Service is horrible! Corp catering orders arrive 45 minutes too early and then food is cold when meeting is over, grubhub/uber eats orders are late from them frequently and staff is not very friendly. They are also super cheap. Portions of toppings are super tiny-I asked for beans once and they literally sprinkled five beans on my burrito bowl and then got annoyed when I asked for more than 5 beans. Side of guac is literally a tablespoon of guac and then they charge you $3. Food is good, but will not be returning because service is so bad. read more

When I called into the store I spoke with Jaylene who proceeded to put me on hold while I had to listen to her have a personal conversation for 15 minutes until I decided to hang up and call back. 1st call back she answered and hung up 2nd call back she answered and hung up 3rd time she finally answered She informed me she was just speaking to the manager regarding my issue which I know is not true as I listened to her talk about jewelry for 15 mins with no regard for my missing order or my time. Ordered delivery here. The mexican salad was delicious. What I loved was that the chicken was moist and tender. It had a little spice to it but nothing too bad. I also liked the flavor of the dressing. So good. No complaints. The problem was the delivery was late and they forgot the churros. That was the dessert!! The man was very rude to my mother when asked for a bag! He told her to say "Please" and "Thank you" when he left her the bag on the table! My mother didn't stand for it and he came outside and told us not to 'disrespect him' and that he was going to 'call the cops' He had a bad attitude the whole time and when you're in the service industry (like I've been) your customers are your bread and butter and they can easily ruin your restaurant with just one bad review! I have a loyalty to Tomatillo that allows me to look past any flaws or inconvenient experience one may have at any of their locations. The Stamford location in particular is a fond memory of quieter times before kids and cheap date nights with the wife. Now, I enjoy eating in or taking out with the whole family and extended friends for some simple casual fare. I believe I have had everything on the menu or at least tasted it. The freshness and simplicity is appreciated for those days or nights you just don't want to cook at home. The nachos are an indulgence and I tend to get the taco salad with my own array of fixings. I am now a vegetarian, but I feel tempted to eat meat only on the rarest of occasions looking at the bins of varied spiced carnivorous delicacies. However, it is nice to know that I can also not feel like I am missing out at a place to eat if I stay true to my dietary commitment. However, if you do eat meet and order the nachos, I recommend ordering it with chili and the fajita vegetable! read more

I still believe this place is one of the best and my favorites in Cos Cob. Staff is friendly and food is fresh. I would never eat not fresh seafood and I am pretty sure I would know. In fact one time I was happy to wait while shrimp was cooked in the back kitchen. I love that they offer two rice options (spanish/lime) and two bean options (black/pinto). I go for the shrimp tacos almost every time loaded with pinto, Spanish rice and the works (cheese,pico,lettuce,sour cream). I have NEVER in the dozens of times I've been here had a rude or bad experience food or service. I love El Charitto as well and I in no way see these as competing factions from which you have to choose. My daughter and I went for dinner, and her chicken burrito bowl contained 2 scoops of chicken and mine one. When I asked to have more to match the amount she had, I was charged an "extra item" fee. Also, guacamole price has increased by 100%. Our usual meal of $20.00 became $25 with the "extra" chicken and increase in guacamole to $2.15/scoop - and the scoops aren't even! The portions at Tomarillo have decreased by 30% or more since I started going here a year ago. You pay $10 for a burrito bowl with a very small scoop of meat. My bowl was half full when I left the place when it used to be full. It's just not worth the price. Chicken was so dry that I had to wash it down with the small spoon of guacamole. An the service was so slow. We waited for nearly 10 minutes to place our order when there was only one guy already placing an order. They seemed to be focusing just on their takeout orders. I ordered online with my coworker at 930am through grub hub a few weeks ago. our lunch was scheduled for 11:30 delivery than changed to 12. At 12:30 we called and they said an hour, than again at 1:30 we called they said it was on our way... either way it didn't arrive until 2pm... food was cold, soggy and identifiable, nobody consumed more than a bite and when we called they told us it was our fault... the staff didn't offer any type of resolution (nor did grub hub )and they just gave us attitude about it. This is Greenwich residents' answer to Chipolte. From my experiences with both it is just about the same type of menu, which I love. You have the choice between a burrito, burrito bowl, and tacos plus what ever meat, veggies and additional fixings you'd like. They also have a fish option which is a welcomed choice for me. If the gigantic portions don't fill you up you can also get a side of chips with salsa and/or guacamole. You can also order a single taco, rather that the 3 that come in a typical selection. There are a few tables to sit at but I've always done take-out. I would have given Tomatillo 5 stars if the service was just a little bit fast (it is a cumbersome wait if a family of 4 is in line in front of you) and if they didn't charge extra for guacamole and sour cream toppings. These two things should be a standard add-on at a taco place. read more

Food was subpar at best.....beef tasted foul, pork was decent and chicken was dark and white meat with large chunks and not tasty. Worst part of it all was the staff. We went in at 730pm on a Wednesday night and there was one other couple sitting and eating. There were 4 people working and standing around chatting when we walked in, meanwhile not a single table was wiped down and there was food on all of them, the trash was overflowed and the staff was not friendly at all. I feel bad for the owner of this place because the concept isn't bad but it's very poorly run. Coming in, I knew that this was going to be a similar menu to Chipotle, so I'll compare it that way. Cilantro Lime rice was somewhat bland and seems a little mushy. Chicken was shredded which wasn't bad, but again, seemed a little bland. Grilled peppers and onions were a bit overcooked. And I would say the guacamole was maybe a half step above Chipotle.
