Came with my boyfriend to try La Traila after seeing so many great reviews, and before we even got our food, we already knew we were going to love this place. We ordered the brisket, ribs, and mac and cheese, and everything was delicious! The best part of our experience was our server, Andres. He was absolutely amazing and truly goes above and beyond for his guests. He made us feel like family from the moment we sat down. His energy is incredible, and we honestly hope he's our server every time we come back. Our food was a little delayed, but it was honestly no problem at all--we completely understand that these things happen. What impressed us was how the staff handled it. Michael, the food runner, came over personally to explain the situation and was so friendly, cool, and professional. The manager, Jojo, was also fantastic. She checked on us several times, made sure we were taken care of, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and make sure everything was perfect for us. I honestly can't believe this place has only been open for a month. I've lived in Miami my whole life, and this was hands down some of the best service I've ever received--and that says a lot! The food was great, but the hospitality is what truly stood out. Every employee we interacted with made us feel like family. Big portions, bold and juicy flavors, great folks working the spot, a must visit in the Sunset area, right next to Akashi. I love the Loaded Barbecue Quesadillas here as they do the job well, perfectly stuffed and flavored. Matcha Mule and El Pepe cocktails were great, loved Pepe and will definitely get again. The service and wait are a complete disaster!! We walked up, party of 3, the hostess (ladies up front) asked us to step aside and they will call us within 10 minutes, they did not take a name or a phone number. About 15 minutes later I walked back in and asked, 'there are quite a few people, you did not take a name or phone number, how will you know it is us' . 30 minutes later, I walked in to ask how much longer, they asked 'what's the name'?? I explained that they said they don't need a name. They said 'oh that's right. We will sit you right now' 45 minutes later we were seated. It was very strange that some people standing behind us on the line were seated soon after checking in. We were seating very close to the door, I observed multiple confrontations between customers and the hostess because they were not taking names/phone numbers and completely forgetting to call people up when tables were ready. What was the super long wait for once seated? Nothing is made to order, the meats are smoked ahead of time, the sides are made ahead of time. Dear management, please revisit your kitchen logistics. Want to provide a Texas experience, let us go up to the counter and order by the pound, take the tray and sit down. True Texas style. If not then revisit your strategy. The wait staff was excellent. Miami just leveled up its BBQ scene and La Traila is leading the charge. It has only been open for a month, but it's already making serious noise in South Miami. Sitting right in the heart of the neighborhood directly across from Akashi. The brisket elote is a must, has a generous portion of smoky, savory brisket. Although everything we ordered was a hit. The pork belly brisket was deeply flavorful and paired great with their house made bbq sauce which was mustard based , along with the spare ribs as well. Onto the sides, the queso blanco mac & cheese was comfort food done properly, and the cream of corn was rich and satisfying. The one heartbreak of the visit was being out of sweet potatoe cornbread by 3 PM on a Sunday. That's not a knock on the kitchen .. if anything, it speaks to how fast things are moving at this place. I checked this spot out after seeing it on social media, and I'll admit--I was a little skeptical. Having tried some of the best BBQ in Texas but this place surprised me in the best way. The manager and staff is super friendly they kept coming to our table to check if everything was good. The food is delicious. Meat is very tender and flavorful. Pulling up to La trails in south miami i was already excited by the smell of smoke and bbq spices in the air. We sat outside although they have a huge indoor service. La Traila is back and better than ever! After closing their Miami Lakes location a few years ago, they recently re-opened in the South Miami / Sunset area. When I went the place was packed, which is not surprising given it's a new opening with a lot of buzz. I tried the brisket empanadas, ribs, brisket and the Mac and cheese. The empanadas were simply amazing and highly recommended. I could not eat the ribs, brisket or Mac on the spot as I needed to take carry out for the wife, so I could not fairly judge each as I had to reheat the food later on and did not eat it fresh. The only downside is my gripe with Sunset as a location since you have to pay for parking pretty much in that whole area, very annoying. The staff was super friendly, I will be going back. read more

Great new bbq spot in South Miami. It's impossible to not be excited by the delicious smell of smoked meat welcoming you in. The decor is cool and lively, and the service is helpful and friendly (ask for Dariel, he's great). We tried the brisket empanadas, the El Rey brisket sandwich, and then a platter with brisket, pulled pork, and pork belly. All were excellent. The beer on draft is icy cold and a perfect way to wash it all down. There aren't a lot of good bbq spots in Miami, so this is a great addition to the restaurant scene. My boyfriend and I finally tried La Traila BBQ, and we already know we'll be back! The first thing we ordered was the brisket queso fundido with chips, and WOW. This was easily one of our favorite things we ate. It was cheesy, loaded with brisket, and came out piping hot. For our main, we got a half pound of the pulled pork, and it did not disappoint! The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The BBQ sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and smoky and paired perfectly with the pork. We also have to give a huge shoutout to our server, Hunter. He truly made our experience. Since it was our first time visiting, he took the time to walk us through the menu, answered all of our questions, and gave thoughtful recommendations. He was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing, checked on us throughout our meal, and had such a genuine, positive attitude. Great service like that is hard to come by. The restaurant itself was spotless, had a spacious layout, a beautiful bar, and two huge TVs playing the World Cup, which made the atmosphere even better. The country music playing in the background was such a vibe and fit the restaurant perfectly. Overall, we had an amazing first visit. This restaurant has been open less than a month and I am so glad I found them. This was the best bbq I've had in years! Way better than Apocalypse which everyone raves about. La Traila will give them more than a run for their money. La Traila will leave them in its dust. We were promptly greeted and seated. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Our waitress Jojo was on point, knowledgeable, and efficient. She made suggestions but we kind of got a little of everything lol. My husband started with the quesadilla which he raved about it having just the right amount of smoke and spice. For our entree I got the carnitas and he got brisket. Our sides were creamed corn, mac and cheese, and sweet potato cornbread. Everything was brought out quickly and was fresh and hot. My carnitas were perfectly seasoned and the brisket was tender and falling apart as you ate it. Jojo told us they only season with salt and pepper and smoke it all day in their outdoor smoker. Whatever recipe and seasoning they are using, all I can say is WOW! Their BBQ sauce was the perfect complement to the meat. The cornbread was hot, soft, and moist and served with an ample portion of butter. Both sides were delicious. The creamed corn was on the thinner side but the flavor was on point. Party of 7 on Mother's Day- new restaurant- we took the chance- well worth it ! We got there and they told us that it was going to be a 30 minute wait, which wasn't bad considering that you can wait by the bar. It ended up being much less. They're not fully stocked liquor wise yet they only had Modelo beers. The cocktails were good, but I had it twice made by 2 different bar tenders and the same drink tasted a lot sweeter made by one bartender than then other. The place was super humid due too so much in and out and high volume of people so the carpets were a great addition but I still almost ate it twice. They should also add a carpet in the bathroom especially under the hand dryer as it was all wet and I almost ate it there too. These comments are strictly constructive criticism and by every means are understandable that they are just figuring things out. Everyone from the waitress which was a lady with a buzz cut, manager, bar tenders and staff were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. They all asked multiple times if all was good. The FOOD is the showstopper. I was disappointed that cornbread and banana pudding was sold out but that just means I need to come back !! THE RIBS are one of the best I've ever had !! No smokiness. Didn't finish it. The queso was not cheesy. It was a soupy mess. The chips that came with it were fine, but like the sandwich, it wasn't anything you would order again. I really wanted to like this place. The staff was nice and the service was good. But the food was not good. It may be a result of it being late so we got the dregs of the bbq. Sorry. This was my second time visiting this new restaurant and I I feel compelled to give a review. First off the margarita was amazing. I splurged and had a second. All of the meats I've tried have been fall off the bone delicious and the turkey the most tender I've ever had. My favorite side was the corn dish but all the sides are great. The cornbread was like dessert but I also tried the banana pudding on my first visit and key lime pie & guava cheesecake on second visit. I' can't wait to go back for the cheesecake and not share it. Tried this new spot today and it was absolutely delicious! My husband and I ordered the brisket sandwich and the pork sandwich with fries. The bread was a little on the hard side, but the meats were packed with flavor. We also had the mac and cheese--despite the jalapeños, it wasn't spicy at all, just really tasty. Now for the downside: we got there around 12:30 and ordered two margaritas, but only one ever made it to the table. After being told the second was on the way, our waitress came back and said they had run out of tequila--which felt pretty odd for a Friday afternoon right after opening. We had also ordered cornbread with our meals, but it never came out. When we asked, we were told they had run out of that too. I'm not trying to be picky, but it seems like they could be better prepared when it comes to inventory. It was definitely a bit disappointing. Will we go back? Absolutely--but they need to get their act together. Parking is a challenge; we parked at Sunset Place, but once that building is gone, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to find a spot.
