This restaurant week had much more on the menu compared to some of the other ones I saw. We came as a family of 6 so we tried to order one of everything. The menu comes with 3 courses, appetizers, entree, and dessert from $60. From the appetizers I would recommend getting the Foie Gras Au Torchon, Ravioles de Royan a la Creme, and Escargots a la Bourguignonne. With the Entrees I would recommend trying the Braised Rabbit Dijonnaise. It was the most unique dish and very flavorful. It may be a bit salty for some people. From the dessert menu, they had two homemade ice cream: vanilla and banana. The banana tasted really good, no artificial bananas taste, but the vanilla was a bit bland. Had dinner here with an ex and another couple and the meal was fabulous. It's all about the experience when you're dining in NYC, in my opinion and this was a really special spot. We started off with a bunch of appetizers: the escargot of course, it was a first for me and I was hesitant but convinced and was so glad I tried it, delicious! The steak tartare was phenomenal, reminded me of the steak tartare I had at Bistro Jeanty in Napa, which is saying a lot! We had the ravioli in a truffle cream sauce and while I'm not a fan of truffle, this dish was impossible not to love. I got the pork tenderloin which really was just perfect, such a treat. The quail was really good - tender and juicy for such lean meat. The lamb was a tad gamey for my taste, but my boyfriend enjoyed it. We both really liked the poached pear with bleu cheese. Restaurant Week 2025 Review 1/many. I went back to this spot with a group recently for French Restaurant Week (which I will be shortening to RW from now on) which ran from July 7th to the 20th with both restaurants also being part of the current RW which is $60 for dinner. I had previously been to their UWS location for RW last year which was excellent and it was very similar this time though the portions have shrunk a little bit such as the foie gras but that's expected unfortunately so c'est la vie. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had a glass of white chardonnay which was good and was a pretty generous pour. They gave us some bread at the beginning which was nice and crunchy though I wish it was a bit warmer along with some olive oil with some balsamic vinegar in it. I started with the Foie Gras au Torchon served with toast as well as apple and grape confits. As described earlier, the portion has shrunk a bit with there now being one larger piece instead of two medium sized ones. The apple confit was my preference of the pairing with the texture being quite nice while the grape one was slightly too sweet. Many others had the Escargots à la Bourguignonne; which they had difficulty using the provided instruments; the Watermelon Salad, and the French Onion Soup. Having had the Filet de Bœuf Poêlé on the previous menu, I went with the Seared Hanger Steak au Poivre listed as prepared for the occasion with peppercorn brandy sauce. The steak was cooked a proper medium rare with a bit of chewiness as expected for hanger steak but not too much with plenty of flavor. The peppercorn sauce wasn't as pronounced as some other places but I honestly didn't mind this as it still had plenty of flavor with some of the zing from said black peppercorn. Outside of some greens, there was also some potato pavé on the side which was prepared nicely. On a side note, another person to not be named ordered this dish a bit past medium and it didn't come out that way. Another had what I got, two had the Filet de Bœuf Poêlé which they enjoyed and two had the Braised Rabbit Dijonnaise which they liked. The entrees all came served with fresh vegetables on the side consisting of a few pieces of roasted cucumber, squash, and chayote along with a pumpkin puree just like the other location as a portionfor two to share. All seven of us for dessert went wit the Croquant au Caramel listed as a puff pastry stuffed with vanilla Grand Marnier custard and topped with caramel. The dessert was well made with a good pastry crust and even with the amount of caramel, it wasn't super sweet. This was small but tasty and a satisfying end to a good meal. It is always nice seeing a place that doesn't seem to skimp out even if people are ordering on the RW menu. While I preferred the regular dinner options, this is an excellent way to try this restaurant especially if the general price points here are a bit too high. Same rating essentially. read more

I found myself at La Sirene at the last minute while visiting for work. I'm so happy I did. La Sirene felt like a traditional place that values the customer, the food and tradition. For the customer, they were flexible about which table I selected and thought about the food for which wine I selected. The food was excellent (I had the filet au poivre which came with an assortment of vegetables. The broccolini was served as just tips which made the dish feel special. The wine and cocktail list is nice, beer drinkers will find just 2 options. The complimentary bread is served with EVOO and house-made balsamic. We started with beef tartare and pears with bleu cheese. Both were delicious. Entrees were duck in a cherry jus, accompanied by a plate of 4 vegetable selections. It was tender and perfectly cooked. The gnocchi Parisienne are actually cauliflower based and incredibly light and fluffy. The Gruyère and béchamel sauce is decadent. Servers were sweet and attentive. Best foie gras I have ever had, including in France! If you're a fan of foie gras, or just wanting to try it out, this is the place to go (and spend the extra $$ on the seared foie gras!!) It was warm, melt in your mouth, absolutely deliciousness. We also got the steak tartare and escargot for apps and they were good but the foie gras was by far the star of the show. For entrees, we got the duck breast, seared hanger steak, and the braised rabbit, which were all good (hanger steak was my favorite). If you have a heavier palate and enjoy bursts of flavor, I would perhaps avoid the rabbit as it was on the lighter side for taste profile. We booked this French restaurant since we missed France and wanted to try the French food scene in NY (which is not so great in the Bay Area) ... and well La Sirène surely didn't disappoint! We were greeted by the owner himself. I was happy to see that he spoke French, since I speak fluent French myself! He had a restaurant in Paris before moving to New York. I knew already that this was going to be a great meal. Onto the food. For apps, we got the French onion soup and the ravioli. The ravioli sauce was the perfect creamy texture paired nicely with some truffle oil. The onion soup was very flavorful but could definitely tell that it is vegetarian broth based, not beef. The cheese is very melted with just the right amount of bread, and you can definitely taste the smoky burnt flavor on the top of the cheese (which is a plus for me but not everyone likes that flavor) - a solid 4/5 for just the soup (as rated by my girlfriend who is a French onion soup enthusiast). For main course, we got the Filet Mignon topped with a thin slice of Foie Gras. It was simply delicious. Paired with the perfect sauce (slightly on the fruity side, really balanced out the heaviness of the foie gras). We also got the Hangar Steak which is a recipe I've never had before. Quite unique with the grilled garlic (a lot of it!). Just a bit oily but we didn't mind it. The food also came with a plate of veggies. the owner definitely put a lot of thought into the menu and his customers - they do say amex only for credit cards but they are flexible if you just talk to them! We asked for the restaurant week menu since they handed us the regular menu. They were very polite. We were originally going to get the house Bordeaux but the waitress said that the Cabernet Sauvignon was much better so we took her up on it. She was right the wine was fantastic and paired very well with the steaks. My husband was kind enough to let me have both appetizers and he got both desserts. I got the foie gras and the escargot. The foie gras was buttery and really did melt in my mouth. The sweetness of the apple and grape confits complemented the saltiness of the foie gras. The bread added a different texture to the dish. The escargot was the most tender snails I've ever had. Unfortunately, it didn't taste like much even with the sauce. Our main dish were the hanger steak and the filet mignon. We asked for medium rare and they were cooked to perfection. The meat was a little tough. Both sauces were very good and we used the bread to soak up the remaining sauce. My husband had both the choux chantilly which was puff pastries and the croquant au caramel which had a hard candy shell with spun sugar on top. He said they were both very good. The service was great. They were attentive. When we finished the bread, they brought more. They kept filling our water glasses whenever it was low. There's a 5% discount if you pay cash. La Sirene will always be our favorite French restaurant in NYC. Let me lay out all the reasons why: Service - 5* Marty is what I would call the perfect waiter. He's friendly, easily to talk to, and provided exceptional service to ensure we had a wonderful dining experience, from cleaning up the bread crumbs to checking-in to see if we like our food, to simply having a pleasant conversation that wasn't too abrupt or too long, it was simply enjoyable and heartwarming. If I had a restaurant of my own, Marty is the type of server I wish I could hire. The other waiters are also exceptional and friendly as well! Ambiance - 4* The restaurant is indeed very beautiful and warm, but some of the tables are very small; although it provides an intimate experience, it sometimes felt as if our food overwhelmed the table and made it a bit tight. The seating is also kind of too close, where we felt as if we were dining with the table next to us. However, I'm sure a little rearranging can fix this issue with no problem! Food - 5* Escargot - consistently fresh and tasty, with a perfect blend of garlic, butter, and parsley! The sauce remaining paired beautifully with the complimentary bread so remember to save some of the bread! It is a bit pricy though, averaging around 4 dollars per piece. French onion soup - crispy cheese adding a pleasant bite to the soup! Very flavorful and the different textures are beautifully interwoven, providing a delightful and heartwarming experience! The breadcrumbs also provide a very playful crunch that enhanced the entire dish as well! If you get this, chances are you're guaranteed to be full, so be careful you don't over order! This dish used to be served to warriors, so that's just a little fun fact that also made me love this dish more! A perfect winter dish! It's a solid French place! Pretty small and doesn't have a lot of tables to sit at - really feels like restaurants in France in that way. The menu includes the chef's notes for almost each food item, it's very cute! We got to foie gras au torchon as an appetizer that was pretty good and the hanger steak for entree. Hanger steak was pretty small in size but tasted good. I didn't love their house wine personally but it was well priced. Service was fairly quick. Honestly, we loved the appetizers/first course the best, and things went a little downhill from there. The entrees were small portioned and the desserts were the most disappointing. Despite their names and what they seemed like, they were not that special ): We thought that we would have left with a better impression if we had skipped dessert. I often crave for foie gras , northern spanish , basque style ( grilled ) and there's only one place that I go to to satisfy my craving . I normally get the steak with foie and truffle sauce . Great French restaurant in Soho that has a homey ambiance and a pretty informative menu explaining different aspects of the restaurant and their food. Depending on the day (or season) the place inside may seem cozy but other days it may seem cramped. We went during a cold and rainy day so it was a bit cramped when we had to find space for coats and umbrellas. Seating was a bit tight but still doable. The food was great. The mussels are a solid 10/10 and the creole broth is hearty with the pieces of chorizo adding extra depth. The duck breast was amazing and the pork tenderloin was tender with a capital T. Both entrees were delicious and we had to save room for dessert. The banana pudding looks like a creme brûlée at first glance but is in fact not a creme brûlée...it's a banana pudding masked as a creme brûlée so you get two desserts in one...this one was extremely creative. I was so excited to try the food because of its great ratings and the fact that they serve french food, but it seemed like there was something missing in each dish. I came for restaurant week, tried the escargot and pate for appetizers. The escargot had good flavor but it was a little too salty. The pate was very weird in texture, almost like eating a meatball. For the main course I tried the rabbit and the duck. The duck was fine but I could not understand why the rabbit was such a hit. There was nothing much to the flavor, and just felt like I was eating bland chicken. It was also very busy that day which resulted in the meal taking 2 hours to eat, with very long breaks between the appetizer and the main. I would assume that they would know how to handle the high volume, so I thought the food came out really slow.
