Our group of 4 kids (all between 9 and 11) took a surfing lesson last week and they had such a fun time!! Our two instructors went out of their way to make sure the kids felt comfortable before getting into the water with the surfboards. They were patient and funny and excellent with the kids. It was so fun to watch them surf and the full lesson including instruction and changing into the wet suits and picking their boards was about 2.5 hours long. We felt it was 100% worth the price. First let me start with a shout out to Mike who was one of our guides. He gave our tour group great instructions and then was THE MAN for getting four of our group out of the water and back into the kayaks. Yes, we had two kayaks go over. But that was absolutely operator error. Mike is to be commended for his humor and calm confident manner. He got my kayak partner and I (both overweight women in our 50's) back in our boat without ever once making the face of death. The tour itself was beyond what I had hoped for. 2 hours on the ocean with a gifted guide (I forgot her name and I'm sorry!) pointing out the sights. We also saw two humpbacks as well as some dolphins. The humpbacks were not my friend and I -- I heard that! I highly recommend heading down to La Vida so you too can live The Life if only for two hours. That's one thing off my bucket list. But if I get back to Laguna, you can bet I'll be back in a kayak. Booked a 2 hour weekday morning kayak tour with these folks over the phone. Booking was super easy, the person handling the booking was friendly and professional, and they followed up with clear directions and instructions via e-mail. Ali was our tour guide, and he was fantastic. G was pretty nervous since our morning happened to be our one Laguna Beach morning featuring wind and chop. Ali instilled confidence and helped us along the way with a smooth launch and landing. He provided clear instruction on how to paddle and stay upright. We had a great time despite the conditions, and Ali gave us quite a bit of info about the wildlife and Laguna Beach in general. We even got to see the pirate seal up close! (He was probably wondering what the heck we were doing out on the water in those conditions.) Ali took pictures and sent them via e-mail the next day, so we didn't even need to bring a camera. A few tips: 1) Travel light, but bring at least a credit card for the metered parking, in case there is no convenient parking in the neighborhood. Ali was kind enough to loan his, but I'm a trustable looking dude. 2) Don't forget to sunscreen your legs and the tops of your feet. They'll be exposed the whole time. 3) Bring sunglasses with straps, and a hat with a chinstrap, even if you've got cloud cover when the tour starts. It's likely to go away. 4) Kayaks are a lot more stable than they look, and launching through the swells is really fun. Just keep the nose pointed into the swells and you'll be fine. I highly recommend La Vida Laguna. We will definitely be booking a tour with them the next time we get down to Laguna Beach! read more

Booked a 2 hour kayak trip with La Vida Laguna and had a great experience all around. Billy met us at Fisherman's Cove and had everything all set up and ready to go. After an easy launch, he led us on a stunning tour of the Laguna coastline where we saw seals, sea lions, pelicans, and schools of fish, not to mention all of the glorious views. Nothing is more gorgeous than Laguna Beach as seen from the sea, and no better outfit than La Vida Laguna! Billy was also a wealth of information and a fascinating paddling companion. Awesome experience kayaking today with Lavida Laguna tours. Scott and Ryan were awesome, professional, safety minded and very informative. I have never kayaked in the open ocean before, So this was an adventure for me. They gave us a lesson before we got in the water and helped us launch out. Today was overcast (so no sunburn), the water was warm about 76° . The waves seemed a bit choppy at first but as soon as we launched and got out further into the ocean everything seemed to calm down and was very manageable. I enjoyed the tour the history and seeing the landscape from the ocean. I didn't think I could do it but those guys gave me confidence. Now I can tell my grandchildren that grandma kayaked in the Pacific Ocean!!! read more

It was an amazing experience to learn how to stand up while paddleboarding. Surprisingly, I did not fall even once during my first lesson thanks to our instructor Ali. He also takes amazing pictures. I had a great time and I will definitely use La Vida Laguna again! I was originally signed up for a SUP lesson but the others in the group were not able to stay on their boards as the wind picked up. We switched to kayaks but the rest of group still struggled to stay afloat. Rather than call it a day, Justin took me out on a double kayak past the original time the tour was to end. I was in the Los Angeles area for work purposes and desperately needed to get out to nature and the ocean. An internet search landed me on their home page and I booked a two hour kayak tour. The guides, Ali and Justin were great guides! They were friendly and knowledgeable and kept everyone safe. The tour was located in a preserve, so the ocean waters and wildlife/nature viewing was way better than other parts of the coastline. We even saw dolphins! read more
