My wife, daughter, and I spent a week here over the summer. It is located in a convenient spot in Paris, near the Champs Elysées and between the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower. We could walk to either location within 5 minutes, and the double decker bus routes went right by (the pickup/dropoff stops were just a few blocks away). We found the lobby, bar, and restaurant to be very well appointed and the staff was warm and welcoming. We had reserved a Deluxe room with queen bed via Expedia before the trip, as only my wife and daughter were going on their return from other European locations. When I decided to join them, I contacted the hotel directly and, despite Expedia's "no change" policy, the hotel accommodated us and updated us to a Junior Suite for just a bit more per night.
On arrival, we were about 3 hours before official checkin. They let us know they would get us in as soon as possible, sat us at a large table in the lobby, and provided cappuccino for us while we waited. About 20 minutes later they had us checked in and took our luggage up for us. The room was small by American standards, but quite large per European standards. The suite was roughly 12x14 feet, and had a private bathroom. It was appointed nicely, and the floor to ceiling windows looked out over the quaint Paris street next to Bis Avenue Kleber, it provided plenty of light and fresh air - but after all, we were not there to sit in the room and look out the window. WiFi is free, but you get upgraded speed for a small fee.
Our daughter got quite ill the second day there, and the concierge spent almost an hour finding us a doctor who would make a house call to the hotel. This is not uncommon in Paris, but as it was summer, most Parisians were out of the city on holiday. The hotel followed up on our daughter's health after the doctor visit, and retrieved the prescribed drugs for us. Another day, it was raining outside and I inquired about where to purchase an umbrella to use while sight seeing. The concierge told me that "none are available for purchase in Paris, but I will lend you one for your visit." Of course, he jested - but he did lend us a hotel umbrella (as we later saw him doing for other guests as well).
Our room was on the first floor, at the top of the stairs. We found it to be quiet and well appointed for a building of such age. It was quaint and charming. The rooms were cleaned each day, and the refrigerator was re-stocked each day - despite the fact that we only consumed the free bottles of water. We removed their "pay per item" drinks from the fridge, and stocked it with groceries we purchased at a grocery around the corner, and the staff respected that and still re-stocked the water bottles for us. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant each morning, which was pricey but delicious. There were pastries, breads, cereals, and hot items, as well as fresh yogurt, fruits, and fresh squeezed juices (like strawberry, kiwi, mango, orange, etc.)
I would book directly through Accor Hotels next time, as I actually got a better price than the "Expedia special price." But get the Le Club Accor Hotels membership before you call - the rewards are great from the hotel.
We could not have been happier with our stay at Hotel Baltimore Paris Champs-Elysées, and will return on our next Paris trip. read more
