A really quite delicious Spanish Tapa restaurant hindered by really god-awful service. We were seated during happy hour and only the second occupied table in the establishment. "Lucky us," we thought, "now our waiter surely won't be distracted." How naive! After sitting around aimlessly, our menus finally arrived five minutes after sitting down. Our drink orders finally taken ten minutes after that, and my mother was weirdly talked down to while asking a simple question about happy hour. Despite all of that, we were still looking forward to our meal, enjoyed our tapas, and awaited our main. It never came, and as the waiter came by to ask us how everything was we told him what was missing. Apologetic he was not. Unfortunately, the food really was quite good and genuine (otherwise it would be easier to write La Taberna Giralda off completely). Its ambiance is cute, despite its harsh overhead lighting, and it's surely a nice place to take in a Flamenco show or some Spanish music. Still, if you're someone who expects or enjoys good service, I recommend you take your business elsewhere. read more

Taberna Giralda is a traditional Spanish restaurant with a very palpable Spanish atmosphere. I had been here once before for drinks but not dinner. They have great service offering inside and outside seating and a Flamenco show on Saturday nights. The staff was, friendly, helpful and attentive. The vibe is excellent. Everyone here is ready to eat well and have a lovely time. No sooner had we sat down, our server took our drink order and immediately brought it out. We chose a Spanish Urbión Rioja reserva wine and it was quite delectable. We also ordered 2 Coke zeros. For our starters, we selected: * 2 Chips de Berenjena. Eggplant chips, flash fried and drizzled with honey. These are the best!!! So delicious, we ordered 2 servings and everyone in the restaurant was ordering them. * Fried Calamari with a very tasty aioli sauce. * Gulas de Ajillo Baby eels cooked in garlic sauce and olive oil - delicious. This dish is very special to us because my Husband eats it every time we visit Barcelona. * Pulpo a la Plancha - Grilled octopus with creamy black rice made of calamari ink. The rice was excellent, absolutely luscious. * Pulpo a la Gallega. Boiled octopus and boiled potatoes drizzled with paprika and olive oil. For our Mains we ordered the * Filet Mignon with blue cheese sauce and boiled potatoes. This dish was just OK. The potatoes weren't seasoned, only boiled. The steak had no char and was overdone for a filet. My Husband also ordered * Patatas a la Giralda - their twist on patatas bravas with two homemade signature sauces. These were crispy, and delicous. Served underneath the 2 sauces. * I ordered Grilled Chicken with salad. I was taken aback by the server for food shaming me to order something pricier, not just basic chicken. That's not cool. I also got a side of * Patatas - fried steak fries, very crunchy paired well with our food. For dessert we had * Crema Catalana, which is a Spanish syle Crème brûlée. This dessert has probably been the smallest dessert I've ever ordered. Not to mention, the consistency, the taste and color was all wrong. It was as if you had a Jello vanilla pudding with a miniscule amount of hardened caramelized sugar. Definitely not getting this desert again. I'd like to try the Tarta de Santiago next time. Once our food arrived the Flamenco show began and it was glorious!! The lead male vocalist was phenomenal! His vocal range and guitar skills were admirable. The show began with singing first and then the dancer started. She was a personable, very talented dancer and performer. At one point she locked eyes with me and before I knew it I was up there dancing with her, which was so much fun! Our waiter messed up the order and brought salmon instead of trout. We asked for separate checks by couples and unfortunately evening flow did not go smooth because three times the checks were confused and incorrect. Tasty, authentic Spanish tapas and entrees in a historic looking restaurant! You have the feeling of being transported to another country being in here. Performance stage has live music like flamenco on weekend nights. Service is the weakest point---spotty and not knowledgeable---but if you can work with it, the food is worth a visit. I went for their brunch, to celebrate my birthday, which is typically only offered on Sundays, but the owner was kind enough to have the chef accommodate a request for brunch items on a Saturday. They have bottomless cava-mosas for $35, which we took very full advantage of as the combination of fresh orange juice with the cava helped our party have a great time. A few of us would ask for refills, and our server would take three or four flutes back to the bar to pour the drinks. It became clear that he was not keeping track of whose glass was whose and simply came back and placed glasses in front of us without checking anything. Luckily we all liked each other enough to be able to be comfortable with sharing glasses. I had the Chistorras a la Casuela and Spanish Tortilla which were both tasty. The Chistorras had well seasoned potato cubes, crisped chorizo and a beautifully runny fried egg. The tortilla was hefty with its layers of scalloped potatoes, held together with fluffed egg. I shared one and a half slices with my friends, then asked for the rest of it to take with me. The server took it and never returned with the takeout container. If you can't tell by now, our server was young, distracted, and quite clueless. There was a soccer game on in the restaurant, and we caught him watching the game a few times while we were trying to get his attention for an order. He told me that the owner wanted to give me a surprise, so he wanted to know when our meal was done. Obviously, he didn't get the memo about what a surprise is. However, like I said, the ambience of the restaurant, and its food are worth a try. The owner, William, is an incredibly sweet gentleman whom you should be able to meet since he is at the restaurant almost every day. Hopefully, you'll have a different service experience. Great location with a parking garage across the street or a side parking lot. I came here for my birthday dinner on a Saturday night to enjoy the flamenco dancer and the Spanish food. I made reservations for three. Once you walk in they walk you to your table. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was very delicious and came out very quickly. I was looking for a place to watch La Supercopa de España with my son and as we root for FC Barcelona, not that other team, a little research online pointed us to La Taberna Giralda. This is where the Barca fans in Miami gather for games. I showed up early in order to grab a good spot. The restaurant has both tables and bar seating inside and an outdoor patio. It was game day so all the staff were in their Spain shirts. The ambiance was great. A great mix of single guys, couples and families all rooting for Barca. Staff was super attentive and a great selection of beers from Spain on tap. We ordered a handful of apps but they also had paella which I might order next time because it looked amazing. For appetizers, we ordered the Patatas Bravas, Gambas (shrimp) al Ajillo and Fried Calamari. All were delicious. The Gambas al Ajillo were probably my favorite. But who doesn't love garlic and butter combo?!? And all through out the match I enjoyed one of my favorite Spanish beers, Mahou, which they had on tap. In the end our team won by a decisive score of 5-2. A great time was had. Much singing and celebrating by everyone. Staff was attentive from start to finish. It felt like they really enjoyed having a large crowd. Which is not always the case. So I'm very appreciative of that and will definitely be back for more games. read more

So as you can probably tell by my 3 Star rating, I was somewhat underwhelmed by our visit to Taberna Giralda. Everything was honestly just "Meh..." The food was a bit underseasoned, I felt. The portions have gotten A lot smaller (!) And prices have increased a fair amount. Service wasn't great either. I found we had to ask for almost everything- bread, drinks when ours were empty, more water, More bread, a menu, our bill... just no real proactively at all by the bartender (we sat at the bar) who was mostly talking with other staff, dancing or cleaning wine glasses. Anyway, the best part of our visit was the Flamenco show. They charge you $5/person, and it's more than worth it. Only on certain nights but worth inquiring. The guitarist has an amazing voice! The dancer is very good and the percussionist ties it all together well. They were very entertaining. Having said that, there are many better options for good Spanish food in Miami with tastier food, larger portions and better prices. Not sure we will be back. read more

We had visited this restaurant many times, years ago. I am sorry to say that the food is not as good as it used to be anymore. The portions are super small, the chistorras have no flavor at all, the ham plate was very dried which shows that the ham was cut hours prior (maybe the day before). The Manchego cheese was super young and it was cut too thin and had oil on top of it making it taste blander. The fried chick peas was watery and you could count the beans. The lamb lollipops were flavorful (Lebanese style). The bread was warm and fresh. The dessert was a disaster, the Crème brûlée had no flavor, was grainy, and it was two spoons in a toy coffee plate which we couldn't eat. The "Tablao" presentation is a fiasco. They should stop advertising it as a "Tablao". Although the singer and the percussion player are good, it was not flamenco. They missed the drum box, "cante" hand-clapping, "zapateo" and the dancer has no idea what flamenco dance is. Sorry. (On a positive note, the waitress was very attentive.) read more

What a quaint establishment. You get the feel of being in an authentic Spanish restaurant. Willy is the manager and such a wonderful host. He is so welcoming and accommodating. Absolutely love this spot, now my "go to" lunch place when I'm in Coral Gables. First of all, their lunch specials are really good deals, two courses for $13 plus $5 wines. My favorite lunch special is Tuesday, if you're flexible check out the daily menu (I'll try to attach a pic) to choose your favorite day to go. The food is delicious (one of the best Tortilla Espanola anywhere) and service is super friendly. The inside of the restaurant is lovely and intimate very Spanish in feeling, but I have always opted for one of the two or three outdoor tables to enjoy the quiet street scene while dining. I want to try they Tappy Hour with more tapas to select from. Although you have an abundance of quality restaurants to choose from in the The City Beautiful, I highly recommend La Taberna Giralda for quality meals at reasonable prices in a great setting. read more

I don't know how they fry them but they were so good! Pulpo a la plancha - super tender And flavorful. I went to have pulpo somewhere else a few days later and it reminded me how good this one was.
