Do not let your home warranty company send these people. They are professional scammers. First technician came out May 19, confirmed the compressor was broken, promised a report, and never sent one. We had to chase Fidelity ourselves after a week and a half of silence. June 2, the owner Arthur shows up unannounced for a second inspection on the same unit. He never introduces himself, just barks "AC" when I ask who he is, and proceeds to talk down to us the entire visit. We were not supposed to have another inspection, I informed him we were only awaiting a report from his company, he dismissed me and demanded to know where the unit was. Then it gets worse. He demands to know where "the owners" are. We tell him we're the owners. He looks us up and down and asks TWICE "Are you sure you're the owners and not the renters?" We are people of color. We own a beautiful home in a nice part of LA. He was visibly in disbelief and I asked him directly: "Is there a reason you believe I can't be the owner?" He changed the subject. He then accused us of tampering with the unit over a fuse, BUT HIS OWN PHOTO EVIDENCE of texts between him and his employee PROVED it was untouched immediately after the first inspection. We explained the fuse was temporarily moved a week after their inspection by a professional to trial and error an issue on our upstairs unit. This was well within our rights to do regarding the warranty claim because WE ALREADY HAD AN INSPECTION, AND HIS COMPANY TOLD US THE COMPRESSOR WAS BROKEN. Also literally all of our contractors are licensed. He waved off me, my husband, our licensed HVAC contractor, and general contractor -- all people of color -- like we were beneath him, and stormed off to the compressor stating "I don't need to hear anymore." I confronted him on his behavior and that he needed to be more respectful, he became quiet and inspected the unit. After his inspection, he told us just as his employee had, that the compressor was blown. He also mentioned this had no relation to the fuse. HE THEN INSTEAD called the warranty company and told them an unlicensed contractor had caused the damage and THEY SHOULD DENY THE CLAIM because all we had was a dirty filter and the fuse was the issue!!! The warranty company also found his story suspicious and assigned us a new vendor. If yours tries to send LA Standard, show them this review along with all the others and demand a different vendor. Not only did we prove to Fidelity we only had licensed work done, we are reporting LA Standard to the BBB and are not afraid to file a suit if needed because we are 100% in the right in the face of this scammy company. read more

1 Star is even good. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!! We contracted through our home insurance, the tech spent 2 minutes on property after taking over a week to come -- told me compressor was broken. Report due in 24 hours -- took 4 days to get report in after I called multiple times, emailed and texted. The tech changed in the report to having the issue be "rodent" when the area is chicken wired and that's not the root cause. Hired a third-party, highly reputable HVAC company for a second opinion and the "eaten wires" are from sun damage which is very common. Email responses too several days, but not clear. No responses to phone calls. Never showed up. If these guys get sent to you by your Home Warranty Company you are screwed. They will be nice enough when scheduling an appointment, but then not give any notice before they show up in the 5 hour window. Then they will take multiple days to send the report to the warranty company. They won't tell you what is wrong, but just eventually send the warranty company a report. They will then find a way to file the report so that your item is not covered. For mine, they broke a piece on the unit, and then said it wasn't covered because that is not "wear and tear." The company is 100% fraudulent and if they get sent you, it's not good. The value is horrible and they are in the back pocket of these home warranty plans to try to deny claims. Sent photos a week in advance and they spontaneously decided to cancel the afternoon before our scheduled appt saying I needed a plumber and wouldn't do the work even though I had already made arrangements to take off work and have been in contact with LA Standard several times over the week. Eastern European scam artist special! They will show up quickly but they will also spend 5 minutes on inspection and will tell you one problem then report a different one to the home warranty company - and it will something that is not covered and probably not even broken. They will drag their feet every step of the way and not return or answer calls. The voice mail for the business number does not even identify as a business. They are likely charging less to home warranty companies to get a larger volume of inspections to charge for (that's why they get any work) but they will charge you for items not covered for maximum payout. My warranty company has sent this vendor to deal with Heating/Cooling systems in my home. I called them directly as soon as I placed a request for the AC (mind you they had come for the exact same thing earlier in the year but outside of the 6 wk window). I was told they would call back when they have the information they need. It took 10 days to hear from them. My Compressor is on the roof of a three story building. you have to coordinate with the building manager and with my nextdoor neighbor so they can allow the vendor to get on the roof through the adjacent unit. LA Standard just didn't show up. multiple people had taken off work to make this happen. On another day the technician said he was not allowed to go through another home. I called and spoke with a supervisor who said he was familiar with my unit having worked on it less than 6 months earlier. He also mentioned that they had done a temporary fix that time!!! Home warranty sent them to me with a service charge of $100 (that's another scam for another day). After inspecting the issue, they said home warranty won't cover my issue, but they can at the price of $700. My gut instinct was "this doesn't sound right." I called someone else and a different HVAC tech came out the next day. Found the issue, told me there's no way this was a $700 job. If anything, it could be done for $20 with parts at Lowe's. I am a renter and CANNOT get these people to call back. My insurance co (from landlord) has done everything on their end. The phone number doesn't even have a 'Hello this is LA Standard'. The tech came and left within 5 minutes and I've been battling for 3 weeks to get them to do what they need (paper work) on their end for our replacement AC unit. It was easy to get everything scheduled, including pick up of the HVAC unit, crane rental, and city permits necessary to do the repair. Came home to find the AC blowing hot air. Put in a service request with our Home Warranty company and George called within an hour for a next day appointment. About an hour later that same day, he was in the neighborhood and came by even though it was dark. All systems were fine and he told me to call him back if any issues. Next day, it went out again. Big mistake as there was little to no tune up or examination of the unit and interior components before the technician started to list things needing maintenance with the unit. Overall not a pleasant experience and it was high sales tactics. Ended up spending over $300 in refrigerant that was not needed. Our warranty company, AHS, sent these guys out to our home. In order to get out of doing the work, they LIED to our insurance company by claiming we were "missing a safety switch and a pump". Attached here is proof that our A/C unit has both of these items. We only found out what they "determined" after they left our home. They will write anything to the insurance company to close the work order without doing the work because they get paid to come out, but don't get paid as much as they apparently want to do a larger job with an insurance company. LA Standard was dispatched by my Home Warranty company (First American) to look at my heater. Dispatch was relatively quick, but the time between the original service call and the actual repair was way too long for the dead of winter. Even after the waranty company okayed the requested repairs LA Standard never called me, never picked up or returned my calls, and it took me calling my warranty company to get in touch with them. Then LA Standard tried to charge my warranty company a few hundred dollars in optional services - all before they even called me. It took a few weeks in winter to replace parts that were less expensive than the service call. Overall pretty disappointed and wouldn't recommend them if given the option. read more

They originally came out on a home warranty claim, and quickly diagnosed a complicated issue with our A/C. The issue was not covered under our warranty, unfortunately. And the warranty company was a disaster to work with, for both them and us. So we asked them for a quote to work direct, and they took care of the issue quickly, and for a fair price. The technicians are honest, super friendly and knowledgeable, and really went the extra mile. The office was easy to schedule and communicate via email and the phone. TL;DR: If I could give NEGATIVE stars, I would! Total flooding damage is estimated to be around $50,000 and NO ONE who is responsible is being held accountable! It has been over 2 months!!! LA Standard was contracted by Fidelity Home Warranty to come out to replace our broken AC unit while no one was occupying the home. When the tenants came to move in, they noticed that the AC was on and that the whole 2nd story was flooded with water coming from the ceiling between the 2nd and 3rd floor. The AC could only be turned off using the circuit breaker because the digital control panel was frozen and inaccessible. We had no idea what the flooding was due to so we called an 3rd party plumbing company to diagnose the problem. They told us that there was no plumbing issue so the flooding was not due to any plumbing issue. They suggested that the flooding may be due to the AC. We then got a 3rd party HVAC company to take a look. They found that flooding was caused by the refrigerant line completely freezing up due to improper installation of the new AC unit. When we got this report, we forwarded it to Fidelity and LA Standard, who then came out to "inspect" the issue. During this "inspection", they, without permission, accessed the broken hot tub on the 3rd floor that was off limits and unused by anyone including the tenants who knew about the broken hot tub. Our tenants told LA Standard that they weren't permitted to turn on the bath tub. When they went downstairs, they thought they heard LA Standard turning on the bathtub faucet and went back upstairs to find that LA Standard was filling up the bathtub in spite of being told not to. As expected, the bathtub started leaking water, which contributed even further to the leaking and damage to the floor below. LA Standard then went on the blame the hot tub as the source of the original flooding and then left without taking any accountability. Fidelity said that they would then open a claim with their insurance provider, HCC Casualty Insurance Services, Inc., who sent an adjuster to come out twice to inspect the damage. Over a month after the adjuster first came out, HCC Casualty just sent a note saying they were denying our claim. In total, this has taken over 2 months with NO resolution and our poor tenants having to live with this issue this entire time! Bottom line: run away from any of the aforementioned companies!!! read more

American home shield contracted them to come out and look at our HVAC which wasn't cooling enough, had too high of humidity, and had a zone that wasn't working. Dimitry the technician obviously didn't want to be there and, when told what the issues were, said that he didn't do that kind of work. He left within 5 minutes. It has been several days and they still haven't uploaded their diagnosis to AHS. Their continued ineptitude is now delaying me from getting someone qualified to fix the issue. The worst company you could ask for. I am almost 9 months pregnant and been without AC for over 2 months! They came out and diagnosed our problem charged us 1k, then never fixed the problem. Called them back, and they sent the wrong tech the second time, the 2nd tech said he has no idea what the first tech did. Had to wait longer for the original tech to come back and tells us we need a new system. We got it approved through the home warranty with additional out of pocket costs for us of course they wanted more money! Then we waited for the parts to be ordered, and scheduled the job and they never showed! My husband called them upset and they hung up on him and no are not answering the phone! AHS sent a plumber to us who said it is an HVAC issues. AHS sent these jokers out who closed our claim as "work completed" with NO WORK DONE. AHS had confirmed that a leaking condensate line is a covered item. These guys find ways to say it's not covered because they simply do not want to do the work and AHS pays them a fee to show up for 2 minutes and deny the claim. They came out to service my HVAC which wasn't working and did nothing but turn on the switch and said that it was working perfectly and there was nothing wrong. The system stopped working about 2 hours later, and it has been about 2 weeks and I am still waiting for them to reschedule an appointment to come out with the average temperature at 111. Degrees. One of their techs came out, measured the temperature of the air and said "everything is fine." We knew this was not the case. A week later, the system completely gave out. We got a 2nd opinion and they informed us the compressor was out! I called this company to have them come back and re-inspect the unit on a "call back" call but they refused to do so! The first HVAC company my Fidelity Home Warranty chose was LA Standard HVAC. The dispatcher is an ass on top of the fact that he refused to return when I told him the work they did a few days earlier failed to cool the house. Fidelity, with whom I usually have horrible claims experiences, actually transferred the job to Relaxed Heating and Air and I did not have to pay another $75. Sure enough, the compressor was down 5 lbs of Freon. Christopher came out and it was cooling within the hour. He was a great technician and a cool dude - perfect combo! Originally, my issue with LA Standard HVAC arose because the original tech that replaced my compressor didn't do his job correctly. Not to mention I was charged $1,500 in order for them to replace the compressor. After 3 calls to the office and 3 visits by the same tech, he couldn't figure out why the house was not cooling correctly. Mind you, prior to the compressor being replaced, the house would get cold and in the low 70's/high 60's. Finally, I decided to reach out to another company via Yelp. The tech came out and said that there was not enough pressure and went into the house and noticed that the evaporator coil had a chunk of ice on it. He recommended that I have it replaced. Per his advice, I reached out to the home warranty and they sent out another company to diagnose. The new company was not able to accommodate my schedule so I called the home warranty back and explain to them that I was still having issues with my HVAC and it tied back to LA Standard. So they waived the $85 co-pay and called LA Standard to come back out. They sent the same tech out and he confirmed the evap coil needed to be replaced. After paying an additional $800 for the modification to LA Standard, they sent someone out to install the new evaporator coil. They sent out someone else after I've been pleading with the operator to send someone else prior and was just told that they can only send out the same tech because he's the only one that covered this area. This just proves that was total BS from the operator. So after the evaporator coil was replaced, I still noticed that the house was still not cooling. I called LA Standard again pleading and they finally sent out a new tech (Daniel) and after I gave him a synopsis of the problem, he discovered that there was not enough charge/coolant in the compressor. He put in 1.5lbs worth and immediately, I could feel how cold the air became. At one point, it dipped below 70 for the first time since the compressor was replaced. LA Standard then called me to set up a follow-up to make sure everything is working and after 10 days, Daniel came back and confirmed everything is working correctly. This could have saved me a lot of headaches and back and forth if they would have sent Daniel in the first place. This whole ordeal was in a span of 3 months right in the heat of summer. I feel the first tech was definitely not experienced enough and needed more training. If LA Standard would have granted my request for a 2nd tech's eye on the situation might have solved the issue. So the 2 stars is for the problem not being addressed correctly and the attitude I was getting from the operator telling me that he has sent out the tech 3 times already and he's basically doing it for free. I don't understand why he would say this to me especially since the initial issue was not resolved. They are, however, responsive and did seem to care. Just hope you get Jack on the phone instead of the other operator. If it weren't for the initial issue I had with them, I'd probably give them 3.5-4 stars. read more

A tech came to our house for about 5 minutes to misdiagnose a broken part on our 31 year old system. When my AC unit stopped, I opened a claim and the fidelity home warranty company assigned the LA STANDARD HVAC vendor. Within a day I received a call and Arec who scheduled Daniel to come out for an inspection. Within minutes of Daniel's arrival the diagnosis of parts and work needed was discovered. Daniel mentioned some things may be covered and others may not. I understand this already; as with most warranties, that's how things go. The insurance company received the report and proposed repairs. Unfortunately, the warranty e-mail's and phone conversations were very confusing. In all their communication, the home warranty company only focused on items not covered and kept driving me to accept a cash buy out option which would disable their warranty for the AC unit. That option did not make sense to me. Fortunately when I called back Arec - he explained the repair in terms I could easily understand.
