    Entrance to La Terra

After hitting many of the major tourist cities in Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice, Capri), my husband and I were sick of getting soaked at tourist trap restaurants. We Yelped establishments in our out-of-the-way neighborhood of Montepertuso, outside the hot center of Positano with high hopes. La Terra had high ratings and low prices. Our kinda place. Boy, was it. As soon as we sat down, we received complimentary Prosecco and the most yummy amuse bouche. Fried zucchini flower balls stuffed with ricotta, and tasty bruschetta. Free. All free. We didn't want to eat heavily, so we ordered a pasta dish and grilled veggies (see photos) to share. Our attentive waiter responded to our modest order with "perfetto!" Nice. The grilled veggies were savory and the pasta - perfect for two, with generous surprises of capers, olives and cherry tomatoes. The bread was the best we've had in our three weeks in Italy, and I was not able to finish my 1/2 bottle of house red. As an aside, the dusk-time view of the Mediterranean was spectacular. Total price for this piece of heaven? €34. Don't miss this understated gem.

Huge starter of carpaccio of catch of the day

So glad we checked out yelp recommendations. Here in the height of summer, booked a table same day, picked up v promptly from our hotel in Positano and were given a window table so we enjoyed the sunset over the Amalfi coast as we dined. Service was lovely, everything perfectly timed, never rushed, excellent local wine recommendation View was of course amazing Food was delicious: for €135 (2 people) we had a bottle of water, and excellent bottle of local white wine, shared the starter of carpaccio of catch if the day on salad (it was HUGE and full of flavor), the clam, zucchini and zucchini flower pasta which was delectable (this part of the world just generally has the best clams ever) the husband had the seafood gnocchi which he especially praised for the reduction sauce, I had thin fillets of swordfish coated in almonds, with toasted almonds Sprinkled on top in a lemon sauce. Absolutely delicious. Also had a delicious amuse bouche of mixed cheese dumpling in a tomato sauce which was also brilliant. And limoncello to finish, of course Highly recommended for every single part that goes towards a wonderful restaurant experience

The food was great, but a tad expensive. The service was excellent all night and they even gave us a shuttle ride back to our Airbnb. I highly recommend their POLIPO CROCCANTE SU CREMA DI PATATE E CHIPS DI TOPINAMBUR (crispy octopus on creamed potatoes and chips of topinambur) from their appetizer courses. The octopus was very flavourful and it paired nicely with fresh, crispy chips and the smooth creamed potatoes. Our favorite dish from the courses menu was the SCIALATIELLI AI FRUTTI DI MARE (homemade scialatielli pasta seafood). The fillet of seabass and steak were also very good.

The best minestrone made from vegetables they grow in the garden

We had an amazing lunch at La Terra! Our tour guide recommended and brought us after our long hike. We were starving. It was late afternoon so we had the place to ourselves. The views are amazing and they opened windows for us. The service was impeccable. We started with salad, prosciutto and mozzarella, and the best minestrone I've eaten made with vegetables they grow in their garden. Next we had Spaghetti Pomodoro, Spaghetti Bolognese, and a fresh Amberjack fish fillet with lemon sauce. All were delicious!

Just spectacular. We loved our visit to La Terra for lunch. The gentleman who picked us up at our hotel was a great driver, very hard working, and very friendly. Loved his music in the car! He also makes an incredible lemoncello spritzer drink! Best one we had on our trip!! My husband is the sea bass branzino and I had spaghetti alla putenesca (I am sure I spelled thus incorrectly...sorry!) And had the amazing profiteros for dessert. I recommend it all!! The decor is simple, but outstanding. Romantic and stunning views!!!

A charming place away from the bustle of Positano. The tomatoes for the Caprese salad were ripe and married perfectly with the fresh and tasty mozzarella. Sparse on the basil and dressed as we liked, it was a great place for the Italian salad. The mussels were in a tomato sauce that tasted like it'd been marinating all day. Light, but flavorful. The spinach ravioli was simply divine. Balanced well with spinach and cheese, the sause complemented the flavorful pasta. To end, we enjoyed the delectable profiteroles. Drenched in chocolate that had a hint of a citrus flavor, the Chantilly made the dessert a superb ending to a delightful meal. The free shuttle and friendly service added to the evening.

Francesco has a great place. Outside of town, but the shuttle is great. Great food, local color, good wines, nice people. What more do you want?

Beautiful decor, smaller atmosphere, and delicious food! Good choice of restaurant that gets you away from the crowded feel of the Positano city center. Montepertuso is definitely worth a short trip up the mountain. Had their specialty made in house pasta (forgot the name) but it was great!

The place is an absolute must for the food and the sunset view. They will also send a shuttle to your hotel to pick you up and drop you off. The owner is great and everything on the menu is organic. Very romantic spot!

Stomach growling as I was walking down Viale Pasitea (the main thoroughfare in town), multiple good options caught my eye. After some Gmaps searching (sorry Yelp, again limited and some outdated data in Europe!) their beautiful IG-able interior + stellar reviews cinched the decision for me. It's both a restaurant and retail store--the latter carries local ceramics, kitchenware and home decor, many with botanical designs--capturing that quintessential coastal vibe--colors back to white. The former takes up the remaining three-quarters of the white-washed space with about two dozen tables seating about 40-50 people. Live vines hang from parts of the ceiling, pendant lighting fixtures printed with leaf patterns echo the botanical theme from the retail displays. The aesthetic rounds out with tiled floors, light wood furniture, and pillowed banquette seating mixed with individual tables, tying in designs from the home goods store. Food is new Italian--they do carry some traditional dishes though they also have a modern Mediterranean section of the menu that adds non-traditional ingredients or techniques. They also serve a variety of cocktails, fresh-squeezed or blended juices and smoothies, and coffee drinks. Lunch with an entree and drink will run you about €35-40, which is on the higher side though par for the course compared to other similar restaurants along the Amalfi Coast. I ordered the traditional fagioli cannellini, scarola, capperi, olive e calamari gratinati €26 (cannellini beans, escarole, capers, olives and gratinated calamari). This was creamy and tasty even though it had no cheese or cream, the calamari was cooked well, just tender enough, and coated with light breadcrumbs, which I appreciated as it was baked and not deep-fried. Having minimal familiarity with dish, I can only say I thought it was outstanding, good textural contrast, not too salty. Staff was the right amount of attentive without being overbearing, and though their English was limited, they strove to answer my questions on ingredients in a few of the dishes. The restaurant was pretty busy during lunch, but I never felt rushed. Loved the atmosphere and food here, would certainly recommend!

The evening starts with their complimentary shuttle up the hill (a huge plus on those winding roads), and from the first greeting, the staff make you feel like family. We ordered a spread and every dish delivered. The truffle ravioli was luxuriously rich and silky, easily one of the best pastas I've had in Italy. The steak was perfectly seared and served with roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables in a creamy sauce, comforting yet refined. The bruschetta came loaded with prosciutto, shaved Parmesan, and sweet cherry tomatoes, simple but so delicious. Dessert was a highlight: their tiramisu, layered in a glass jar, was light, creamy, and paired perfectly with the complimentary limoncello and meloncello shots. They have an impressive wine cellar, and both the Brunello and Barolo we tried were fantastic; bold, smooth, and beautifully balanced with the food. From start to finish, Il Ritrovo blends warmth, authenticity, and flavor in a way that captures everything you hope an Italian dinner will be. Absolutely worth the trip up the hill.

It was noted that the service was slow and staff not particularly friendly, so we just went in expecting that. Located right along the waterfront in Naples, the restaurant has plenty of outside seating and was on a lovely, relatively quiet, side street off the main drag, with citrus trees! We are English speakers, and while we tried to use some Italian, we were flawed, yet our server was very kind to us. We didn't find him lacking friendliness at all, he just wasn't outgoing and chatty like servers in the US can be (or maybe he was with people more fluent in Italian, who knows!). The menu is all vegan. My vegan brother was overjoyed at being able to eat everything, and the rest of us quickly found things to be excited about too. Highlights, in my opinion, included the antipasta mista platter (omg those vegan mozzarella sticks!!!), the ravioli (cooked to perfection, unbelievably flavorful and I couldn't believe there was no cheese in them!), and the grilled mushrooms (these shocked everyone at the table by tasting exactly like a STEAK!!!!). Oh, and I can't forget the amazing tiramisu we had for dessert. The service was very slow, but considering how expertly crafted and beautifully arranged every dish was, this just implied to me that they hadn't prepare much in advance, and they were making everything as it was ordered- I don't consider that a downside. Plus, during our whole time in Italy we have noticed that it's the custom to linger over a nice meal, and we are the only family we see who eats and bolts. I don't hold this fact against this restaurant at all.

This was our first meal after arriving in Positano and we couldn't have asked for a better one. We arrived in Positano around 10 PM on a Saturday night. We also ordered a spicy green sauce pasta that was top 3 best things we ate on our entire trip. I wish I knew the name of it so that I could mention it here.
