Upon arriving it sets the mood entirely with great fun appropriate decor and a prompt happy welcome. Staff Makes us feel they are glad we came-What a cool place! We settle on the brisket, baby back ribs, potato salad and beans with brisket. Can I tell you EvErYtHiNg was spot on!! And we plan accordingly to try their famous 12 hour smoked Flan dessert!! 1. Smoked Brisket- moist, perfect flavor, hearty portion, tender and high quality meat. Comes with great sauce, which I didn't use since it was so perfect as is. 2. Smoked Baby Back Ribs- Another hit with healthy portion, great flavor, and super meaty. Honestly, just hard to stop eating it! 3. Baked Beans with Brisket- A true meal unto itself! I could've stopped here! Tons of brisket ground into the beans, almost like the best "chili" ever. Flavor is sophisticated smokiness, not the usual sugary sweet restaurant rendition. Yay! 4. Potato salad is FIRE! Fresh perfectly cooked tender white potatoes, cooked carrots & peas add just enough interest and a magical a touch of mayo. Yes please. 5. 12 hour smoked Flan-STAR * of the show, the flan of my dreams! Staff insisted this flan is all that and they are correct! It's LEGIT. We left with a doggie bag, so worth it. My daughter and I love BBQ food so we were thrilled when we found S & D! It is located in the Sabina Shopping Center in Miami. We were greeted by the very personable Brayddy, who helped us pick out our dinner items. We were tired after being at a local pumpkin patch all day in the heat and just wanted to get home and not cook. So we did a take-out this time. It was very well packed and arrived in great shape. Brayddy outdid herself. Both ladies were very nice and helpful. We ordered and shared the very tender and well seasoned Brisket, which practically melted in my mouth. It was really good! We also got the half rack Baby Rib back...wow, it just fell off the bone and was so delicious!! Very good! The cornbread was amazing, especially with the sauce we were given to pour over it. I have no words. As a side dish for the meat, we got the Truffle Mac n Cheese, which was outstanding. Everything was great!! Last but not least, we unfortunately were disappointed in the Smoked Flan. I came here for the first time after I saw a recommendation on Infatuation Miami. I came with two friends. We decided to try the Miami Spice deal. It was $35 per person for an appetizer, entree and dessert. Two of us ordered the Arepitas con lechon and the other ordered the smoked croquettes. The Arepitas were my favorite part of the meal! They were so delicious! I could have eaten ten of them! I tried half of one croquette, and they were really good too. Lots of flavor, crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. For our entrees, I ordered the rib combo, one friend ordered the Triple Play, and the other ordered the Tamal en Cazuela (corn casserole with pork belly). I think the Triple play is the best deal, but I don't like sausage. I loved my rib combo. The coleslaw was really good! Some of the best I've ever had! The fries are ok. Not my favorite type of fries, but they were good. The rib meat was falling off of the bone. The bbq sauce is really yummy. All three of us had leftovers. No one finished half of their meal. We all ordered the Tres Leches as our dessert. We had them to go, since we were too full to eat them. They come with a meringue on top. I tried it later at home and it was too sweet for my taste. It was like eating straight sugar. Not for me. I would try the flan next time. They automatically add a 20% gratuity to the check. Altogether our bills were $44+ each. One friend ordered an ice tea and her check was $51+. The waitresses were SUPER nice! We loved the service! The restaurant is nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable. But it's a little small. They have an extensive menu of fusion bbq. We had the burnt ends empanadas (delicious), bacon jam sliders (phenomenal), bbq tater tots (don't skip out on this, they were insanely good), waffles y más (pretty plain but the waffle was very good), and lastly a trio platter that brought a little bit of everything. The sausages had a Smokey flavor that gave us stomach aches, not sure why but I don't recommend it. RESTAURANT: Located within a shopping center, the restaurant did not look much from the outside, but inside, they really did a good job staying true to the bbq aesthetic. Love the giant bbq sign, the wood barn door and furniture and the variety of pig statues and figurines. Then, on the other side is a completely different restaurant, and empanada restaurant. FOOD: Right on the entrance is a huge bar, stocked with local beer, wines and bottled teas. We started with the arancini balls. Never had those before and they were delicious. For the entrees, we got the ribs and brisket with the slaw and corn bread. The sides were delicious. The brisket and ribs were both smokey and tender. Not the best flavor I had but not bad at all. I wanted some arepa and empanada too but I was saving room for dessert. So we had the smoked flan which looked promising but really did not hit. Texture was good but the smokey flavor initially was too strong but as soon as that dies down it was not followed by party in my mouth that typically happens with Filipino flans. I preferred their smoked cheesecake. SERVICE: Service was good. We dined after lunch and so it was slow and I believe that one of the owner was our server, cashier, everything. She answered our questions, made suggestions and told us a little bit about the restaurant and how they got started. Food arrived swiftly. Overall, our experience was good. I've been wanting to try smoke and dough for a while and I'm so glad we finally did. The restaurant is kind of on the small side, so if it's crowded expect a wait time. I'm not sure if they offer reservations but I'd make one if possible. For an appetizer we ordered the pastrami tequenos and I have to say these were the best tequenos I've ever had. Came to Smoke and Dough for take out, to take food to work for lunch for my upcoming double shift. Ordered the brisket of course with a side of truffle Mac and cheese and I also order the Tostones con lechón. The Brisket, excellent, perfectly smoked, melts in your mouth I think the addition of the chimichurri sauce was good but I thought I should have been given some house made bbq sauce to have with it. The Truffle Mac and Cheese was ok, it had some bacon bits for some additional flavor, I think that with some additional cheese blends added on to it would have been a wow. The totosnes con lechón was very good. Lechón perfectly cooked as well, very tender along with the totones, the sauce and the pickled onions made it with wholesome goodness. As far as authentic slow smoked BBQ goes, this place is among the best in Miami. Do note however, that Miami is honestly not a great place for BBQ, I like to joke that we are too far south for southern BBQ. We enjoy the smoked platter very much, especially the ribs and the brisket. Very tender with the right amount of fat to make them succulent. The yuca fries came out way too hard and dry though. The place has a nice set up and staff is very friendly, so overall a great experience. However, it's a bit overpriced for the food, compared to BBQs in the real south. It's a place I will come back to but probably not as often as I'd like. read more

Small but tasty BBQ spot! Stopped in on a Thursday for a late lunch and it just so happens Thursdays they have all day happy hour!! We ordered the full rack of Ribs and the pastrami sandwich and for the sides had fries, baked beans and ranch coleslaw as well as their amazing corn with cinnamon butter. The food had amazing authentic bbq flavor. The ribs fall right off the bone and if you're a fan of sweet zesty bbq sauce you'll the guava bbq. The fries were crispy outside soft inside and the beans had plenty of meat and amazing flavor, so far fave beans of any BBQ beans I've tried. The coleslaw was also good a bit sweet for me but for those who favor the sweeter versions of coleslaw I think you'll enjoy this ranch version they make. And now for the cornbread, this is by far the best cornbread I've had... a definite must have. We will definitely be back to try other daily specials as we were told the menu varies each day a bit! Been in Miami 20 years, and I've finally found a BBQ spot that has me feeling like I'm back at a North Carolina summer BBQ festival. I used to visit my grandma in her small NC town, where the BBQ is sacred. Between the local joints and the annual BBQ festival, it set a very high bar. This place? The closest I've found in Miami by far. The burnt ends empanadas were unreal good. The pork belly brisket was delicious. And the cornbread? Chef's kiss. Not too sweet, very moist, and with chunks of corn. The slaw and potato salad were tasty, though what I'd consider non traditional. Pulled pork was solid, just not Sunday-best level. Still dreaming of fried okra, collards with fat back, and banana pudding like my Grandma used to make, but until I find that here, this spot's top of my list. I'd honestly give it a 4.5 if I could. Found Smoke & Dough while searching on Yelp on the quest to find a delectable pulled pork sandwich in Kendall (which I lowkey feel is hard to come by) and decided to try it out. We unknowingly walked in during their Sunday brunch special but arrived at the perfect time. We quickly realized this place was a fan favorite as a line started spilling out the door. This BBQ restaurant located deep in West Kendall is the brainchild of 2 proud husband and wife FIU Alumni who are adding a distinctive Miami style to smoked BBQ. Think Pastrami Tequeños, Cafecito rubbed Brisket, Guava BBQ sauce, and more! We made the trek on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation. We did have to wait about half an hour for a table and were starving, but everything was so worth it! All of the servers were extremely welcoming and had awesome recommendations! We even noticed the owners/head chefs of the restaurant helping out in the front desk, helping to clear out tables when needed, and talking to patrons about their dishes. They clearly take passion in their business and stay involved in the day-to-day nuances of running it. Upon sitting down and getting a wonderful beer recommendation (Tank Brewing Freedom Tower), we ordered the following items: - DUCK LUNCHABLE ($16): SMOKED DUCK BREAST, SMOKED MOZZARELLA, BLUE CHEESE OLIVES, HERB OIL CROSTINI - PASTRAMI TEQUEÑOS ($12): 4 SMOKED PASTRAMI, WHITE CHEESE, GARLIC AIOLI - 1/2 LB CAFECITO RUBBED BRISKET ($18) - BUILD YOUR OWN MOFONGO: PASTRAMI MOFONGO ($28) I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the Pastrami Tequeños are a must order appetizer. The addition of smoked Pastrami is a tasty way to give this classic Hispanic bakery dish a meaty and BBQ twist. The garlic aioli dipping sauce was divine, but the tequeños themselves were so flavor packed that I wouldn't be surprised if one devoured them all without even touching the sauce. The Duck Lunchable was an interesting take on using duck breast in an appetizer. I would definitely describe the dish as an elevated Lunchable-- bringing back many fond memories from when I was a kid! The daily special for Saturday was the build your own Mofongo! As someone who hadn't had Mofongo up to that point, this was a real treat! The way it works is you get to select your own Mofongo base (Traditional Green Plantains, Fried Yuca, and Trifongo), followed by your choice of primary protein (Brisket, Pulled Pork, Pork Belly, Duck, and Pastrami). All Mofongos come mixed with Smoked Pork Belly, Garlic, Broth, Butter, and Spices, and served on a Wooden Pilon. I chose to have mine with Fried Yuca and Pastrami-- such a unique combination and delicious combination! My fiancée and I were able to comfortably split this Mofongo with one another. Her order of the 1/2 LB of Cafecito Rubbed Brisket was so juicy and tender! This is probably the best piece of brisket we've had in Miami to date! We capped off our late lunch with a Cuatro Leches. I believe Smoke and Dough's version was infused either with Bourbon or with Rum, and the meringue on top was lightly toasted. Both of these small touches really enhanced this traditional dessert offering! Overall, I can see why Smoke and Dough made the New York Times' list of Top 50 US Restaurants for 2023. We were very excited to try Smoke and Dough as we are big fans of Empanada Harry's. To start, they were out of ribs for the night, so we elected to get double brisket in the meat Quattro instead. Unfortunately, the brisket was very dry and extremely fatty. The sausage was really good, and the bit of pork I tried was also good. The brisket empanadas were excellent and the Mac and cheese and salt and vinegar fries were also very delicious. Most surprisingly, my favorite thing we had was the corn bread with the cinnamon butter...this was the standout for us! I took my sister and we both came with the intention of getting some good barbecue, but ended up in a completely different direction! Lol The wait was long but not that bad. Maybe like 30/45 minutes. The place was pretty busy and we didn't think to make any reservations so it was no problem. To start we ordered the arancini balls and the smoked ham croquetas. The arancini balls were good but the croquetas were better. I felt like you could really taste the smoked ham flavor in it. We were deciding on bbq for our entree when the server let us know on Saturdays they have Mofongo available.... And that's what we ended up getting! I got the pork belly and my sister got the pulled pork. When the mofongo arrived, it was presented in this big cup. At first you may look at it and think it's not a lot but don't let the cup deceive you. The cup is filled, PACKED, all the way to the bottom. I ended up dumping all the contents from the cup onto a plate and it was piled high!! The Mofongo was excellent and I think I liked my sister's more, the pulled pork. We also ordered the honey cornbread to share and omg. That was delicious. We were fighting over it and when we were full and said we couldn't eat anymore.... This place has been on mine and my mom's list of places to try for a while . We were very excited to be able to go for brunch today and thought it was great that we were able to get a reservation just an hour before . However there were some pros and cons . Pros- the waffle was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the brown butter on top , the cornbread was a hit (thought we would have preferred the butter on the side) the cornbread bread itself was not too sweet and reminded us of a type of Dominican corn cake that we make , since we went for brunch we were able to try the brunch mofongo which we had never seen before along with the parchita brunch cocktail which reminded me of fresh passion fruit juice with a kick. Cons--I am not sure if it was because we were sitting in a back room or because of the unbearable Miami heat but the restaurant was uncomfortable warm, my mother who is always cold also felt super warm as well which was made for a less than ideal experience, though our drinks were good my mom who got a cream soda was confused by it being bottled because she thought since they were craft sodas and had such a detailed description they were made in house (we may have read the menu wrong ) none the less it was good, as I mentioned above the parchita cocktail was good but I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get my drink until after all the food had come out and we were about a quarter through our meal. got the waffle y mas breakfast which was good and was glad I was able to upgrade to the brown butter waffle but was a bit disappointed to see that the upgrade was just the same butter as the cornbread for an additional $3, I thought the brown butter would be mixed in to the batter , the last issue was the mofongo after reading the menu again we realized that they mixed the caldo in to the mofongo which made it soggy and more of a mangu consistency. I suggest they serve it on the side for a more authentic consistency.All and all we would still go back for the cornbread (butter on the side ) and to try a few new menu items albeit probably not in the summer . read more

Visiting Miami from out of town. This was the best meal I've had on this visit and it's not even close. The meat melts in your mouth, the sides are just as good. I'd happily go out of my way to eat here again and will be recommending it to friends back home. read more

Tried Smoke and Dough with a group of friends. Coincidentally we were all in the mood for BBQ. Given the great reviews and appealing menu, we decided to check it out. This restaurant is nestled in a shopping center in West Kendall. Parking is not challenging. Ambiance: The restaurant is small and gets crowded so reservations are recommended. The music is slightly loud though, which I am not a fan in any restaurant. Food: Our group decided to order the Smokehouse platter with a side of full rack ribs and nachos. The pulled pork and Cheddar sausages were good, however, the prime brisket was disappointing with us feeling just okay about it as it had no real flavor; and we did not care for the baked beans at all. The baked beans were way too sweet. The cole slaw was too tangy; we prefer a sweeter flavor slaw. The mac and cheese with bacon wasn't bad. The ribs were just ok and the guava bbq sauces over powers the rib flavor in my opinion. The cornbread and sausage were our favorites out of everything on that Smokehouse Platter. Personally, I feel this place is over priced and we were a bit disappointed with our overall meal as it wasn't very memorable for us to return. Also, the small plates that were given to us were just awful to make a nice dining experience pleasant. I am hoping the waitress just forgot to give us bigger plates.
