I had a free afternoon and a friend suggested to visit Laguna Beach. On my Uber from Anaheim to Laguna Beach, I decided to rent a bike instead of just sitting at a cafe. The staff helped me signed up for a bike, gave me local tips and roads to explore. I had genuine dialogue with the staff and they recommended a great place for eats after my ride was done. I think I was expecting a different type of E-Bike. The inventory available is pedal assist only and you must truly peddle to get anywhere. Keeping that in mind Laguna is a very hilly area and most time I did not feel like I was on a electric bike. It was not a comfortable ride either, especially fo shorter women. Make no mistake you will Work with this bike, not joy or casual riding! My stars are reallly for the cusotmer service. Both gentlemen were friendly, professional and honest. As long s you know these bikes provide no constant throttle and you're up for the work and sweat you should be fine. read more

These guys are amazing! The #cyclesisters916 stumbled upon this shop during our ride from Pismo Beach to San Diego (330 miles). Several of us ladies experienced issues with our bikes including multiple flats, chains falling off and gear shifting problems. Two of the ladies were in need of immediate repairs. These guys took care of us! Not only did they quickly repair the bikes, they also inspected each bike as a courtesy. We were impressed by their ability to service 8 bikes in within 1 hour. They ensured each bike was lubed, aired up, and breaks were functioning properly. It was a huge relief to encounter skilled and helpful individuals that were able to provide the necessary repairs and assistance when we needed it the most. My son took his bicycle to this place and agreed to do $100 in fixes. He then left the bike for a few days with this company and came back to a bill of $300. They said they couldn't release his bike to him unless they paid the 300. I warned my son about bringing his bike to this company as well purchased two bicycles from that with the promise of ongoing maintenance on the bikes. Those bikes were $15,000 so that's why I came with ongoing maintenance within two years. The owner of Laguna Beach Cyclery decided to not honor our agreement and charged me an additional $800 for maintenance, which was completely uncalled for. And now he's doing the same exact thing to my son a few years later I warned him and I'm warning all of you if you take your bike to this place, be aware that they will scam you. read more

Laguna Beach, I'm jealous of you. Not because of your views (which of course, is envy-inducing) but because you have a gem of a bike shop with the loveliest owner. I came in the day before a long-ish bike ride looking for water bottles since my fiancé and I forgot ours, and had the pleasure of meeting Patrick. I told him about my new Roubaix and he told me to stop by with it so he could see, and I obliged. He then proceeded to help us find the perfect route to take, gave us his card to help us find him on Strava, fixed my fiancé valve seal for us, and showed us a quick way to replace the rear wheel. We were just pleased as punch with how warm and helpful Patrick was... but it gets better. Next day- I'm riding along PCH when Patrick pulls up on his super sweet Giant TCR and started with me a bit. We got to talking about training strategies, heart rates and made sure I knew that it was OKAY to slow down. That it was aOKAY not to be the fastest rider in the group yet. He also gave me tips on how to manage my heart rate for longer distances, weight loss, etc. it was all very informative and enlightening, and I felt as if I had met my Bike Spirit Guide. He even stopped to make sure I was okay on the way back (I had stopped for a nature break lol). All in all, this guy has a wealth of knowledge in addition to all the bike stuff you could ever need in his shop. Just the perfect experience. Can you see why I'm jealous now? read more

Needed new brake pads for my granddaughters e-bike . Fortunately it's two blocks from my home so I just walked the bike in without calling . I was expecting to have the bike back the next day but the work was done in two hours . I was one of the members of Cycle sisters that took this journey from Pismo Beach to San Diego. My gears were slipping and i was having difficulty shifting in low gear. We were directed to Laguna Beach Cyclery by another local business woman who happened to hear the conversation of our need for a bike shop. (I wish we got her name because we are still extremely grateful for her). A few of us rolled our bikes into Laguna Beach Cyclery first. The gentlemen working simply greeted us and listened to our plea for "help". As a courtesy check, my bike was quickly lifted on the rack, gears adjusted, and my chain cleaned. We were offered fresh cold water to fill our canteens while we waited. In addition to the bike check I purchased a spare tire. I definitely felt that "small home town" vibe. The generosity of time did not seem to set these gentlemen back from the tasks that they already had at hand. For one hour out of their day, 8 women felt valued, and cared for! Our overall experience was great, however there were some setbacks. We were first time mountain bikers and wanted a location that was close to the trails. Your location fit the bill! The staff was very helpful in explaining the mechanics of the bikes, safety tips, and trail recommendations. We reserved two bikes, for my husband and I , for three hours, for a total cost of $164. We followed the recommendation of the associate at your store and went to some trails. About an hour and twenty minutes into our ride, my husbands bike chain broke ! Granted he is 6'2, 230 lbs. We called the shop to let them know as the rental contract indicates and due to our distance on the trail they were unable to come out and assist. My husband had to push the bike back to the shop and ride what downward trails he could. Up until that point the ride was great. When we got back we were not offered a partial refund or any type of discount for a future ride . I would think with the amount we paid that would have been offered. These guys are fantastic. There's something about shopping local...you get one on one specialized service and these guys know their stuff. My boyfriend and I are first time mountain bike buyers. Going into a bike shop can be a tad intimidating when you don't know what you're looking for. Terry and the other staff at Laguna Beach Cyclery take all that anxiety away and provide excellent service that makes you feel at home. We purchased two Giant bikes at a great price. Great bike shop. A couple weekends ago, my friend's colnago was not shifting properly and we were almost halfway into the ride. Called up the shop, spoke to Brett about the problem and the need for a new chain, and he said to pop in on the way down. Brett dropped whatever he was doing to install a new chain on the etap system and had us on our merry way. I would highly recommend Laguna Cyclery for any of your bike needs. I first got a bike from these folks over 20 years ago. Although we do not live in the area anymore, I still shop there when I am in the area for equipment. Recently, they serviced my E-assist bike, and while everyone else was quoting a lot of money and seven or eight day turnaround, they charged a very reasonable price and had the bike done in two days. After all these years of business, with the same owner, they're still providing outstanding, friendly, small-town service. Keep up the good work guys! read more

I think YELP is great. It helps me make decisions when they are hard. With that said, the guys here at Laguna Beach Cyclery are excellent. I rented a bike for the Bicycle Leadership Conference. They made me feel welcome and engaged me in conversation as I waited for my bike and after I returned the bike waiting for my LYFT driver. I could have stayed longer, enjoyed a coffee or a beer (offered but they were out :) ) and slowed them on other projects. But they kept working and didn't mind my being there. To start off great, Patrick moved my reservation to the next due to my overzealous booking without considering my late flight arrival. It was graciously moved again due to my early pickup arrival.
