking was $175 a night). We reached out (via email for documentation purposes) to the owner to help secure a unit around $200 a night for discount, but he mysteriously has not surfaced, 14 days and counting. Bottom line: slimy management, untrustworthy, price raping, discriminating against modest reservations. 2 stars because Minorga has a fabulous location.

On our second night there, a roach the size of a bunny rabbit was found crawling on the wall in the brides bedroom. We were immediately disgusted. Later that night, an additional four roaches were found. One in the kitchen, which was killed. One in the living room, which was also killed under magazines. And two under the bed in the brides bedroom, one alive and one dead. We immediately got in touch with the property manager Misty, but due to the late hours, we did not hear back until the next morning. Misty was informed of the disgusting situation and advised us that this same cottage has had a roach problem in the past. She told us she would contact the owner who was currently traveling, and in order for an exterminator to come spray, the cottage had to be emptied. We informed Misty we will be out all day on a boat and provided her with numerous phone numbers for her to contact with an update. She never called or followed up with anyone. We also told her that we would like to be moved, or quite honestly just leave and stay at a hotel. That night, a sixth roach was found. That was honestly the breaking point. Hotels were booked and ubers were called and we left there by 11:30 PM. We told Misty what was going on and wanted to come to an agreement of some sort of refund. Instead of responding to our calls and emails, they decided to charge us a $75 fee for "trashing" the cottage. We left in a hurry, and unopened food items were left behind. However, anything that was opened was disposed of and all the decorations were taken down. We were refunded the $75 and one nights stay, which quite honestly is not acceptable. The cottage was not livable. Not only were there 6 roaches, there were flies EVERYWHERE. Being married to an exterminator, I can honestly say that this cottage has a huge issue that is not being properly taken care of. We found multiple holes under the bed that lead to outside which is clearly where some of the roaches are coming from. Not only did we barely get responses from Misty, the owner, or booking.com, Misty also accused us of lying, putting rubber roaches all over the house, and disconnecting the WiFi. We had no idea the cottage even had WiFi and Misty admitted to not checking the cottage after the cleaning service left. Do not stay here. This place is disgusting and has a serious moisture problem.

On fri/sat nights there was a solid crowd using both. I was able to find some secluded areas with hammocks and fire pits, which I appreciated. My room had a spacious and fenced back yard with multiple tables and an umbrella. There is smoking allowed in the yards and a few times I could smell my neighbors cigarettes while outside. Not a huge deal. Stove, kitchen sink, microwave, mini fridge, and tv in my unit as well. Lots of utensils and plates in the cabinets. Only takeaways I could note that keep my review from being a perfect 5 stars - the parking situation is rough. The front lot was always full due to how small it is. The back lot is unpaved and shared with the public tiki bar. Tight lanes and cramped spaces that are flooded with drunk people leaving at night since they aren't staying at the hotel. I didn't feel my car was very safe from scratches/bumps on weekend nights. Also the unpaved lot kicked up lots of dust onto my luggage and shoes, which ended up all over the inside of my car. It's gravelly mud as well so it's stuck to my seats and floor mats. Probably was worse than usual since i was loading my luggage after a night of rain. That being said, the parking was free. So take this relatively menial issue as you will.

One major variable being availability on the key, which is not much. First off the price was right. Especially for being right on the beach on one of the famous Sarasota keys. And not only being on the beach but newly renovated and fully capable to handle a family get a way weekend. With a nice publix right down the street you can easily stock up your suite for a long weekend stay that doesn't break the bank with having to eat out every meal. The suite has a fully functional kitchen with oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, full sized refrigerator and freezer, dish washer, and cupboards stocked with some essential items for cooking and eating. This is a huge benefit for people staying for a long weekend or even longer. Not many places to eat on the key, and most of them are up there in price or not much on the menu for little ones. It also is very closely located to a fully involved Publix. So either grab some groceries for the weekend, or some cold cuts from the deli, Chinese food, or any of the many offerings Publix has. You can also bring back some meat to throw on the grill provided in the common area back at the hotel. Even though the outside looks weathered (as most beach locations do), the inside was very clean and brand new renovations made it feel fresh and new. The living room had a dining room table right next to an amazing view from the huge windows. Also a couch with pull out bed, a Murphy pull down bed, and some comfy chair recliners. The outside patio had a table and 2 nice chairs to enjoy the outside. The place even came with a washer and dryer in the unit to keep those towels and swimsuits clean and dry for all the repeat usage over your stay. The hotel also had a little pool to splash around in. Nothing too special but nice to take a quick dip in or let the kids splash around. Tables, umbrellas, and chairs provided. They also give you complimentary beach umbrellas with the sand anchors as well as lounge chairs. You can even take out some bogey boards. And being steps from the beach can't be beat. Another plus they provided complimentary large beach towels for you to use. Definitely taking some extra steps to add to the value. I guess the only knock I really had on the place was the cramped and small parking situation and the noisy conjoined door. It was not insulated well at all to block sound. Could hear the neighbors fairly clearly when they were close to the door. Lucky for us they were nice and quiet people and it didn't actually disturb us, but we are a loud family with 2 loud kids so I can only imagine how it sounded on their side. Or how our enjoyment could've changed if we did have loud people next to us. They definitely need to look to improve the sound proofing around those conjoined doors. And there also isn't a lot of bells and whistles to this place. But you go here for a nice peaceful and easy beach weekend getaway, not if you are looking for hustle and bustle. Overall it was a great little vacation, and a big part of that was staying at this suite. I feel fully confident in choosing this place again when we return, as well as recommending it to family and friends.

However, the ceiling was not aesthetically pleasing and appeared in poor repair. It was great to have a king size bed, however, it was so soft and flimsy that my husband and I had a pretty terrible time sleeping and ended up in quite a bit of back pain. Some of the windows were missing screens, so we couldn't open them without worrying about letting in the bugs and lizards, even though the weather was beautiful outside. The hot water ran out within approximately five minutes every time we tried to take a shower-- which we tried at various times of the day and night. The bathroom window was broken which made it very inconvenient since there was not a ceiling exhaust fan. For nearly $2000 for one week, we expected at minimum a comfortable bed and enough hot water for both of us to take a shower. We may come back to Anna Maria Island again someday, but we will definitely stay somewhere else. We looked up the property next-door, and it was fully renovated with its own heated pool, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms, large common areas, pool table and more for only $1000 more.

In…read morethe future I would likely go direct to book at one of the hundred of rentable accommodations in Siesta Key since I think that may save a few $. The resort itself is nicely laid out and the best part is it is about a half hour walk to the fabulous Siesta Beach and about a 1.5 mile walk to the village (or you can take the trolley). So the location is very good. The pool area is very nice as is the lounging space by the intercoastal - a great place to watch the boat traffic. They have clay tennis courts which I am sure are a plus with tennis players but worthless for pickle ball players. We only got into a few units but the views really vary from those that face east and south having a view to the pool or the intercoastal and all of the rest, especially the lower floors, looking to parking lots or the very busy main drag. I guess if you are on a high enough floor looking west or north you might see the Gulf. We were lucky to have a great view of the pool even from the east facing 2nd floor unit we rented for two weeks. Each unit is different so I cannot comment on what you might get as far as decor/features.
