They recently started offering the Dame Summer Club fish sandwich (IYKYK) as part of their brunch menu, which motivated me to make a reservation for a Saturday. My boyfriend and I shared: + Red shrimp carpaccio + bluefin tuna + Peekytoe crab agnolotti + fried fish sandwich + Rhum cake with grilled pineapple and butterscotch Wowwwww what a flawless lunch. It was perfect bite after bite and I honestly can't pick a favorite, though the pasta, sandwich and dessert were definitely standouts. The service here is absolutely horrendous, as someone who has worked in the industry, I get it, people have bad days, but wow I have never been so offended. I come in with my family for my brother's birthday. As we're waiting on the last member of our party of 5, we place an order for a few small plates and round of drinks. Once everyone is here we are chatting, enjoying ourselves, looking over the menu, ordering more drinks. We begin ordering the full meal with our server - it's 5 of us, we had already had 2 small plates, and we proceed to order 3 more small plates and 3 big plates planning to all share. The server immediately turns cold and says "Thats's it?! You barely ordered anything that's definitley not enough." Treated us like we were the dumbest people in the room. Initially I was thinking maybe she forgot we had already had a few dishes, and generally we aren't a starving bunch, so we asked if we could just start with this and see how hungry we are after, she says no (which fair, I know many restaurants want the full order at once to time everything but the tone is so rude) so we apologized and said we'd take another look at the menu. All of us were actually stunned. The disrespect in her tone was astounding. We end up ordering another large plate but were still hesitant to order too much more and she actually ended up back tracking and saying we could always order more later. Weird. We also order another round of drinks with this. Half the drinks come with the first round of dishes dropped on the table and then food starts coming. Our server isn't to be seen for 45 minutes meanwhile we're still waiting on half of our drinks. When she finally comes back around we checked in on the other half of our drinks, no apologies just leaves and someone else comes back with the rest of our drinks. Barely saw her for the remainder of our dinner, super bizarre and underwhelming service. All this said, I actually enjoyed the food. My favorites included the shrimp carpaccio, mushrooms, tuna over potato, and for someone who doesn't love lamb I enjoyed the ribs. However, the food was not good enough at this price point to justify the poor poor service we received. I will not be returning. read more

One of the most disappointing meals we've had. We had an amazing meal at Dame and were so looking forward to eating here. They posted a dungeness crab special on their IG, so I immediately made a reservation. We asked our waiter about the special right when we sat down, and he told us that they weren't serving it that night. We were so sad, but still hopeful for the other menu items. We couldn't decide on the raw starters and our waiter told us that we would get each in the petite plateau. We ordered a double order so we would each get a bite. When the platter arrived, it didn't look like the items on the menu. We asked the server (different from our original waiter) what the items were and they were completely different from the menu items. It was a generic seafood platter with the smallest oysters, clams, overcooked shrimp cocktail and some scallop crudo. We asked to speak to our waiter because this isn't what we wanted. Another waitress came over to check on us and we told her we thought the raw starters on the menu came in the petite plateau and she told us no they do not. If we had known, we wouldn't have ordered it. We decided to keep it because we were honestly hungry. But definitely disappointing that we never saw our original waiter and there was no service recovery at all. Especially since this is not a cheap meal. After that start, the rest of the meal was forgettable. There wasn't a dish that stood out. Again, so disappointing that this is the sister restaurant to Dame. Came for dinner after new years, party of 4 at around 6:30 pm on a weekend and the place was already packed. This restaurant has been here for 11 months. Had the tortilla and the endive salad as an appetizer, but they erroneously gave us the fennel salad instead (which was way too much vinaigrette) -- they comped us for the same. We informed the waiter and the endive came later, which was much better. We also had churros to start our dinner, while it was nice and hot the churros was under done and could've stayed in the fryer for another 30 seconds. I had the arroz negro which was good (had squid, little neck clams, potato, some fish with black rice) but on the saltier side. The boss had the bouillabaisse -- good that it was not so very tomato-ey acidic but well balanced and textually silky. Others had the Catalan meatballs and the chicken (with a big plate of shoestring fries). Had a taste of the chicken and it was decent but slightly overpriced for $40. We were all full at the end but ordered the soft serve to try and that was very good. Overall, the space is big and inviting, and they did a good job renovating -- although we sat right next to the entry door and the freezing cold was a nuisance now and then. Had a bottle of the house cava (Berth) which was not all that. Service was fairly good with water refill and plating and change of silverware. This is a big dining room -- which can open into the plaza/sidewalk on 6th in the summer time and is inviting, but the noise inside can be a bit deafening. The lighting is also very dark. I noticed other tables also using their phones to read the menu. Staff were good enough to bring a little lamp for our table. Overall, the price point is competitive to other restaurants in the West Village, but the quality of the food can stand some improvements here and there. Reilly and I went to Crevette on a Thursday in July because, tragically, we were still in Manhattan. Everyone else was in Sag Harbor or Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat--why am I providing geographical context like I'm writing for people who think Positano is a yoga pose? The only dignified response to mid-summer abandonment is martinis and tactical judgment. I wore a black silk Khaite slip that clung like commitment issues and humidity, refusing to decide which was worse, a Rolex 1680 Red Sub (if you know, you know, and if you don't, this isn't your first bonus Datejust), the Kelly 28 in Rouge H, and Manolo Chaos sandals that clicked like audible credit scores. Reilly, radiant and ruthless in equal measure, looked like she'd been photographed by Slim Aarons and somehow ended up slumming it in SoHo anyway. Crevette was dense with men who looked solvent from the wrist up and catastrophic from the waist down. Half wore rumpled linen they called "resort wear," the other half still in office chinos pretending they'd "just stepped away from the desk." The bar was a terrarium of finance in seasonal depression--every third man "between mandates" or "incubating a climate tech thesis," which is Wall Street for "unemployed but LinkedIn-optimized." One attempted to explain compound interest to Reilly like she hadn't been compounding her own advantages since birth; she ordered another martini and said, "Sweetie, I *am* the interest," which terminated both the conversation and, I suspect, his entire summer. The martinis were glacial and properly briny, not a muddled cucumber or elderflower abomination in sight. The oysters tasted like the Platonic ideal of bivalves, the frites like original sin with saffron aioli. It's a 4.8 for the bar program, a 2.1 for the dating pool, and an eternal 5 for the air conditioning, which ran like it had something to prove. Crevette is where you go when you're not in the Hamptons and refuse to pathologize that as failure. As we left, Reilly announced, "If I'm not on a yacht by August, I'm getting a better therapist and worse standards." The chicken and bluefin tuna potato were standout dishes. the seafood rice, oysters, and rum cake were also delicious. The Niçoise salad was a little too drenched in dressing for me, same with the sashimi. The fig galette was also good, but I would've preferred if it was more mixed with the crust. I like that for many of the apps, you can order however many pieces you want; accommodating many group sizes. The theme for our night was a series of small plates to test the waters (punny considering it's a seafood spot) ;) The service was kind, curious and friendly. They start you off with some complimentary Spanish olives. Here's the rundown of the rest: - Chilled Mussels topped with Salsa Brava (5/5) - a perfect one biter with a luscious topping. Delicious and gone too fast!! - Sicilian Sashimi (5/5) - another banger! The half portion came with two sashimi pieces of each - salmon, tuna, yellowtail and scallops poached in olive oil, with garnishes of chopped onion, lemon (zest maybe too?), and capers. Get this! - Fennel Salad (4/5) with a sweet and sour vinaigrette, mint leaves, chopped dates and chunks of pecorino was a refreshing summer salad. Had it been a little less sweet, this was a 5/5. Regardless, this was really enjoyable! - Merguez and Morcilla Skewer (4.5/5) - first time trying blood sausage and it was better than expected! This came with two chunks of a lamb sausage and two of blood sausage separated with slices of grilled onions. Get it if you like the sound of it, you won't go wrong. I've walked by Crevette many times and finally had the chance to go with friends this past weekend. It's perhaps best known as the sister restaurant to Lords in Greenwich. The space reminded me of Frenchette--intimate, with a low-lit, cozy ambiance. Service was excellent. everyone was attentive and welcoming. The food was delicious overall, but the tuna potato was one of the best bites of the night. The crab agnolotti and arroz negro (essentially a paella) were standouts as well. Crevette is a recent seafood restaurant in West Village that very much fits WV aesthetics though a bit more upscale. The restaurant has a large, welcoming dining room with warm colors, tall windows and open and intimate tables. There is also a nice bar with many seats. The staff were welcoming and helpful for food and drink selections. There were regulars dining as well and I loved the banter and positive vibes between them. Even with me there for my first time, the bartenders engaged with me as easily. I went with one dish from each menu group - oysters (choice of east and west coast) with sauce - very good taste. Next was tuna on potato - it was so tender and had so much umami I almost thought I was eating toro. For main I got the dover sole this was covered w/ truffle, paired with spinach, brown butter sauce w/ capers. This was so delicious with the brown butter complimenting the dover sole and spinach adding texture contrast as well as capers. The truffle I felt didn't really add anything but I think it's a personal thing with me and truffles. For dessert I got the rhum cake - so sweet, moist, crunchy crust, and cream to balance the sweetness. We had the red shrimp carpaccio, the grilled wild mushroom (with egg yolk and pate), the fennel salad, and the seafood rice. For dessert, we tried the rhum cake. Red shrimp carpaccio was pretty good. Mushrooms were tasty but I don't really think they cooked the pate in a way that complemented the mushrooms. Fennel salad was tasty, very light but flavorful. Seafood rice was way too salty, but they had the flavoring down. If i could eat only one thing here again, it would be the rhum cake. They really outdid themselves with that one! Crevette was first brought to my attention by one of my brothers after he saw it on social media as a hot new place to eat in the city. The menu looked good, and we thought it would be a good place to meet up at for dinner - that being said, we made plans one weeknight to go check it out. Crevette is the third restaurant by a husband-wife duo who are also behind Dame and Lord's; I haven't been to either of these so this is truly a new experience for me. When I say this restaurant is new, I mean it's *new* new - we visited at the start of their third week in business and a reservation was a little tricky to come by. Most open tables were only available late (like 10pm), but I got lucky and snatched a 5pm right when they opened. The restaurant is decently sized with a somewhat upscale aesthetic- the white tablecloths, low lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows on the back wall add to the feel. The menu contains mostly French cuisine with an emphasis on seafood, with each section separated by dish size going from small bites to larger format dishes. We decided to share most of the dishes and got a couple from each section. For our "apps" we got the octopus and green harissa skewers, Spanish tortilla, and rock shrimp and basil skewers. All of these were really good - my favorite was tortilla which was topped with crab and stuffed with potatoes. The fitters were also a standout, especially the basil ones which were made with anchovies that provided a salty flavor (in a good way). For our mains we opted not to share and I went with the seafood rice. This was presented in a small pan and prepared with razor clams, lobster, and saffron. The dish was great - lots of flavor with just the right amount of seafood and well-prepared rice. We opted for dessert and chose the lemon tart and poachd pears. The tart needs a little work - good flavor but it wasn't set and as such was kind of liquidy. The pears were better - they were paired with mascarpone and everything worked well together. Service was good, everyone was friendly and we always felt taken care of throughout our meal. Overall, I think Crevette is off to a good start; the food is tasty, but I wouldn't call it amazing - though they still may be getting their footing. All style and greasy substance. In a neighborhood of stylish, trendy restaurants catering to a mostly white, mostly affluent clientele, Crevette....does not stand out. In fact, it's distinctly subpar. - Poached Pink Shrimp, Aïoli & Calabrian Chili: Don't let the fancy words fool you. It's $5 per piece of boiled shrimp slighlty larger and plumper than your average shrimp. The accompanying sauces were just aiight. - Rock Shrimp & Basil Fritters: Greasier than a 14yo's forehead. Don't get me wrong, I love me a good fritter. But the batter was dripping in oil, and even the fragrance of the individual basil leaves couldn't make up for the gross feeling in my mouth after a while. Plus, the portions were teeny-tiny. - Petit Aïoli of Winter Vegetables & Skate Cheeks: Crunchy veggies and one small fried chunk of fish. Also too greasy. And too salty. The aioli also felt nauseatingly rich. - Spanish Tortilla with Peekytoe Crab & Seaweed Butter: Creative and delicious. If only they'd applied this same prowess and technique to our other dishes. - Grilled Wild Mushrooms, Egg Yolk & Foie Gras: Tasty but tiny. There was barely any foie gras. - Fresh Tagliatelle with a Cassopipa of Bay Scallops, Mussels & Clams: Remember when appetizer prices were in the teens? Now it's $26 for an app that's portioned like an app. Like this app, which was well-cooked but generally too unremarkable to justify the price tag. We stopped by Crevette in the West Village to see if we could move our reservation, and the staff was so accommodating--they were able to switch us to an earlier time right away. We were seated in a cozy corner booth, which ended up being the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner. Service throughout the night was excellent. Our server was attentive, warm, and always on top of things without feeling intrusive. The food overall was good. The Little Gem Salad was fresh and flavorful--simple but really well done. The Lobster Tagliatelle was rich and tasty, with great texture on the pasta. The Dover Sole had nice flavor, but it was a bit too buttery for us; it would've been much better with a lighter hand on the sauce. We ended with dessert, and both treats were enjoyable--the soft serve sundae was fun and nostalgic, while the chocolate tart was rich and deep in flavor. On our way to Crevette I told my partner that we were in for a five-star meal. I am giving Crevette this rating not because I need to be right, but because it is truly deserving. Start to finish, our meal here was impeccable, with equally great service, drinks, and food. A seafood-forward menu will draw me in immediately, and this one is borderline overwhelming because of how extensive it is. Much to my dismay I still have not been to Demo or Lord's, so I can't compare Crevette to its siblings as I see others have, but it's always helpful for you to have a variety of perspectives. Improbably, I snagged a 9:15pm reservation for two on a Saturday night thanks to Resy notify and my quick-trigger thumbs (if you stay ready, you don't have to get ready). Like the food menu, the space here is much larger than most West Village restaurants. The decor is elegant and tasteful, with the art providing some fun pops of color and whimsy amidst a neutral-forward palette. For drinks, we took advantage of the cocktail menu, which offers a list of lesser-known classics, most of which I happen to love. Before ordering, I asked our server if the drinks were made with the typical ingredients/specs or if there were any special twists to them, to which they replied that it was the latter. To start, I got the Bijou (Tarragon Gin, Green Chartreuse & Sweet Vermouth) while my partner got the White Negroni (Gin, Cocchi Bianco & Suze), both of which were delicious and exactly what we were in the mood for. He then got the Hanky Panky (Gin, Sweet Vermouth & Fernet Branca) given his love for Fernet, while I excitedly ordered the Trident (Aquavit, Cynar & Amontillado Sherry) because I love aquavit and was thrilled to see it featured in this negroni-style variation. Food-wise, there is a strong emphasis on seafood, with just about every kind of preparation you can think of and then some. We sampled as much as we could with stomachs that do unfortunately have their limits. One nice thing for folks like us who like to try a lot is that a number of menu items are more bite-sized and canape-like and are priced as such, so what may seem like a ton of courses is actually not a crazy amount of food. Anyway, we got a mix of seafood and veggies with one non-seafood dish that came highly recommended. Everything was some version of stellar. Eats, below: Red Shrimp & Uni Tartare: A+ An absolute knockout to start our meal. Yes, it's a lot of money for such a tiny dish, but I'd rather a few spoonfuls of heaven than a big plate of mediocre. The delicate, silky shrimp and truly decadent uni will have you attempting to make this last forever. The octopus was cooked perfectly and the harissa complemented it beautifully. Florence Fennel, Mint & Pecorino Salad: A+ I'm sure the Caesar here is good, but if you want something more unique and you're a fan of fennel, you must order this. Light, aromatic, simple yet very impressive. Grilled Wild Mushrooms, Egg Yolk & Foie Gras: A+ This dish is as savory and decadent as it gets. As rich as the fennel salad is light, yet just as amazing in a totally different way. A new addition to the Village with hard to make reservations but when I was there, it didn't seem too busy. The space was large and there was ample space between the parties. I was not the biggest fan of the Crevette t-shirts that the waitstaff was wearing as it felt contradictory to the ambiance and the pricier menu. We each got a blue fin tuna which was 8 dollars a piece. We split the Peekytoe crab agnolotti with spring peas and green garlic which was delicious. Lastly, we tried the seafood rice with saffron, razor clams and lobster. It was a relatively small portion with very little seafood for 38 dollars. I would've preferred paying more for a heartier version. Overall, the vibes felt incongruent to the price of the menu. However, a few hits like the agnolotti. We tried the red shrimp carpaccio, the octopus, the mussels brava, the bluefin tuna, the wild mushrooms with egg, yolk and foie gras, the agnolotti with peeky toe crab, sashimi, clams, the lamb ribs, the seafood rice, and the fior di latte! it's safe to say we had a bunch of items on the menu and everything was superb but there were so many more items on the menu that I would love to try for next time. My favorites of this visit were the shrimp carpaccio, the bluefin tuna, and the seafood rice. The bluefin tuna and the seafood rice were actually so good that we ordered them twice! We sat at the bar for our first time at Crevette, with Brooks and Franny behind the bar. They were warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about both the food and drinks--offering smart pairings and thoughtful suggestions throughout the evening. We shared a few small plates to sample the creative seafood dishes, then finished with the chicken entrée, which was excellent. This was excellent. The tuna, sashimi, and Spanish tortilla in particular are definite re-orders. We loved the seafood rice but there are also other entrees I'd like to try. We also loved the agnolotti, octopus skewer, and butter beans. We'd probably skip the soft serve next time. read more

WOW. Food AMAZING. Service AMAZING. I texted the restaurant saying I would be late to my reservation and they said they would hold the kitchen open so I could order my food. Truly top tier service. The food was also super good. Their rib eye was so delicious, my boyfriend ate the entire thing. The fries are insane and the sauce is so delish. Definitely will be coming back here, it is a great lunch spot! read more

To start off, what an amazing space. A little moody but not too serious. Bathroom is eclectic. Staff is very helpful and personable. I do, however, have three suggestions to better the customer experience: 1. The entrance is a little confusing. Maps shows it as being in the middle of the block, which it's not. It's right in the corner and the door is not where you would expect it to be. There are some instructions on the windows, but they aren't as clear as they could be. I think it would be good to re-think the signage to make sure customers can easily find the entrance. 2. While the open flame candle is fun, it's a crazy hazard. While I was there, I definitely think someone may have burnt their hair. I'm lucky I noticed that it was an open flame in time because if I hadn't, I swear I would've accidentally burnt my menu. 3. The seating is low, which is fine, but I had a long coat, and it dragged a little on the floor. Maybe consider incorporating a coat check or just a 'at your own risk' coat rack for customers. Now, on to the food: amazing, remarkable - this is a place you MUST try. I started with the margarita which was lovely. I was part of a party of 2 and I think this place emphasizes ordering a bunch of small things versus your own individual entrees. 1 Bluefin tuna on crispy potato - Sooooo good. Such simple flavors but they paired together so well. 2. Red shrimp carpaccio - From a technical standpoint, I had no idea you could cut shrimp that thinly. That alone was really impressive! I loved the addition of the lemon rinds which added an element of sweetness. Really cool dish. 3. Rock shrimp and basil fitters - Just so you know, they're fried separately, not mixed together. Never had basil fritters before and I was very impressed. Everything went together really well. The dipping sauce was very herby. I would implore that they also offer a spicier sauce. I think that would be fun. 4. Lamb ribs - Our waiter told us this was a brand-new addition to the menu and specifically asked us for our feedback on it. We loved it. Only complaint may be that it was a little salty but along with its accompaniments, that was toned down a bit (I am my mother's child, however, so I tend to just put up with overly salted things here and there). Each element was amazing. Even when your lamb is done, you can't help but keep picking at the piperade. 5. Fries - Delicious. I love a skinny fry. And I love that I get to add another outstanding fry to my list. 6. Poached pears - Would I get this again? No. BUT, if you're someone who just appreciates the art of food, I would really recommend trying this. It is such a fascinating dish. The mascarpone is not sweet. The pears are not sweet. The sweetness seemed to come from the olive oil (?) and the pears, funny enough, were reminiscent of tomato. We just kept breaking it down element by element, combining different parts to see what they would do to the overall flavor and just repeating that cycle. Very interesting dish! I loved my time at Crevette. I know they're new and I have a few little nitpicks, but overall, what a wonderful restaurant. If you plan on visiting, make a reservation, and don't hold back - order a couple different dishes! Very much looking forward to returning! read more

Crevette is from the husband/wife duo behind Dame and Lord's. It's another stunner, completing the trifecta of delicious restaurants in lower Manhattan. I went last night, on the first night they were open to the public. I really didn't detect any serious flaws with food or service. The restaurant itself is quite spacious and absolutely stunning inside - it really does feel like you're in a restaurant in the South of France. I particularly loved the framed photo of umbrellas next to the bar. The bathrooms are also super cute and worth using. Crevette is primarily a seafood restaurant but there are plenty of items for non seafood eaters. I ordered two poached pink shrimp [$5 each], a blue fin tuna on crispy toasty [$8 each], and the octopus and harissa skewer [$10 each] for my appetizer. I appreciate I could build my own "raw bar" experience basically. I really loved the blue fin tuna, the crispy potato was especially crispy. I also really enjoyed the octopus, it can be hit or miss if it's not cooked properly. For my main entree, I ordered the duck kebab [$32]. This was an absolutely stunning dish. I loved the spices that the duck was made with and the piperade, a type of tomato sauce, was slightly sweet which balanced out the duck nicely. The absolute hit of the night for me was the choux tarte tatin [$15]. I know Crevette is a seafood establishment but I think I need to come back for the choux alone. I've never seen a choux bun made so perfectly before, with that nice crispy top and the airy inside. It was such a great play on a traditional tarte tatin. Lastly, I had a margarita [$18] which was also delicious. Shoutout to the bartenders who were really on their game last night. One bartender in particularly really guided me to order the right amount of dishes. I wish the Crevette team nothing but success. $121 after tax and tip. read more
