Shrimp Quesadillas have been my jam lately...so passing this place reading "Mexico" I thought to myself- I would LOVE to actually be in Mexico right now. Why not! Walked in and it wasn't too busy. They offered lunch specials as well as their dinner menu at the time of my visit. Unfortunately I was on the clock so no margaritas for me...lol ginger al instead...was served with a lot of ice, so it was a bit watered down...however my food was actually pretty good. I placed my order and then stated reading Yelp reviews! I was a bit nervous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If i had read some of these before coming I probably would've skipped this place! I had already placed my order so nervously sitting, I said a prayer and out came the most delicious shrimp quesadillas. It was huge and full of the fattest most juiciest shrimp I've ever had...I subbed Spanish rice in place of the white rice it came with and also added a side of refried beans and jalapeños which came in the most cutest tortilla shell. The only thing that was missing for me was an order of plantains...how did they not have these on their menu?!!! My quesadilla was delicious! 10/10 & I literally could only eat a fourth of my quesadilla. The restaurant itself was a bit out dated...the playlist needed some help... I just threw my EarPods in and watched something on Netflix while enjoying my meal. If I'm ever back on this side, I'd probably try to find some where else to try, but I would come here again for the quesadillas! Happy Yelping!

I told them that whatever extra ingredient made it so sour could just be left out. The second drink was perfect, and I really appreciated how quickly they took care of it. For dinner, my wife ordered the chili, and I had the pork tacos. As always, the food was very good. We were sitting at the bar, and I asked Gordy about a couple of the beers they had on tap. He asked if we had ever has any of the sour beers. He came back with a sample of the Double Blueberry Marshmallow Sour. He was right! It definitely had a tart flavor at first, but it also had a nice sweetness. The blueberry flavor came through right away, and about 10 seconds later, I could really taste the marshmallow. It was a unique beer and fun to try. Overall, we had another great meal. The staff was friendly, they handled my drink issue without hesitation, and the food was just as good as we've come to expect. I ate about half of mine and took the rest home. My wife only ate maybe 3-4 bites of hers. After reheating at home, the food itself was fine; I had corned beef & cabbage (yes, cliche) and my wife had fish & chips. We were given a basket of kettle chips around 8:30. The wait was long enough that my wife ordered a second beer (which she doesn't usually do); was a little disappointed that it wasn't comped because of the long wait. What made it worse was there were a few tables that were seated after us that got their food before us, including a party of 6 that finished, paid and left before our food even arrived. I'm willing to give the place a second chance on a different day. I get that St. Patrick's Day is probably a rough one for them. But if the kitchen is over an hour behind, that should probably be mentioned before any orders are taken.

Normally, this restaurant is a really inexpensive and quick service place to eat. However, today, the restaurant was quite busy. Upon arrival we were told that it would be about a 30 minute wait. We sat outside the restaurant, waiting for a table, until we noticed that groups of people were showing up and being seated while we were still waiting. We waited for an hour and a half before seating ourselves at a table outside. We were promptly brought chips and salsa, however the waiter didn't show up to the table for another half an hour. We were given menus and our drink order was taken, and 20 minutes later the waiter returned to take our order. 2 hours. That's how long it took to get our food after ordering. Several times we would have to send one of our dining members in to get an update on the food, as the waiter didn't return to our table unless we went inside and asked for him. It started to rain heavily when we were sitting outside waiting for our food, and the restaurant staff made no effort to sit us or any other customers that were dining outside, inside the restaurant. We eventually picked up our table and moved it down the building under the small awning that was there. The wait staff was rude, the management didn't show face, and our bill at the end of the night was full price, despite the 4 hour wait. Will not return ever again. read more

I love this place! My family and I go here so often, the owners recognize us and even make us feel like family. Every time I come into this restaurant, I am pleased with the service and the food. The prices are very decent and we always make to tip generously, because they work so hard. I always go home with left overs, becuase they are generous with their portion sizes! I also love it when restaurants have chips and dip for free on the table- I feel that is classy of them, and not stingy like some places can be. Every Saturday evening you can find my family here :) Love this place, highly recommend it! read more

Now this is my idea of damn near authentic Mexican food. By far the best in Calvert, if not all of Southern Maryland. The staff is wonderful, the service is extremely fast, and the food is amazing. My wife and I love the chips and salsa and enjoy trying new things on the menu. If you haven't been to La Tolteca yet, then go! I promise you won't be disappointed. read more
