Great view of Florence near the domo and other local places. Catch the sunset and have a glass of wine or cocktail or some food/desert. I would have given it four stars, but the service was terrible. Understaffed, not friendly =three stars. The view...

I'll spill the beans on how to get here. To get to this spot, you need to enter through the "la Rinascente" department store on the first floor and take the elevator/escalator to the 4th floor. From there you take the stairs to the "5th floor" rooftop Rooftop bar with a beautiful view of il Duomo and Piazza Della Republica. The drinks here are not cheap, as you'll be paying for the location (and view). It is worth it. I enjoyed half a litre of white wine with a friend while taking in the views. I think the total damage was 16 Euros. Money well spent, check this spot out. I saw some people order 1 bottle of water to keep it on the cheap. You can do that if you want to, but really... You are in Florence, kick back, enjoy a nice drink and enjoy the view

This one isn't easy to find as need to go up the escalators through the department store and then take a separate staircase to reach the top floor. This spot is popular only because it is one of the few restaurant rooftop terraces available in the city of Florence. This very small limited menu is overpriced, but hey, you're paying the price of admission for the beautiful 360 degree views. Cocktails are 9 euro here (4 euro is much more in line everywhere else) but you will get a little plate of snacks for your table consisting of some pesto and/or tapenade. Didn't think there was enough here to make it special to warrant the extra cost as there are prettier views from other venues.

Great place for the view and drinks. It is on the top of a department store so it closes early. We wanted an early quick dinner with exhausted kids and were able to grab the last 4 paninis. It isn't really a dinner place. Once the food runs out, it runs out. But I recommend for a glass of wine before you head to dinner elsewhere. It's a small balcony and there isn't a bad table.

What an amazing view of il Duomo!!! Mamma mia, this is one of the best kept secrets in Firenze! We paid €11.50 for a cup of coffee & a cup of hot chocolate but it was so worth it!!! I won't tell you exactly how to get there because I don't want more people finding out about this place, hehehe!! XD

Amazing spot is enjoy brunch in the afternoon. You get a great view of Florence. I wouldn't say it is as "hidden" as Yelp suggests though, considering how crowded the place is. There is a downstairs section too, but it's indoors and you don't get to enjoy the nice view and weather. The food here is pretty good too. I got the riso, which was rice with a tomato sauce and feta cheese. It was delicious. Perfectly sauced. My boyfriend got their ricotta and spinach ravioli in butter, which was good too. We both shared a caffe freddo, which was phenomenal! We ordered this drink at other places and couldn't find another one as good as this. I wish I could replicate it and bring it back to the US. Service wasn't great though. There was one waiter for the entire outdoor patio. ONE. She was swamped during the entire time. I felt bad, but we did have to wait a while to get our order taken and we were starving. They really need to hire another waiter to help out. One note though: you can't share a table with strangers. This one couple invited us to sit with them when they saw we were waiting for a table. The server told us that we cannot do that unless we plan on being under the same bill and put us somewhere else.

The views of Piazza della Repubblica are unbeatable!

Looking for good value Italian food with an epic rooftop view of Florence? Well my friend, the La Terrazza is just the place for you! After escalator rides through the department store, La Rianscente, and a final elevator ride up to the top level, a beautiful rooftop dining area will be waiting for you. For food I recommend getting the lasagna, easily the best of my life. And while you're waiting for your grub, be sure to take advantage of the high altitude and capture some photos with the breathtaking scenery around you! My parents loved their photo up here so much it's going to make the cut on our yearly Christmas card ;)

Worth the trip up to the top floor of department store La Rinascente for roof top views of some of Firenze's highlights over Piazza della Repubblica, including the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio and the sunset. There was only one sever for the 12 or so tables so things moved slow, but the view is awesome, and more moderately priced than Rick Steves would have you think. For our quick trip to Florence, we wanted apertivo with a view and this was perfect.

    Neither was enjoyable

rooftop outdoor patio...go inside la rinascente department store...take the elevator or escalators to the top floor and walk up the stairs to the rooftop...extremely packed and self-seating...scout a good table with great views...wait for party to finish and take the table...really here for the views on a perfect sunny florence day...order of caffe latte 4,50€ and caffe freddo 5€...a tiramisu served in a bowl...tiramisu wasn't very good...plenty of drink options from mimosa to cognac...

Not sure how I give it a 4 with the views. This is the first place you should come when you get to Florence. Get your bearings and then head out. Service is kinda slow but it's a department store cafe when it's all said and done. Beautiful views in all directions. Mojito was pretty good. Too much lime and not enough rum but, hey, I'm American. Stop by.

One of their Xmas trees and the amazing view of the Duomo outside.

I can't believe I've never rated this place! It's one of my favorite hidden spots in Florence! The little sandwiches are super yummy and affordable plus the hot chocolate is so rich! Now the best part is he view off course, although they are small (outside) they always have tables available so you can take amazing pictures of the views and sit down and relax at the same time. I went there today around sunset time and while larinascente was packed on a Saturday before Xmas I still got a seat right away up there! Took my mom there too for the first time today needless to say she loved it!

A great spot to enjoy the skyline of Florence! You can see the Duomo, Piazza Della Repubblica and more! Grab a glass of wine or coffee and enjoy the view! :) It's on the 5th floor of the department store La Rinascente.

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

This is one of the places that friends recommended and it's also on the list of many influencers. Tourist trappy, maybe. But the food was totally worth it. We were in the area around 4:30PM and decided to stop in, totally not expecting much as we didn't make a reservation but figured if they're open and not busy, why not give them a try. The most memorable dish we had was the appetizer we order - fried polenta with mushrooms and chicken liver pate, the polenta fried crispy, the mushrooms creamy and the chicken liver pate so smooth and savory. We also ordered 2 pasta dishes - wild boar sauce pappardelle and spaghetti alla carbonara. So tasty and with depth of flavors. Paired well with the house white wine we ordered as well. Definitely a spot you don't want to miss when in Florence.

He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

I can't say enough about the food and service. We went to another steak place a few days before at Trattoria Dalloste. It was a couple of doors away from this place. The zucchini flower and saffron pasta was bursting with flavor and the pasta was so perfectly cooked. I couldn't get enough! The duck ragu pasta was also hearty, rich, and delicious. The sauce was so good, my family soaked up every last bit with our bread. The ricotta spinach ravioli was also amazing!! Again the sauce was such a standout. Vini e Vecchi Sapori was easily my favorite restaurant in Florence. I loved the cozy, vibrant dining room, snug and eclectically decorated. We were at a table so tiny, I worried about pulling a muscle when I crossed my legs. It was nestled amongst other tiny tables, and abutted a counter where plates were put out for service and the reservation book set down in its glory next to my husband's head. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive. Our waiter basically told what to order and we obeyed him, with excellent results. The one-page handwritten menu, helpfully available in English, presented the day's offerings and this preemptive list of disclaimers: No Pizza No Cappuccino No The Fork No Ice No Spritz No Ketchup FUCK CANCER There was a brief selection of Italian wines by the glass, and we got the Chianti Classico and the Bruno de Montalcino, both lovely. The food was delicious, starting with good bread and good olive oil. We ordered the mixed Tuscany salami and the beef carpaccio as appetizers, and they were both superb and not in the least bit redundant. There were four or five types of salami, every one of them fantastic, and I loved the thin, silky carpaccio, served with rucola, parmesan, olive oil, and black pepper. We shared two splendid pastas, spinach ricotta ravioli in a creamy rose tomato sauce and a hearty pappardelle with duck ragu. For dessert, we had the lush, irresistible raspberries tiramisu. I was advised to show up on time - even a 2 minute delay would make me miss my reservation. I can see why Trattoria Mario was strict on reservations. They open on the dot, and then a staff member calls out each reservation at 7:30pm like a roll call. Seemed to me that if you don't have a reservation then you're out of luck, because there was no waitlist and the restaurant small and space was limited. Service was great. Our waitress was highly attentive and got us in/out of the restaurant quickly, which was what we were going for. Food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the penne al ragu, salad misto, and a Florentine steak to share. The penne was perfectly al dente, and I liked the meat sauce. I shared two pasta dishes with my daughter (the handmade Pappardelle with Maremman Wild Boar Ragu and the Carbonara). Both were very good but not the best we've had. Appetizers were good: Salad with pecorino cheese, oranges, pine nuts and walnuts. We ordered the Octopus appetizer as well. The Octopus was beautifully prepared and presented, but didn't have much flavor. They nailed the Espresso Martini! One of the best I've ever had! We ordered the huge Florentine steak to share between 4 of us and it was more than enough. Ultimately what knocked this review down to 3 stars and what was really disappointing was how they targeted us as tourists with the note at the bottom of the bill (see picture). It read "GRATUITY NOT INCLUDED" in all CAPITAL LETTERS. Also note it was the only thing in English on the entire bill. If it had been our first meal in Florence we might have fallen for this tactic, however it was our last. There's definitely some hostility towards tourists in Florence. Don't get me wrong, some of the people and restaurants we've visited have been very welcoming and friendly. However we recently saw tourist taxes go up significantly, and then you see tricks like this on the bill at La Giostra. This was the ONLY restaurant in Florence where we encountered this. Once jet fuel prices make flying a relic of the past I would argue that some Europeans who depend on tourists for their livelihood may not miss our presence but will certainly miss our spending.
