This place was very quaint, their selection although not huge had some great bottles. I remember walking in, no one greeted me and I saw one young guy by the register and one older male in his 40s with someone that seemed to be a sales person. They were discussing drinks and drinking as if the older male was sampling. I just needed to create content and see if I bought a whiskey bottle. Unfortunately in the middle of of me creating content they tell me not to take pictures or videos. I explain that is basically free exposure and that I'm not bashing and I am going to purchase a bottle as well. The older male just got agitated and said his boss does not allow it, at first I was like okay and proceeded to walk out but as I was walking out I saw a sticker that said Yelp loves us which I though was very odd because of the owner did not allow the videos or pictures how were people going to Yelp you and find you for you to have a sticker that says Yelp loves you. I said it made no sense and asked for the bosses information, I really believe this person was not supposed to be drinking and got upset I was recoding thinking I recorded him. I was treated very poorly and I decided not to purchase my bottle there. read more

Good selection, HORRIFIC staff. Went there with a friend after a bar, wanted to bring something home. Picked a simple, cheap bottle of vodka. Checking out as usual, transaction doesn't go through. My friend had a scratched up janky card so I offered to pay instead. The cashier then asked for my ID to make sure the names matched. Common practice, I work in retail, fine. Things changed when he told my my name did not match my ID, and urged me to leave. What sense does that make? It's MY ID and MY card, crystal clear. This store blatantly refused my service and I choose not to make assumptions as to why. My advice for this store and employees is to leave your attitudes and disgusting beliefs at the door. You run a business and should open your doors to everyone. ESPECIALLY being in the west village. Get off your fucking high horse. read more

Great selection; reasonable prices and they deliver! Cute space and open till midnight! They offer tastings almost every evening and are pretty knowledgeable. They have an interesting selection of domestic wines from lesser known regions (ie Detroit, Virginia, Southern Ca, Arizona, Canada) I saw a great Cakebread Cellars selection and a Chateauneuf du Pape for $43 For you Rosé lovers, they have shelves of them in the middle aisle of the store. What a delightful boutique wine store. Aaron was knowledgeable about a variety of wines and helped me find one I like in my price range. You can tell he's passionate about his craft and the business. Great little wine shop. They're not going to have the massive selection that a store two or three times the size can accommodate, but from what I can tell, they make it a point to squeeze quality wines into that small space. I'm no wine expert, so don't take my advice too seriously. But I am starting to be able to get a feel for what makes a wine store a good one. On the two visits I've made here, both times, the employees were able to answer my questions. If you ask me, you can often tell when someone doesn't know what they're talking about, because they get a little hesitant before they answer each one of your questions. None of that happened here. In one instance, in which I asked the associate which of 2 Gruner-Veltliners they would recommend for someone with a drier palate, they were honest enough to recommend the lower-priced one. I have respect for that. They also carry a Chenin Blanc for about $10 (if my memory serves correct), and it tastes like a much higher-quality wine. I can't complain one bit about the prices here. The people who work here are very friendly. On my second visit, a gentleman gave me all of the contact information when I asked about the possibility of getting a case of my favorite wine shipped to the store. My favorite thing about this wine store is that it's open late. I am usually tied up with other obligations until about 9:00 PM whenever I'm in that area, and that is just about the same time most wine stores are closing. It's good to know that there's a store in the area I can go to where I'm not just settling for a wine I can tolerate, but one where there are wines available that suit my preferences to a T. read more

Great little wine store by West 4th. The staff is nice, always ready with a recommendation and the selection is pretty decent. Came here again last weekend and the young man was able to offer up several different suggestions based on our cravings. Of the 3 bottles purchased, we absolutely loved one (other 2 were okay) and will definitely be back for that delicious discovery! La Vid is a great new addition to the Village. The service is fantastic. Not only are the employees willing to help you make a choice based on your preferences, but the owner is as well! They have a nice selection, are willing to order particular bottles if they don't have them stocked, and have bottles friendly to all budgets (plus- free delivery!). La Vid changes their selection based on the season, so you can always find something perfect to drink. The spirit selection is super unique as well. Tastings are every day at 5pm, so stop in before you catch the train at West 4th! read more

This is a great shop if you are not African-American. I have stopped in this store to purchase wine several times on my way home from work. Of those times...I've received good service maybe once. I have repeatedly noticed the same thing, but didn't want to think it was true. However it was very clear tonight. There were three customers in the store, including me. I was the only African-American and even though I said hello and looked very much like I could use some help...I received no help. Even when I tried to ask about my wine at the counter while waiting...no help. However when a Caucasian man walked in the door, they immediately welcomed him and asked if he'd like to taste a wine. And they were very helpful to the other customer in the store as well. If you have a problem with people of particular races that's fine...I can't change your mind, but if you open a store and take my money...you can at least offer me the same courtesy you would any other customer. There are far too many fabulous wine shops to choose from in New York City so thankfully I do not need to take such rudeness. read more

Picture this: Sunday night, St. Patricks Day. You haven't been out all weekend, your boyfriend just gets home from a long 5 hour drive, and you plan to go across the street and grab a bottle of wine to accompany your take-out dinner, as everyone and every place else in your neighborhood is a hot mess due to the holiday. Well, I am very very sad to say, we showed up at this place, 15 minutes before closing. The space was already locked, whoever was closing up was there + working + would NOT come to the door to let us in, although it was a quarter to nine. A terrible business practice in any instance, and certainly foolish for St Pattys day. (I'll mention that we hadn't had a lick of alcohol all day, so I wasn't a reveler looking to get more of a heat on.) We picked up our food down the street, and I was upset enough, that when we walked by again, and I knocked on the window at precisely 9pm when it was supposed to close, two young gentlemen came to the window, would not unlock the door, and again motioned us away. I have lived in this neighborhood for 15 years, live across the street, and needless to say will go out of my way to never frequent this place again. As a side note-- have been in here half a dozen times before, and although the prices were high for what they were, I was always perfectly pleased to pay the premium for the convenience to have the late hours. I had a more than superb experience at La Vid. I was browsing for wine at approximately 8:45pm on St. Patrick's Day. A more than professional store employee came to first offer his advice in selecting wine and second, to remind me that I had very little time to complete my purchase as according to NY State law, no purchase could be made after 9pm. The wine he helped me choose (Opus One) was incredible! On a night like St. Patrick's Day with many looking for "any port in a storm", I was quite relieved to meet such a professional who recognized that the law meant more than a sound on a cash register! I will continue to frequent this establishment that puts customer service and professionalism first! read more
